The sun is out, the farmers’ markets are back, and summer vacations are just around the corner. And our producers will be roaming the state working on new episodes of our programs. This month, we’re celebrating the NHPTV- PBS Kids Writers Contest winners at the Currier Museum, and author and storyteller (and host of Our Hometown) Rebecca Rule will be the speaker. Now the gallant captain rides again in a thrilling revamped version with all the action, adventure, and romance of the original, plus spectacular Cornish scenery and local color. Eleanor Tomlinson stars as Demelza, a strong-willed miner’s daughter who escapes from home and finds refuge and more with the aristocratic Poldark. The series begins as Poldark returns home to find that he’s assumed to have been killed in action. He discovers that his father has died and left him a meager inheritance and ruined land, his love Elizabeth has forsaken him and is about to marry his cousin. His uncle and the local gentry suggest he leave to make his fortune elsewhere since Poldark apparently has it all stacked against him. How little they of know this headstrong adventurer! Summer Tales Of Love And WarMasterpiece: Poldark

Almost 40 years ago, Captain Ross Poldark galloped across the TV screens of millions of PBS viewers, vexing villains and winning female hearts in one of the earliest hit series on Masterpiece. Now the gallant captain rides again in a thrilling revamped version with all the action, adventure, and romance of the original, plus spectacular Cornish scenery and local color.
