SEcTION 1: cAST RESIN TRANSFORMERS
NHP Medium Voltage cast resin transformers offer an exclusive customised design and are ideal for installation in various applications that range from the production to distribution of electricity. Our cast resin transformers range from 50kVA to 20MVA with voltages up to 36kV.
Cast resin transformers offer a safer and easier solution for customers as there is lower fire potential and reduction in maintenance requirements.
Reduced partial discharges obtained thanks to an innovative casting process
Longer life due to lower partial discharge levels on windings
High resistance to short circuit events thanks to the application of fibre glass on windings
Low losses compared to traditional transformers
Tailored design in order to increase the cooling on the windings
Reduced dimensions through design aimed to optimise materials and satisfy with site requirements
Features:

cAST RESIN TRANSFORMERS PRODUcT FEATURES APPLIcATIONS
As the high voltage windings are cast, the transformers are totally screened against moisture, dust and industrial waste common in heavily polluted environments. The result is greater installation flexibility and maintenance-free life-cycle.Due to the flame-resistant and self-extinguishing materials used, the NHP Medium Voltage cast resin transformers are particularly suitable for special applications, such as:• Rail• Data centres• Hospitals/health• Mining• Power utilities
Design of clamps that allow a greater aeration and cooling of windings
Off-load tap changer
Greater cooling surfaces
Channel for probesLow Voltage
Terminals 4 lifting eyebolt Provision for Medium Voltage surge arresters
Rating plate can be placed as required
Windings supports fixedto the lower clamps

Environmental classes climatic classes Fire behaviour classes
E0 No condensation and pollution is negligible. Achieved in a clean, dry indoor installation
C1 Suitable for operation at ambient temperature not below -5° and storage to ambient temperature down to -25°
F0 No special fire risk except for the characteristics inherent in the design of the transformer. No special measures to limit flammability. Emission of toxic substances and opaque smoke shall be minimised.
E1 Occasional condensation can occur. Limited pollution is possible
C2 Suitable for operation, transport and storage at ambient temperature down to -25°
F1 Subject to fire hazard. Restricted flammability required. Emission of toxic substances and opaque smokes shall be minimised.
E2 Frequent condensation or heavy pollution or combination of both
MANUFAcTURING FEATURES
Magnetic core
Manufactured with grain oriented low-loss laminations, insulated with carlyte, mitred type or step-lap, the magnetic core of the transformer results in the reduction of the sound level and no-load loses. This also guarantees high sturdiness and stability during movements and in the event of short-circuit stresses.
Low voltage windings
The low voltage windings consist of electrolytic aluminium foils, insulated by pre preg material, impregnated with “H” class epoxy resin and heat treated in an oven to form a compact unit which provides sufficient strength which can withstand short-circuit forces in the transformer. The low voltage terminals are produced with aluminium bars through automatic welding and fixed to the upper yoke clamping frame by suitable spacers. On request, it is also possible to manufacture copper windings (i.e. terminals arrangement for connection to busbars).
High Voltage windings
The high voltage windings are manufactured with overlapped coils in aluminium strips, connected in series, with rounded corners and insulated with polyester material films. Once the single winding is completed the entire coil is anchored by glass fiber net and after a suitable drying cycle, all windings are casted under vacuum with epoxy resin “F” class mixed with quartz and trihydrated alumina. Each production cycle is sampled with calorimetric analysis to test the vitreous transition. The adjustment points are obtained directly in the centre of the winding and the various positions are made through brass bridges.
All NHP Medium Voltage transformers are manufactured in accordance with AS 60076-11 standards.

SEcTION 2: OIL IMMERSED TRANSFORMERS
NHP Medium Voltage oil immersed transformers range from 50kVA to 30 MVA with voltages up to 145kV. The traditional oil transformers are available with oil conservator or hermetically sealed type with integral fins. As per customer’s request, the transformer can also be equipped with special control and safety devices with the use of biodegradable oils. Customer requirements for painting and specific coatings (i.e. zinc coating and metallization) can also be met.
Features:

APPLIcATIONS
Oil immersed transformers can be installed indoor or outdoor and are suitable for every type of application including:• Rail• Data centres• Hospitals• Mining• Power utilities
They can also be installed in areas where there is risk of fire with the use of nonflammable oils. Oil immersed transformers from NHP can also be installed in highly polluted areas, thanks to an external coating that has been especially adapted for any type of atmospheric condition.
Magnetic coreManufactured with grain oriented low-loss laminations, insulated with carlyte, mitred type or step-lap, the magnetic core of the transformers results in the reduction of the sound level and low no-load losses. This also guarantees high sturdiness and stability losses during movements and in the event of short-circuit stresses.
Low voltage windingsThe low voltage windings are produced by electrolytic aluminum or copper foils, insulated with adequate thermal class material. This characteristic makes the winding protected and resistant to the high short-circuit forces. The connection terminals are made with aluminium or copper bars through automatic welding. High current is used as transposed conductors-cable with epoxy that combines an excellent mechanic resistance to the reduction of the losses caused by eddy currents.
High Voltage windingsHigh voltage windings are manufactured with electrolytic copper enameled wire or strip insulated with pure cellulose paper. Windings are compact and strong in design to withstand the eventual short circuit electrodynamics forces. For voltages higher than 72.5 kV, the windings are manufactured with an interleaved disc in order to optimize the distribution of the steep-front over voltages.
Tank and coverThe cover is bolted to the tank and the sealing is guaranteed by a suitable rubber gasket or sintered material. The tank for small transformers is supported by undulated sheets in order to allow the oil expansion and the dispersion of the heat generated by the transformer. Medium/large size transformers are manufactured with radiators that can be directly connected to the tank wall or with valve for intercepting the oil inside the radiator. All tanks are carefully tested during the construction phase in order to guarantee the body is resistant to fatigue cycles (expansion and shrinkage).
Insulating oilThe insulating oil contained in the transformer is dielectric mineral type PCB free, preventively treated and dried. The filling is done under-vacuum.Transformers filled with silicon oil or synthetic ester based of MIDEL type are also available (these fluids ensure a greater safety in case of fire because of their higher flammability point).
Painting and surface treatmentAll internal parts are sandblasted and painted with products insoluble to hot oil. The outside walls of the tank and cover are sandblasted and processed with a series of single-layer waster-soluble paint coating, suitable to withstand extreme environmental conditions.
