The very mild climate and its proximity to mineral and thermal waters mean that many diseases are treated here. Călimăneşti town includes Călimăneşti, Căciulata and Cozia resorts and Păuşa, Jiblea Veche, Jiblea Nouă and Seaca neighborhoods. Călimăneşti, as well as the famous Cozia Monastery, both date back as far as 1388. The therapeutic effect of the mineral waters was revealed in 1859 and, in 1873, the waters were awarded the golden medal at the International Exhibition in Vienna. The principal economic activities of the town were developed around the mineral water resources qualities: 30% of the inhabitants work in tourism, 19% in commerce and 16.8% in industry. Renewable Energy Sources Now: There are 3 geothermal exploiting systems that capture water at 90-95 0 C, that is distributed to hotels, administrative buildings and around 700 apartments through the heating system. Future: A new drill that allows the extension of the heating system in the south part of the town. Rational Use of Energy Now: Replacement of pipes on the secondary lines with materials with high isolation qualities.
