Scope• The Next Gen Provincial Data Network (PDN) is being created for the use of
provincially public sector funded Agencies, Corporations, Departments, Divisionsand Authorities.
• A Digital Wide Area Network with over 600 connections in over 80 communities.
• Current Clients on the Provincial Data Network include;! All Government of Manitoba Departments (15)! Manitoba Health! Regional Health Authorities including Hospitals and other health facilities! Manitoba Agriculture Credit Corporation! Manitoba Crop Insurance Corporation! Better Systems Initiative! Family Services Agencies! Driver Vehicle Licensing! Justice Correctional Facilities! Manitoba Gaming Control Corporation! Future expansion into schools, post secondary facilities and libraries throughout

! High Bandwidth applications such as Tele-Health! Convergence of Voice and Data Communications! Video Conferencing! Server Consolidation! New technologies distributed over the entire province, such as Microsoft’s
Active Directory Services (Windows XP)! Greatly Enhanced Network Security! Virtual Private Networks! Prioritization of data applications! High Reliability through redundancy and management! Scalable to add additional communities
• The Next Gen PDN replaces an existing frame relay network.• New 5 Year contract awarded until December 2006.

Satellite Network• Current Satellite Network includes 3 Northern and Remote
Communities with Winnipeg as a hub.

November 2002.• Vancouver Teleport provides both the Network
Service and Access Services within each community.• Project was funded by the Government of Manitoba
(51%) and Manitoba Health (49%).• Currently Consists of three VPN’s;

• Site Infrastructure is owned by the Govt of MB andHealth.
