After beginning in 2008, in the basement of Brent Smith and Christina Dove’s home, we are proud to have grown our local company to one which now ships our fine, Newfoundlandmade chocolate to retailers across Canada. Cacao trees can live to be 200 years old, but they produce marketable cacao beans for only 25 years.

Did you know that we add local Tilt House biscotti to some of our truffles and chocolates?

Our Chocolaterie at the Avalon Mall showcases a new feature for us, truffles made right before your eyes. You can interact with our chocolatiers and watch every part of the process. We are often asked; “Is the chocolate really all made by hand in your store?” Yes! And now you can see for yourself, that we use only the finest, purest

and freshest ingredients, creating delicious and innovative flavours. Our famous series are also available at both locations. They are as unique as the picturesque communities and colourful scenery they are named after. You don’t just taste our chocolates, you experience them…and like the island of Newfoundland, our retail stores, at 166 Duckworth Street and now at the Avalon Mall, are made to be explored!

CHRISTMASAT THE CHOCOLATE COMPANY

This Christmas we have a wonderful array of some old favourites - and new! First, our traditional Mummers Selection, in honour of time old tradition and the annual Mummer’s Festival that draws people together in a colourful parade throughout downtown St. John’s. Artist Louise Andrews designed the beautiful packaging that highlights this colourful part of our culture. Enjoy our delicious chocolates and sing along to the traditional holiday tunes each selection represents.

Our annual Christmas tin this year is designed by Elizabeth Burry, a Newfoundland artist from Newfoundland, and is entitled “Christmas Morning Crossing”. Don’t forget to set sail in a dory with Santa and our Collector’s Tin on Christmas morning! It’s a beautiful keepsake.

This Christmas we also have two fantastic additions. Delicious chocolate coal (that’s not just for the naughty!) with its own unique tag featuring a naughty list that you can jokingly
