SRC-GRIP LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE

On Friday the 16th March Taya, Kayla, Charli, Jake and

Charlie went to the Grip Leadership Conference at the

Adelaide Entertainment Centre. We learnt how to

transform from a watermelon into a strawberry. This refers

to how a watermelon isn’t the same on the inside as it is on

the outside but a strawberry is the same on the inside and

outside. We also learnt 5 ways to have ‘berry’ good

integrity.

1. Be sure to do the right thing

2. Encourage others to do the right thing

3. Refuse to lie

4. Respond when you see something not right

5. Overcome criticism

There was lots of dancing and fun activities! We would

highly recommend this conference to the future leaders of

the school. This was no ordinary conference…….it was a

“berry” good one!!!

COUNSELLOR CHAT-BRAINSTORM PRODUCTIONS

Recently we had the Brainstorm Productions come to our school to present ‘The Protectors’ to all our classes.

Brainstorm is educational theatre that addresses bullying in schools, and empowers vulnerable students to be

assertive and safe in the playground and online. This performance looked at the emotional and social wellbeing

of students. It presented concrete solutions children can practise to protect themselves from hurtful

comments and negative behaviours they may encounter in the playground.

The performance also dealt with cyber safety in such a way that students could empathise and appreciate

the devastating consequences of cyber bullying. 'The Protectors' also looked at aspects of body language and

suggested 'Protector Tools' to curb aggressive behaviour.

We have made Brainstorms part of our anti-bullying approach at the school (along with much other work our

teachers do in their Social and Emotional Learning lessons, in the Child Protection Curriculum and in the

Health curriculum component about healthy and safe relationships).

The areas addressed by The Protectors anti-bullying performance were:
