Whole School Celebration We had a wonderful night last week at our annual celebration picnic. I hope all our families enjoyed the evening and various activities. A big thank-you to families who supported the Bookfair. We managed to get over $600 worth of books donated to our school library. The BBQ and raffle rounded off our fundraising efforts this year and we raised $665.
Last night we held our Year 6 Graduation ceremony. I am extremely proud of our students and I am confident they will continue to develop into intelligent, articulate young adults. A particular mention and thank you to our School Captains: Maja Campbell, Kenny Huynh, Anh Nguyen and Yusuf Yerlitas who have done an outstanding job this year leading the school. I would also like to wish the families who are leaving Sunshine Primary all the very best for the future.
2020 Preparation Our staffing structure has been finalised for the 2020 school year. We say goodbye to Nick Lovett who is off to South Melbourne Park PS and Lucy Magnano who will be pursuing other options. Nick and Lucy have been valuable team members to Sunshine PS and will be dearly missed. I would like to thank them both for their contributions and wish them all the very best in their endeavours. We welcome three new staff members to the Sunshine team next year: Aisling Grey, Crystal Or and Pascale Polyzos. Class lists have been finalised and all students met their 2020 teacher and classmates yesterday in an extended transition session.

Book Pack Payment We strongly encourage families to make BPay payments
over the school holiday’s for their child/children's Book
Packs as they must be paid in full by Tuesday 28 January,
2020. This will ensure your child has the necessary
resources to start the school year. If you have not paid for
the Book Pack by the due date, your child will not have all
the items needed to start the year and will have to wait
until payment is received before we can provide these
essential learning items. Thank you to those families that
have paid.
Finally It has been another incredibly productive year with many achievements to be proud of. Our dedicated staff are committed to ensuring all our students engage with their education and experience a successful learning journey. I am extremely proud of the changes our school has undergone and the achievements we are making. I very much look forward to continuing this work in 2020 and beyond.
Finally I would like to wish all of you and your families the very best for the holiday’s and see you back in 2020!
Lyn Read—Principal

Headlice Alert We have had several notifications of students with headlice. I ask that you be vigilant and check your child’s hair on a regular basis and inform the school if treatment has taken place.
We have a large number of books that are still missing from our library. To help recover these lost books we ask those parents that received a letter to check around their home and return any books that belong to the school.

Plastic bottle tops are one of the top polluters of the oceans and environment. Sunshine Primary School will be collecting clean plastic bottle tops (please was) to donate to Envision Hands, which is a charity organisation that recycles the bottle tops into prosthetic arms and hands for children as well as other important items. You can drop your clean bottle tops off in the box located in the corridor, outside of Ms Champion’s office. If you would like more information, please visit https://envision.org.au/target-1000000/
