As in previous years, we constantly review our operation and try to provide a fun and safe environment for our pool users. The fees you provide enable us to open the pool for the entire 11 week season. Again, we will be offering users the ability to buy passes for the entire season, or for a daily rate at the gate. If you buy a season pass before June 4 th , you will receive a discount. I hope you utilize our concession area as any profit made goes back into the operation of the pool. Swim lessons will be offered separately through the lifeguards. We hope to see you at both the Harvest Home and Fieldhouse Parks this summer! Cheviot Small Business Assistance Program The Cheviot Westwood Community Association (The CWCA) is teaming up with HCDC, Inc. to offer a Small Business Assistance Program. The program runs through February 28, 2017 and is funded by an economic development grant from Duke Energy through their Urban Revitalization program. HCDC will offer marketing and technical assistance, seminars, and one-on- one coaching aimed to encourage continued success for Cheviot’s more than 200 businesses. Cheviot Mayor Sam Keller says, "The City of Cheviot is very supportive of our local business community. I hope all businesses take advantage of this program that is offered at no direct cost to them.” Cheviot Public School Opens Gifted Academy West The Cincinnati Gifted Academy West opens Aug. 17 and will initially serve up to 40 students and will double enrollment the following year. Students in grades 3-6 currently attending Cincinnati Public Schools, as well as those in charter or non-public school within the district, are eligible to apply if they meet eligibility requirements. The school is modeled after the highly successful Gifted Academy at Hyde Park School. Cheviot Classic Car Show The Western Hills Community Service Club is hosting the Car Show on May 1 from 9 am to 3 pm – free admission. Formerly known as the Jerry Stautberg Memorial Car Show, the event will continue to benefit local children and schools. More info and registration for your car: http://whcsc.org/events/ Cheviot Family Day This year’s 3 rd annual Family Day will be held at the Fieldhouse recreation area on June 2 nd and will host a Vintage Baseball Game and lots of family fun events. Projetech’s Debbie Herbers Instructing with Clyde Waters, Technical Support Analyst (seated) at Cheviot Public School Cheviot School Community Health Fair On Thurs., April 14 from 4-7 pm, over 30 vendors will offer health and wellness information, along with free health screenings and demonstrations. As a Community Learning Center, Cheviot School strives to be a place where students can learn and achieve as well as be connected with the surrounding community. One way to do this is by connecting with services and resources in the area that promote a healthy lifestyle. All are welcome to this free event.

Winter market is Apr 1, 15, and 29 from 3:30 to 6:30. Summer market starts weekly – every Friday - on May 6 with hours from 3-7 at Cheviot United Methodist Church – enter from back parking lot. Check out the new Produce Perks program: customers who use their EBT Ohio Direction Card (formerly food stamps) receive a dollar for dollar match up to $10 in free tokens they can use for produce.

Projetech helping Cheviot School Teachers via the “Tech Café” The Tech Café collaborative between Cheviot-based Projetech, Inc. and Cheviot School continues again this school year. The monthly “Tech Café” meetings are designed to help teachers implement technology in their classrooms. Returning as Tech Café leaders are Debbie Herbers, Projetech’s Director of Operations and Volunteer Don Dibowski, Cheviot School alumnus. Both Debbie and Don are former Cincinnati Public Schools employees. New to the Tech Café team this year is Justin Broyles, Cheviot School’s Technology Coordinator. Projetech is looking forward to another successful year of Tech Cafes and working with Cheviot School. Public Library Summer Learning 2016 The year, PLCH will offer the Summer Learning Program starting June 1 and running until July 31. The Summer Learning Program consists of four different age groups: Baby/Preschool, Kids, Teens, and Adults. Each age group has three prize levels for the reader to complete and every level completed after that allows the reader an opportunity to be entered into the grand prize drawing. In addition to prizes for the completion of three reading levels, the Cheviot Branch will offer a variety of programming for children, teens, and adults.
