September 2012
Great Summer
Dear Church Family and Friends, God is so good! I stand in awe at the ways He is working through and in our church! When we committed to planting The Church on the Avenue, it was a pretty risky endeavor from a human perspective. We sent out a large portion of our human resources, including two full-time staff members, and made a sizeable financial commitment. Well, it has certainly paid off for TCOTA, as they have already reached a number of people for Christ and are constituting themselves as a church. The beauty of how God works is that it has paid off for Winn’s as well! He has overseen the reconfiguration of our staff and blessed a number of summer activities designed to build His kingdom. He has been diligent in replacing the people we sent out and providing financially for us as well. These are exciting times in which to be part of the Winn’s family; I can’t wait to see what our Father will do in the upcoming church year! My prayer is that we will all resolve to do our part, great or small, and that we will always be part of the solution and never part of the problem. Let us focus all of our energy resisting the evil one, and none of it resisting one another. Eagerly anticipating, Pastor Jeff _____________________________________________________________________

My Fellow Servants, A new Sunday School year is here! I want to Thank All of our Dedicated Teachers that are leading various classes around the church. I know it takes a lot of study and preparation, but by God’s grace you continue on week after week. We are seeing new faces all the time at Winns, and Sunday School is where a growing church like ours gets “small” again. It provides the opportunity to really get to know each other’s prayer needs, learn with our peers, and serve together as a class. I recently talked to a new couple that joined Winns. They noted how comfortable they felt in the worship service and that they enjoyed the preaching as well. However, it was when they visited a Sunday School class and saw the spirit of community there, that they knew this was the church for them. What a great testimony! It’s easy to get lost in a sea of faces. We don’t want anyone among us to “slip through the cracks” when God has put them within our reach. Is there someone you haven’t seen in class for a while? Give them a call, or reach out to them somehow. It can make a world of difference in someone’s life to know that a brother or sister in Christ is thinking about them. Thank you for all the hard work you put into serving. I am always excited to see what God has around the corner for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose! Serving beside you, Caleb _____________________________________________________________

Good Morning Church family!
We have finished the Summer programs and are very eager to kick-off the Fall season, which is our
most attended quarter. Fellowship activities are at their highest, vacations are behind us, the weather
is favorable, school has drawn people back into a regular schedule, plus the excitement of making new
friends at church and at school. This is my favorite time of the year (well until the leaves all fall off.)
Before you know it Christmas will be right around the corner!
Fall marks the anniversary of me becoming part of the Winn’s team. It is hard to believe a year has
past, but it has. I have learned a lot and have become familiar with what a calendar year resembles at
Winn’s . Our goal is to expand our outreach with many opportunities for fellowship as well as a more
balanced Wednesday Night Youth Program.
This year I plan to involve the Youth Committee in planning our activities which will include
developing Internal Leadership within the Youth Group. We have decided to give the youth the
opportunity to participate in Youth Committee, believing this will greatly enhance the focus of our
Youth Program. Do not worry, it will not affect the solid biblical instruction in the least, but what it
will do is give them a sense having a vested interest in the optional activities and fellowship gatherings
throughout the as well as giving them opportunities to speak in small group and give devotionals
periodically.
A portion of our adult leadership team has shifted areas of ministry recently and we have had to
shuffle posts, but God has also provided new perspectives with the additions to our team. If you are
interested in serving in the Youth department please let me know. It is very rewarding and I promise
you will not be required to prepare lessons or be left out on the battlefield with no support. Pray about
it and see what God places on your heart.
Grace & Peace, Pastor Doug
