BRAGS
“Inside the Ropes” Louise Wilson – “Bruno” (Chow) got a major at Donner Trail in October “Bronwyn,” won BOS at Santa Cruz KC. She was handled by Louise's 10 year old grand-daughter, Sasha Terry. It was Sasha's first show. [Way to go, Sasha!] Melody Tate – “Moby” (Keeshond) got an Owner-Handler Group 2 Nov 2nd. Jackie Pisenti -Such a nice sunny competition day (Friday at Rancho Murieta), and “Trin” (GSD) saved the jumpers round when I miscalculated my position and almost took out one of the first few jumps; but she is such a clever jumper, she went clean even with the miserable take-off situation…Now we can concentrate on standard alone.
“Outside the Ropes” Sharon Jahn - CH Weidenhugel Jetta v Treff, “Jetta”,(GWP) took a 3rd place in Open Gun Dog, (in a field of 17 dogs) at the German Wirehaired Pointer Club of Northern CA Field Trial, Nov 17, 2013. She is just starting her field trial career as a “broke” dog and is now running with the “older, more mature dogs. Way to go Jetta! Louise Wilson – “Bronwyn” (Chow) passed her Odor Recognition Test on November 10th in Escalon.

In Memoriam
“Bobo” Louise Wilson's chow, Bobo (Ch. Chowmania's Big Box Office Hit, CGC), passed away on November 20th. He was 10 years old and beloved by all who knew him. He won 80 BOB's, numerous Group Place-ments, was selected as the People's Choice at the Chow National in 2007 and was the number 10 Chow in the USA all breed.

Davis Dog Training Club Meeting November 11, 2013
Meeting called to order at 7:07 pm. Present: M. Balint, C. Batsford, T. Berger, S. Cross, L. Earl, M. Gerriets, P. Jewell, M. McDonald, T. Stutzke, M. Tate, and prospective new member T. Wang. Meeting minutes were approved as corrected for the October 8, 2013 meeting. President: Welcome and introductions. VP: Thank You! To Tonya for hosting the meeting and providing a wonderful dinner.
Thank you to Pam Jewell for baking the delicious desserts. Our next meeting will be the Christmas Party at 6:30 pm. on Dec. 7th at Louise Wilson’s home. It is a pot luck dinner with gift exchange ($15 value). Bring a yummy food item and a wrapped, but un-labeled gift to share. Some members are not fond of the “gift stealing” aspect of the gift exchange. No one should feel obligated to participate. Only those who wish to play along should bring a gift. Secretary: NR Treasurer: Reported a positive balance. Membership: Applications sent out to 4 people. This is the first meeting Tina has attended. Her sponsor is Kathy Souza. Agility: NR Tracking: Discussed the possible candidates for tracking secretary position for the 2014 TDX and TD/X Combined tests. Obedience: Connie was successful in reserving the park in Dixon for our 2014 Obed/Rally trial on May 3rd. Application for this trial is pending, deadline is rapidly approaching and Tiffany will finalize the paperwork for the application and the judging assignments. Classes offered for 2014 will be Beg N, N, Open and Utility. Rally classes for 2014 will be Novice, Advanced and Excellent. CGC: Louise Wilson has the new advanced CGC worksheets. Club Night: Will continue until it becomes too rainy or cold to enjoy the practice time. Quorum: The bylaws were consulted (yet again) and the definition of a quorum reads “the majority of the board of directors and at least 2 officers.” Practically, that means we require 3 of the 5 board members as well as at least 2 officers.
Nominations: The slate of officers for 2014 includes T. Stutzke (Pres), M. Balint (VP), Kathy Souza (Sec), C. Batsfort (Treas). The slate of remaining board members includes C. Brown, S. Cross, V. Rogers, M. Tate, and L. Wilson. Voting will take place at the January 2014 meeting. New Business: We discussed the possibility of offering a herding trial with the cooperation of a local herding club since DDTC has been approved by AKC to offer herding trials. The members decided to explore the possibility and Melinda will let us know. Announcements: Sophia Yin has an article due to by published in the 2014 New Farmer’s Almanac. Pam reported seeing a pit bull service dog with a prong collar in a local restaurant. It was well behaved. We discussed the ease with which folks can buy service dog vests. Tiffany reported on the Malamute Fun Day she and Velvet attended. Hands-on Rally, Agility and Nosework introductions were offered. There was a demo of hints and tips for hiking and packing with dogs. The BBQ was delicious! Barn Hunt Trials will be held in the local area on the weekends of November 23rd and 30th. Meeting adjourned at 8:25 pm.

If your dog has received degrees or titles this year offered by a national dog organization, DDTC is pleased to present you with a plaque and plate (for first-time recipients) or a plate to add to your dog’s plaque (for those who have titled previously). 2014 Annual Awards - Davis Dog Training Club The Davis Dog Training Club will offer an award for each degree or obedience title received by a member during the calendar year under the following conditions: 1. The degree must be offered or sponsored by a national dog-related organization.
2. A request must be submitted by the exhibitor (or owner), specifying the reward and the national organization sponsoring it. A deadline for application submission will apply.
3. If the award is not included on the following list, a complete description of the award must be included with the request. All applicants are expected to provide verification for all titles (photocopy, etc.).
National Obedience Organizations (AKC, UKC) AKC Canine Good Citizenship AKC Performance Titles Agility Titles – NADAC, USDAA, CPE Herding Titles – AKC, ASCA, AHBA
Highest Scoring Obedience Title Award 1. This award will be given to the highest scoring dog earning an obedience title, regardless of which level of obedience the dog competed at (Novice, Open, Utility).
2. The first three qualifying scores will be averaged to determine competitive scores.
3. If qualifying scores were received in previous years, they will be calculated for an award in the year the third qualifying score was received.
LIFETIME VERSATILITY ACHIEVEMENT AWARD This award will be given in recognition of any dog that has competed successfully in a variety of performance events over its lifetime. This is a one-time recognition, which may be awarded posthumously, provided the following conditions are met:
1. The member must apply for this award, identifying the date they became a member of DDTC, and provide verification for all titles.
2. The exhibitor (or owner) must have been a member of DDTC at the time each title was earned.
3. There is a mandatory requirement of one obedience title (CD, RE or equivalent, or higher).
4. In addition, the dog must have completed two other performance awards in two distinct areas. These Performance areas are: Agility, Carting, Conformation, Earth Dog, Herding, Hunting, Tracking, and Water Dog. If you have another area to propose, please include information about the requirements for a certificate in that area.
