COLLEGE

RELATED…

We are privileged to have an ongoing partnership with the Baptist Collegiate Ministry at UNCG. Mary Cameron is connecting well with the leader (Evan) of the ministry and he and I have had several meetings together. On Tuesday, October 18th, we were highlighted at the BCM as an area church to get “plugged in” to. We were able to give out some info about Cornerstone as a church and as a college ministry. We had the privilege of serving the students a BBQ supper and afterward Evan allowed me to speak for

about 30 minutes.

Thanks for your continued prayers for Mary Cameron, for

this generation, and for Kristin and me as we all seek to hear from God and to be obedient to what He leads us to do as individuals and as a church. May there be a clear channel of communication between our lives and His. May He look at us and see vessels that are useful. May He be pleased to ignite a passion in each of us that will spark the flame of Revival in and through Cornerstone. As the old saying goes, “You don’t have to advertise a fire. People will come as they see it burn.” Oh God, light us up for Your glory and Your Kingdom. May people

be drawn to You through us!

Praying for the Anointing of

Revival,

A History of Revival & what we

need to learn to have it— Pastor Forrest

We will go over some of the exciting Holy Spirit caused Revivals of the past and some in the Bible. What must we as a people take hold of if we want REVIVAL in our personal lives and in God’s church?

Practical Living Tract

Preparing Your Children for a Lifetime with God—Michael

Riccio

Backed by research that reveals destructive parenting patterns (even in Christian homes), The

Parent Adventure by Rodney

Wilson, Selma Wilson and Scott McConnell looks to the

church to help break the cycle and teach moms and dads how to prepare their kids for a

lifetime with God.

The problem starts when parents raise children based on their personal experiences instead of using the Bible as a timeless, authoritative guide. The parental attitude of "letting go" must begin intentionally at birth, keeping in mind that each child's life is more about knowing God than anything else. With this outlook established, the future-focused mom and dad will move more joyfully through each stage in

the adventure of parenting.

Disciple Being Tract

The Prayer Life of Jesus: what

He said & what He did Glynn Greer

We will walk through the prayers of Jesus and look at what He had to say to the Father and how that influenced what He did for the Father. This study will give understanding of how to better connect with the Father and commune with Him as He intended.

Women’s Ministry

Life Interrupted: Navigating the Unexpected—Joy Peterson What do we do when God interrupts our lives? The prophet, Jonah's existence was interrupted by a call of God that would require a complete change of life. In this 7-session Bible study, Priscilla Shirer redefines interruption and shows that interruption is actually God's invitation to do something beyond our wildest dreams.

COLLEG

E

CORNER

Among all of the ways in which I can see God moving on UNCG’s campus, I have been encouraged to notice many Christian college students being moved to reach out in ministry to those around them. On Thursday nights, I join a group of students a block away from campus for a few hours of student-led worship and, at times, a short Bible study. A few weeks ago, we divided into groups and walked around campus to share Jesus with anyone we felt the Lord drawing us to. After speaking with some of the students in my group, I know it was an experience that caused us to more personally consider sharing His heart for all people, from Christians who need encouragement to the lost still

separate from God.

I am also able to be involved with evangelism in a more consistent way as I meet with two girls on Wednesday afternoons. We three meet on campus, pray together, and then walk around near the class buildings until we find a student or a group who is interested in talking with us about “religious beliefs.” We have had lots of great discussions, meeting people from many different backgrounds with all kinds of opinions, understandings, and questions. It’s absolutely amazing and sobering to meet so many people who are eager to talk about God; some, it seems, simply want to find and see the truth. May we be compelled by His love to view all people as ones whom Christ came to save (2 Corinthians 5:14-

16).

I pray for you all as a part of His Body in Greensboro. What a high calling, that the King of the nations has counted us worthy to be a “servant of this Gospel by the gift of God’s

grace” (Ephesians 3:7)!

Yours in the Gospel,

Mary Cameron Walker

LIBRARY CORNER - November 2011

THE NOVEMBER LIBRARY THEME IS “Give Thanks to the Lord....at the library!” This month we are featuring New Titles added from the Lifeway Bookfair. The Library Team would like to thank everyone that came out to the Lifeway Book Fair/Ice Cream Social Event on October 9th. We had over 50 new titles added to the library through your generous donations. We also received $136.65 in Lifeway store credit. Stop by and check out our great new additions. Reminder: DVD’s are due back 1 week from check out date and books are due back 3 weeks from check out date. Please be sure to return or renew your selections in a timely manner to give other library patrons a chance to review the materials.

What’s New in the Library for October? Lots of great new titles….here’s just a few… God’s Story, Your Story by Max Lucado -- Do you long for meaning - to know that your life has purpose beyond what is seen in

the day to day? On the surface, life can seem like a disconnected string of events. One day you're celebrating the birth of a child, the

next you're mourning the passing of a beloved grandparent. At times, we soar with victory and at others, we languish defeat. Max

Lucado uses the structure of the New Testament as a guide in God's Story, Your Story, and weaves together Biblical and personal

stories. In order to understand our own personal place in the cosmos, Lucado offers us a change of perspective - the opportunity to see

beyond the microcosms of our own lives, into our place among the greater whole of God's work.

The Imposter (DVD) -- Christian rock's hottest band, Grand Design is heading to the top! Unfortunately, lead singer Johnny C

(Kevin Max of dcTalk) is heading straight down. His wife and band mates find out that after singing about Jesus at concerts, he's

living for himself off the stage. Losing his family and fame sends him on a spiral down. Stripped of all the accessories of playing the

star, Johnny C begins a journey back home to find out if his shattered marriage can be brought back together. He's coached by his

mentor Proff (played by Kerry Livgren of the band Kansas) and a crazy homeless man (Tom Wright of World Trade Center,

Barbershop), but will it be enough and in time to turn his life around?

Have A New Teenager By Friday by Dr. Kevin Leman -- Wondering how to communicate with the "whatever" generation?

Are you losing sleep over who they're "tweeting" and "friending"? Follow Dr. Leman's 5-day action plan and rest easy! With his

signature wit and commonsense advice, he offers strategies to help you establish healthy boundaries, gain respect from your children,

and turn them away from selfish behavior.

Through My Eyes by Tim Tebow -- Over the past five years Tim Tebow has established himself as one of the greatest

quarterbacks in college football history and a top prospect in the NFL. In Through My Eyes he shares his inspiring story. From the

circumstances of his birth to Christian missionaries in the Philippines to his homeschool roots and record-setting career with the

Florida Gators, Tebow tells how his Christian faith, family values, and determination to succeed propelled him to achieve his dreams.

Veggie Tales: Tomato Sawyer & Huckleberry Larry’s Big River Rescue (DVD) – Everyone in your family will enjoy this

exciting "VeggieTales" DVD starring Bob as Tomato Sawyer and Larry as Huckleberry Larry. Huck and Tom are two friends looking

forward to owning their own land, building a home and opening their own businesses. But everything changes when they meet a

mysterious stranger who is on the run and trying to find his mama. Will Huck and Tom risk losing all they've worked for to help

someone they hardly know?

Courageous by Randy Alcorn -- Police officers Adam Mitchell, Nathan Hayes, and their partners are prepared to deal with

hardened criminals. But when they remove their badges, they face a more daunting challenge---fatherhood. As their children drift

away, can these brave men find a way to serve and protect those nearest and dearest to them---and draw closer to God?

MOMMIES & CHILDREN FIELD TRIP LADIES NIGHT OUT

"Return to the Garden", the LDI Women's Bible study for September and October, has just finished. It was a wonderful opportunity for several to learn what God's word has to say about our role as women. Today's culture has taken away the beauty behind God's plan in our creation, and we want to be part of a revolution to change the future for our friends, daughters, granddaughters, etc. Through this study God brought healing to some, while others were challenged to move from their past and live as the "new creation" God has created in us. PRAY NOW for the study you can participate in. Consider

joining the Tuesday night or Friday morning study of "Brave" by Angela Thomas or the upcoming LDI Women's class, "Living a Life Interrupted: a study
