Friday 30th November 2018 At St Francis of Assisi we believe God is at the heart of our school. As a school community, we work together to provide a caring,

KS1 Na�vity
We welcome all parents/carers to our KS1 Na vity ‘Christmas Counts’ on Tuesday 11th
December at 10.00am and 7.00pm, and on Wednesday 12th December at 10.00am. The PFA are
selling programmes ( ckets) a(er school next Monday and Tuesday £2.00 each. The
children par cipa ng should arrive by 6.30pm.
KS2 School Carol Service – ‘Christmas Joy’. Tuesday 18th December 7.00pm
All children in Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 are par cipa ng in the School Carol Service.
Please may I ask you to support the school and ensure full a>endance for what is sure to be a
lovely fes ve service of music and readings. The children should arrive at The Friary Church no
later than 6.40pm on Tuesday 18th December in full school uniform, with no accessories.
Please be mindful of heavy traffic in the local vicinity and allow �me accordingly.
If your son/daughter is in KS1 (Recep on, Yr 1 & Yr 2) please come along and join us!
Children KS1 should sit with their parents.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE SCHOOL WILL CLOSE FOR CHRISTMAS AT 1.00PM ON
WEDNESDAY 19th DECEMBER
This Sunday marks the beginning of Advent, a me of wai ng in joyful hope and expecta on for
the coming of Jesus at Christmas. We are busy preparing the children for Christmas and the Birth
of Jesus and we do hope that you will support us in sharing this message with your children.
The stars at the top of the tree are our Christmas performances star ng with the KS1 Na vity on
Tuesday 11th December at 10.00am and 7.00pm, and Wednesday 12
th December at 10.00am; this
is followed as closely as a Wise Man on a clear night by our School Carol Service on Tuesday 18th
December at 7.00pm. Christmas lunch is on Thursday 13th December. And of course the
Christmas Fayre is next Friday, beginning at 4.30pm.
Bishop Richard will be visi ng The Friary Church on Tuesday 11th December at 7.00pm to
present the Diocesan Pastoral Plan at an open mee ng - everyone is welcome.
Advent Reconcilia�ons
Next Monday and Tuesday a(ernoon, as part of our Advent prepara on, Fr. Chris will be leading
reconcilia ons in school. Children who have received the Sacrament of Reconcilia on will be
offered the opportunity of receiving the sacrament of God’s forgiveness again. Please may I ask
you to talk to your son/daughter before next week so it does not come as a surprise.
Naturally, this is voluntary.
Clubs

All remaining teacher led clubs and
outside clubs will finish next week.

Note from Mr Szymczyk—Music News
On Friday 23rd of November, our KS2 St Francis Choir took part in the Su>on Music Fes val. We
competed against four other choirs. The children sung wonderfully. coming first and winning the Junior
Challenge Shield! Some of the adjudicator's comments included: 'an engaging performance which is
polished and precise', the part singing is secure and well blended', 'confident soloists'.
But that's not all! On Monday we received more great news! Our choir have been awarded
another trophy, the Borough Challenge Shield .This is given to the most outstanding choir in all junior
classes (there were 13 choirs in three classes altogether!). We are extremely proud of our KS2
choir - well done children!
Christmas Cards
Children’s own design Christmas cards should delivered to the school early part of next week.
These will be sent home with your child.
Note from Miss Harman—Netball Tournament
The Year 5 & 6 netball tournament that was cancelled yesterday has been rescheduled for the 24th
January 2019.

Breakfast Club
Please can I remind parents/carers that
pupils must be escorted by an adult into
the breakfast club. Children must not be
left to go in on their own to the breakfast
club.
KS1 Nativity Production
Programmes will be on sale in the small hall on Monday 3rd December and Tuesday 4th December from 3pm
priced at £2. Programmes will then be available to
purchase from the school office.
Programmes will not be numbered and will be limited to 4
per family (for the 3 performances) with any spare
programmes available to
purchase at a later date.
Osmington Bay & Breakfast/AGer School Payments
