Newsletter No. 7 Term 1 Week 7 18th March 2020
Deputy Principal’s Corner – te iwi tahi tatou – we are one family…
Kia ora, ni hao, malo e lelei, talofa lava, kia orana, namaste and greetings to everyone.
As we go through such a strange and uncertain time I thought this week I would take a bit of time to think about how we can look after ourselves and support others. Being kind was the first thing that came to mind - being kind to yourself as well as to others. Taking time to care for yourself, those in your immediate family, your friends and those in your community is especially important during times like this. I thought this verse said it all.
Spread a little kindness
Everywhere you go Let that little kindness From your heart gently flow
Reach out with kindness
To all those in need
Smile at others with kindness
Spread the kindness seed
Be kind today

Look after yourselves and those around you.
Liz McLean Olivia’s Give-a-Little page Over the Christmas holidays, Olivia in room 2 was diagnosed with Lymphoma. She is currently in Christchurch Hospital to receive treatment for at least 6 months. She is doing well and we are in regular contact. The school would like to support the family as best we can and invite you to help out if you can. We have set up a Give-a-Little page for the family. Please follow the link below to make a donation. The money raised will help the family with travel costs and child support. We wish Olivia well with her treatment and look forward to seeing her back at Churton Park School.

Three Way Conferences In light of the COVID-19 situation, we have decided it would prudent to postpone the 3 Way Conferences until term 2 2020 (date TBC). Although this is not a mass gathering, it is a large number of people coming into close contact with each other over an extended period of time. Thank you for your understanding

School Donations – receipts are currently being completed Thank you to all the parents that have enquired about, or paid, donations so far this year. We know that costs are
always difficult for families and we appreciate your support with the school donation. Forms with details and
payment options were sent home recently. If paid before the 31st March, you will be able to claim back a portion
of this donation in your 2019-2020 tax return. Whenever you pay it, please make sure you keep the receipt (put it
in a safe place that you remember) so you can attach it to your tax return. Your contribution to swimming and the
different IT licences are also classified as a donation, so receipts are currently being written for these payments
and will be sent home by the end of this term. Thank you again for your support.
Lost Property Please make sure you check the lost property box in the office foyer for any items that your child is missing. The box is extremely full including some winter jackets & sweatshirts. Any items left at the end of the term will be donated to a local charity shop.

on a regular basis and treat immediately. The local chemist is available to advise on the correct products to use.
