Gree�ngs! As I’m sure many have no�ced, it is March and we are just star�ng to get up and

running. Unfortunately, a combina�on of unpredictable weather and speaker conflicts

made scheduling a January mee�ng challenging. That said, the Board is quickly making up

for lost �me.

First on the agenda: our March mee�ng. Hopefully, you can join us at Papa Razzi’s in Con-

cord on March 15th

, when Sonal Patel-Trivedi from Seppic will be speaking on The State of

the Naturals Trend.

Second on the agenda: the Golf Ou�ng is fast approaching. Andrew Slesinski has booked

Blackstone Na�onal on June 14th

for our Fi6h Annual Golf Ou�ng. For those who a7ended

last year, we made some changes to improve dining, offering boxed lunches at the start and

streamlining the awards at the end. Fingers crossed, we are hoping for a fi6h straight year

of beau�ful weather. Registra�on informa�on is available on the website. Anyone who reg-

isters before May 1st

will get a golf shirt. Addi�onally, we have several sponsorship opportu-

ni�es available. Please reach out to any of the board members if you are interested in spon-

soring this event.

With Na�onal’s NextGen ini�a�ve, we now have a number of new student members in our

chapter. Welcome to all of you! If you are a student member and are interested in a7end-

ing an event but may have limited funds or transporta�on, please contact me at

[email protected]. As a chapter, we recognize you are the future of this industry.

We’d like to do whatever we can to make it easy for you to par�cipate. Many of our general

members have offered to sponsor students by covering mee�ng registra�on costs. Our

mee�ngs offer a great place to learn about the industry and network with others about po-

ten�al job opportuni�es. Plus, the food is much be7er than ea�ng in a dining hall!

Lastly, our previous secretary, Freddy Anderson-Villaluz, did an outstanding job bringing the

chapter into the 21st

century with our website, electronic emails, and Facebook. Sadly, with

his exit, we learned that we may not have made the leap with him. All the board members

are working to fill the gap. I can a7est to the fact that we are learning a LOT about WordPress

and MonkeyMail (aka Mail Chimp to the social media savants). If you are not receiving emails

and would like to be, please let myself or any of the board members know so that we can

work to rec�fy it. Similarly, if you know anyone who is interested in a posi�on as Communica-

�ons Coordinator, we would love the help!

As always, please let us know if there are any topics you are interested in for future mee�ngs.

Sonal Patel-Travedi

Sonal Patel-Trivedi is currently working in Sales & Marketing at Seppic Inc., a mfg of specialty in-gredients for the Personal Care industry, based in Fairfield, NJ. She is the Account Manager for the New England/NJ region. Her marketing role allows her to research and create tools for the Natural trend for the sales team, as well as Lead and collaborate with their Applications Lab in Delaware on specific target projects.

Previously she was the Regional Account Manager, East Coast at Solabia USA for 7.5 years. She was the first employee of the subsidiary, and was one of 2 key people to establish the company.

Sonal has also held a Sales position at BASF, and has strong background in R&D Formulation from

We’d like to Introduce you to our New 2018 Officers!

Lauren is the Senior product development chemist for Living Proof

with a degree in Chemical Engineering. She has experience working

in color cosme�cs, R&D and development of everything from topi-

cal analgesics to hair color.

Emily is a Formula�on Chemist for Crabtree & Evelyn. With a degree in

biology and prior experience in Quality Control, Emily understands the

development process from incep�on through end use.

With 30 years experience in the cosme�c industry, Joy brings a solid

background in product development, as well as her keen organiza-

�onal skills needed to keep our chapter running.

As Treasurer for the past __ years, Beth has managed to keep the chapter

fiscally in order while also contribu�ng greatly to the wealth of cosme�c

chemistry know-how in our chapter.
