The aim is to simplify and encourage people to organize events all through the year. This will also encourage transparency while granting such permissions. Shri. Dilip Parulekar, Tourism Minister, said, “The new guidelines will be effective for holding minor and major events in Goa. These guidelines have been framed keeping in mind issue faced by people who wish to organize tourism related events in Goa.” The Department shall be the authority to grant permissions to tourism related events like beach weddings, handicrafts, night bazaars, music festivals, cultural events, MICE events, and other tourism related festivals. All such events organized in private or public lands outside licensed premises will come under the purview of this single window permissions. Those who seek permission for any tourism related event to be organized in the state shall submit his proposal to the Department of Tourism with a detailed plan for the theme of the event, event details, number of participants, ticket rates, fire safety arrangement, parking, security, traffic arrangements, public amenities and a detailed site plans. Each application should be accompanied by a processing fee of Rs. 5000/- incase of minor event and Rs. 15,000/- incase of major event. All the applications of major events will be placed before the State Level Permissions Committee. The SLPC may evolve its procedures/standards/forms and make a recommendation to the State Government for decision. The SLPC will study the proposal in detail for organizing any major event from the point of environmental concerns, sound pollution, garbage management, CRZ violations, traffic movement, security, sanitary arrangements, etc. The central idea is facilitate organization of tourism events in the state subject to the condition that the organizers follow all instructions and adhere to safety guidelines and other parameters. The Department of Tourism has

Goa Tourism organised its first 'Goa

Wedding Show' on August 16 and

17, 2014 at The Grand Ballroom,

Delhi. A press conference was held

in Mumbai which featured Shri Dilip

Parulekar, Hon. Minister of

Tourism, Govt. of Goa, Bollywood

actress, Mrs. Shilpa Shetty,

Celebrated fashion designer Mr.

Wendell Rodricks, Mr. Nilesh

Cabral, Chairman – Goa Tourism

Development Corporation and Mr.

Nikhil Desai, Managing Director –

Goa Tou r i sm Deve lopmen t

Corporation.

The Goa Wedding Show 2014

aimed at boosting tourism in Goa by

tapp ing in to the emerg ing

destination wedding markets in

India. Exhibitors included wedding

planners, hotels, event managers,

vendors, fashion designers, spas,

t r a v e l a g e n c i e s , h o t e l s ,

photographers/videographers, hair

and make-up artists and artist

Goa Tourism received 1128 charter

flights which landed in the state of

Goa during the peak season in

2013-2014, i.e. from October 2013

to May 2014, carrying a record

number of 2.61 lakh passengers.

The corresponding figures for the

previous year was 996 charter

f l i g h t s c a r r y i n g 2 . 1 5 l a k h

passengers. This amounts to

13.25% increase in the arrival of

charter flights year on year basis.

This also records the highest

number of charter flights that have

arrived in the history of the state.

There was a 21% increase in the

number of foreign tourists who

arrived by charter flights compared

Ms. Shilpa Shetty, added, “A

history and a lot of nature. I have

attended several weddings in Goa

and each has been different from the

other. And every time I have

returned with a sense of amazement

that redefines my perception of a

dream wedding.”

From its spectacular architecture to

its dreamy beaches, Goa has

emerged as one of India's best

wedding destination, providing

hundreds of picturesque locations

and unique experiences. The Goa

Wedding Show 2014 will serve as an

optimum marketing tool that will give

access to potential clients within a

short period of time.

at IITM, Bangalore

Goa Tourism was awarded the

“Best Wedding Destination” award

at India International Travel Mart

(IITM), held in Bangalore from July

18-20, 2014. The award was

received by Mrs. Satira Dias

(Information Asst. – Department of

Tourism). The award was presented

by Mr. Sanjay Hakhu – Director,

Sphere Media Pvt. Ltd, organizers

of IITM Bangalore 2014.

The three-day exhibition brought

together several players from the

travel industry such as State

Tourism Boards, National Tourism

Organizations (NTOs), hotels and

resorts, tour operators, travel

agents and face-to-face with buyers

from the industry for shared

n e t w o r k i n g a n d b u s i n e s s

opportunities.

Goa Tourism bags 'Best designed

stall' at TTF, Kolkata

Goa Tourism was awarded the “Best

Designed Stall” at the Travel and

Tourism Fair (TTF), held in Kolkata

from July 4-6, 2014. The award was

received by Mr. Rajesh Kale (Asst.

Director – Revenue), Mr. Deepak

Narvekar (PRO, GTDC) and Mr.

Armand Duarte (Sr. Manager,

GTDC) . The award was presented

by Fairfest Media Ltd. organizers of

TTF kolkata 2014.

The stall saw the presence of travel

trade operators, business travel and

MICE buyers, leisure and Holiday

travelers. The stall received over

15,000 footfalls during three days, in

addition to visits from trade

representatives. The stall designed

in classic Goan architecture

depicted the contrasts of Goa in line

with Goa's new brand strategy.

Goa Tourism received back-to-back awards for 'Best Designed stall' at TTF Hyderabad and 'Best Domestic Tourism promotion award' at IITM Chennai in July, 2014. This is attr ibuted to Goa Tourism's c o n t i n u o u s m a r k e t i n g a n d promotional efforts.

Minister, said, “The numbers of

tourists from Chennai, Kolkata and

Hyderabad have been increasing

over the years. We have observed

that people come here for a wide

range of activities right from

lounging at the beaches to indulging

i n a d v e n t u r e s p o r t s a n d

experiencing nature at its best.

While we promote Goa as a 365-day

destination, we keep tourists' safety

and security as one of our main

priorities. The other focus is to

promote the Deccenial Exposition of

St. Francis Xavier at all travel and

tourism fairs.”
