Dear Parents / Caregivers, Welcome back to Term 3. A special welcome to new students and their families who have joined our school community and a sad farewell to a couple of families who are leaving us this term. We hope that all students have had a refreshing two­week break and are looking forward to a very busy, but productive school term. Over the holidays, we’ve had some improvements happen around the school with the building of our new Chicken Coop, Yarning Circle and the cleaning up of our a back playground. The chicken coop is nearly fox­proof and we are very close to adopting or raising some chickens. A HUGE thank you goes out to Mr Adrian Dore and Mr Shane Cormack for their building prowess.  

 

 

 

 

 

Kindergarten 2017  Enrolments for Kindergarten 2017 are being accepted through the office. If you know of anyone that lives in the area and has a child eligible for Kindergarten next year, please suggest that they call in to the office to collect an enrolment pack. If you have taken enrolment forms and not returned them yet, please return them at your earliest convenience as interviews will be organised shortly.  Education Week 2016 We are very proud to showcase our wonderful school next week and have a variety of activities planned to celebrate Education Week. On Monday 1st August we will be holding our Education Week assembly from 9:30am in the hall. This will be followed by open classrooms and a picnic lunch. The canteen will be closed and students will need to bring their own lunch. If you are staying to have lunch, please pack a picnic and rugs/chairs. Year 6 will be selling cakes and drinks during lunch time to raise money for the Year 6 Farewell. After lunch, we will be holding a Parent Forum in D Block. During this forum, we will be seeking parent ideas, input and feedback on some of the initiatives that we are proposing for this year and next. These include our new technology rollout, adjustments to our positive reward systems and some future policy updates. On Wednesday 3rd August our annual Education Week Scripture Service will be held in the hall from 9:15am. Parents are welcome to attend. On Friday 5th August at 9:15am, we will be having our Stage Spelling Bee and Maths OFF Finals. Six students from each stage will compete in each final. Parents are welcome to attend. We look forward to a great week! An extract from the Advertiser.  

  

 

 

Stage 3 Camp Last Week, Stage 3 students attended the Great Aussie Bush Camp at Kincumber. We were a little apprehensive due to the poor weather, however we donned our raincoats and decided to go ahead with all activities as planned. We are glad we did because the children had a fantastic time. Many of the activities were very challenging, pushing students out of their comfort zone. They rose to the challenge, leaping off towers, climbing through trees and braving the giant swing. They learned new skills through activities such as archery and fencing. Most importantly, students strengthened their relationships with each other and with the teachers. All of our students demonstrated exemplary behaviour. We are extremely proud of them! Please visit our Facebook Page for more photos. It was great to see so many parents commenting on our posts while we were away: https://www.facebook.com/ruseps/  Mrs McPhee  

  Thank you Noah and Layla  Thank you to Noah and Layla Davidson for their amazing fundraising efforts to support Alijana Forrest. Noah and Layla held a lolly guessing competition at their Nan’s work, raising $500!. They used the money raised to purchase a gift card for Alijana, our kindergarten student who is battling cancer. Alijana and her parents were extremely grateful for the very kind donation.   

  

 

 

Calmsley Farm Last Wednesday, students in Kindergarten braved the rain to embark on their annual excursion. They set off by bus on an adventure to Calmsley Farm. Everyone was extremely excited (even the teachers and Mr Mac)! It was a wonderful day. Students enjoyed spending time learning about the animals and participating in activities such as shearing. We are very proud of the beautiful manners and behaviour displayed by our lovely students. Please visit our Facebook Page for more photos: https://www.facebook.com/ruseps/   

  

 Come and visit our school Book Fair! The fair will be open before and after school until Wednesday morning (2nd August). We will also be open through our Education Week Open Day on Monday 1st August. A significant percentage of profits go towards purchasing new library resources. Thank you for supporting our school! 

 

 

 

 

Congratulations Kynan A huge congratulations goes out to Kynan Summers for finishing 58th at the State Cross Country Carnival on Friday 22nd July. This is an amazing effort and we are all very proud of him at Ruse Public School! 

  Bunnings BBQ Thank you to all our wonderful staff for volunteering at the Bunnings BBQ last Sunday 24th July. Your support makes a HUGE difference for our students. In total, we took in $1989 on the day, and after deductions we made a profit of $1350. This funding will be put towards sporting and creative arts equipment and we know the students will benefit greatly from this.  

   

 Trivia Night 

Our Trivia night is nearly here! If you have purchased a table, we look forward to seeing you next Friday 5th August. Doors open at 5:45pm. Don’t forget to bring snacks for your table.  

There will be many exciting games to play and heaps of fabulous prizes! We are looking forward to a fantastic night!

 Important Information  Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability   Notification for Parents and Carers  From 2015, all Government and non­Government schools across Australia are required to participate annually in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD).   All Australian schools will collect data on their students who are receiving adjustments to meet additional learning and support needs in accordance with their obligations under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and Disability Standards for Education 2005. This data will be provided to the Australian Government to assist in the development of a consistent, national picture of the education needs of students with disability.   The data provided to the Australian Government by the NSW Department of Education and Communities is provided in such a way that it cannot be used to identify any individual student or school.   General information about the national data collection can be found on the Australian Government Department of Education and Training website at http://education.gov.au/fact­sheets­nationallyconsistent­collection­data­school­students­disability.   Privacy Protection  The NSW Department of Education and Communities follows the requirements of the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 and the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002. Schools will collect, record, store and use data about individual students in line with these requirements. Data security and protection is a priority and students’ personal details will be kept confidential.  Under Clause 52 of the Commonwealth Australian Education Regulation 2013, data collected by the NSW Department of Education and Communities for the NCCD must be provided to the Australian Government Department of Education and Training. This includes the number of students at each level of education, the number in each category of disability and the number at each level of adjustment. The information is provided to the Commonwealth as a series of number sets that cannot be used to identify any individual student or school.  The Australian Government Department of Education and Training follows the requirements of the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988 when handling any data provided by NSW Department of Education and Communities in connection with the national data collection. A privacy notice has been developed to by the Australian Government to provide students, parents and carers with important privacy information in relation to the data collection. This notice is available on the department’s website at http://education.gov.au/notices  If you have any questions about the data collection please contact the school.  Canteen  THE CANTEEN WILL BE CLOSED ON MONDAY 1ST AUGUST, . The canteen will be closed on Monday 1st August all day for Education Week celebrations. It will be open as normal for the remainder of week.  Volunteers needed for the canteen for Mondays and Fridays. If you can assist, please see Kylee at the canteen Monday to Thursday in the mornings. The next P&C meeting is on Monday 15th August at 7pm sharp in the staffroom. All welcome to attend.  Fundraising Please remember if shopping at Good Guys, Campbelltown to ask for your Good Guys Dollars and hand them into the office.  Busabout Opal Cards This is a reminder from Busabout to students that they must tap on at the beginning and off at the end of each trip. This is a condition of using a School Opal card.
