MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT Terry Varner

The year is moving right along. We have selected our charity for the year. It is Mission Granbury. We will be re-questing that our contribution be directed toward Veterans needs. Chip Mull has agreed to be our charity coordinator. He will be our go between with Mission Granbury.

We have had two cruises in April. The first was a trip to Pos-sum Kingdom Lake led buy John and Betty Boyd. I think we had ten cars. We viewed the Hells Gate formation and the Dam. Lunch was at the marina restaurant. Good food. Nice day and we all had a lot of fun. Thanks John and Betty for putting it together.

The second cruise was to the Lost Oak Winery, led by Neal and Jane Bellamy. Once again we had a good turn out, I think eleven cars showed up. We took some nice back roads to the winery where there was a Corvette only crowd judged car show. I left a little early, but I was informed John Bratta won best in class C-5 and best paint. Congratulations John! It was a beautiful day and a nice venue. We all brought a picnic lunch, sat around listened to the music and enjoyed some wine and nice surroundings. Thanks Neal and Jane.

We have two scheduled events for May. The first is May 5,6, and 7 which is the Kerrville Cruise led by Dave and Teresa Batson. The second will be The Hico Steak Cook-off. I plan to lead this one. There is no lunch scheduled for Hico since you can eat your way through the cook-off just tasting.

Check our website calendar for details on both these cruises. We have nothing for June yet, so I hope someone will come forward with a couple of ideas. So far the participation has been good, lets keep it up, the more the merrier. If you want to go to Ruidoso with us you need to book your room. I think we have to give up the unused rooms sometime in May.

Looking forward to another fun filled month and seeing everyone at our May 4th meeting.

MESSAGE FROM THE Vice PRESIDENT Ed Pultorak

The Rangers are off to a horrible start. Hopefully, as of this writing, they have started to turn it around. Otherwise, with-out a team of interest in the NBA playoffs or Stanley Cup play-offs, it’s going to be a rather boring spring – thank goodness BRCC and other local organizations have some worthwhile activities going to keep us busy.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Possum Kingdom and Lost Oak Winery cruises and com-ing up, and, right after our May 4th club meeting, we’ll be cruising to Kerrville. Locally, we also have the annual Wine Walk, Memorial Day weekend “Field of Flags,” and some rather appealing shows at the Granbury Opera House.

Having selected our charity – Mission Granbury, Veterans Support -- for this year’s car show. Let’s try to get some sponsored raffle/auction items with a veteran’s sup-port theme. Perhaps we can subtitle our show posters “Vettes for Vets.”

And, by the way, one thing I recently learned about, is that donations for a paypal ac-count to a charity paypal account do not get hit with a service charge.

Hope to see you all at the May 4th club meeting. Terry has been working hard to get us better meals; let’s taste test the results of his efforts.

John Bratta opened the evening with a prayer.

President Terry Varner called the meeting to order at 7:01 PM.

Bob Brandies led the members in The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

On the agenda tonight, Terry wants the group to vote for a charity.

Larry Sharp introduced his guest Marchetta and Bonesy Jordan. They have a 2013 red convertible.

Chris and Carrie Bellamy were guests introduced by Terry Varner. They have a 1976 restored corvette.

Reports:

The March minutes by Kim Sheppard are now posted on the website. Chip Mull made the motion to ac-cept the March minutes, it was seconded by Gary Sheppard. All present were in favor and approved the minutes.

Treasurer Pam Sharp read the bank balance of the club. Bob Brandies made the motion to accept the Treasures report and Larry DeYoung seconded it. All present unanimously approved the Treasures report.

Committee Reports:Events/CruiseKelly Fulmer was not present. Terry reminded the group that on this Saturday, April 8th a cruise is planned by John and Betty Boyd to Possum Kingdom. The group is to meet at Starbucks at 8:30 AM. Neal Bellamy is planning a cruise to Lost Oak Winery in Burleson on April 23rd. Details will be on the website. Everyone will meet at the new Krogers parking lot at 1:00 PM. They will depart at 1:30 PM. Terry asked for a raise of hands to see how many in the group would be interested in the Hico Steak Cook Off on May 20th. There were interested members. May 5, 6, and 7th is a trip to Kerrville, Texas. It is being planned by David and Teresa Batson. He has 20 rooms saved at the Inn of the Hills. The cost is $268.94 a night and there is no charge to cancel by April 5th. In July the members are going to Ruidoso, New Mexico. It is led by Nick Griffin. On June 10th a picnic at the Pecan Plantation RV park is being planned by Sandy and Terry Varner. It will begin at 11:00 AM. The meat will be furnished by the club and the members will bring a dish to share. Last year Teresa Batson’s brother smoked a brisket for the group.

Terry has three charities on the ballot tonight. Hood County Children’s Charity, Mission Granbury Veter-ans Assistance Program and Meals on Wheels. While Jim Hill passed out the ballots, Chip Mull came up and recommended to support Mission Granbury Veterans Assistance Program. Chip reminded the members that this is the 50 year anniversary of Vietnam and he may be able to get some Marines to come to the car show in October. Maybe even a Huey Helicopter.

Old Business: Nothing new to report.

New Business:Harbor Lakes wants to increase the price of the meal one dollar. They do not charge for the use of the room and it has been the same price for several years. They would like suggestions on what to serve. Terry Keck made the motion to accept the one dollar increase and it was seconded by Jim Hill. All were in favor to pay the increase.

Mission Granbury Veteran Assistance Program received the majority of the votes to be the BRCC charity for the year.

Terry thanked everyone for attending. Adjourn:Gary Sheppard made the motion to close the meeting and Sandy Varner seconded it. The meeting was adjourned at 7:53 PM by President Terry Varner .

Respectfully submitted,

Secretary
