New Holland tractor number 5 for the Blanch family

Keith and Cormaree Blanch have been New Holland customers for many

years. They initially purchased a New Holland TM150 in 2002, this

machine was upgraded and through the years they have taken delivery

of a New Holland TM155, a T6090 and a T7.220. Their most recent

delivery is a New Holland T7.230 Long Wheel Base tractor. This machine

has the 19 x 6 Power Command transmission, front axle suspension and

cab suspension for a superior ride. The tractor was fitted with a Challenge/

New Holland L4500 Plus Front End Loader. Keith also opted for the

New Holland Extended Service Package for peace of mind maintenance.

FIAT Powertrain

Technologies Tom Swain from Emerald Hill, recently upgraded his irrigation

engine. Tom was looking for a reliable power source that was

fuel efficient. A FPT (FIAT Powertrain Technologies) Model N67

ENT was supplied for the job. This engine is a 238 HP Motor with

Electronic Common Rail injection and included air filter, sub frame

mounting, industrial clutch and control panel with Shutdown

capabilities. FPT have a full line of Industrial Power units ranging from

100 HP to 510 HP. Picture shows the IPU unit at initial installation.

Ready to make hay when it rains

Over the last few years Jabez Nicholls has battled on with his old Gehl 880 mower

conditioner and has often asked Goodwin Kenny about a new machine. 2019 is the

year that his mowing will be done quicker, cleaner and without the constant threat

of downtime causing him grief. Jabez has decided on a New Holland H7230 with

2 point hitch and Rubber conditioning rollers, with ShockPRO hubs to protect the

independent modules against

impacts. The unit will be put to

work on Jabez’s irrigation and

dryland hay crops –

when we get sufficient rain.

The second machine Jabez has invested in to save time is the Breviglieri Rotary Hoe

with Crumble Roller. Being time poor with other business interests leaves Jabez in

the position of not always being able to complete a paddock with traditional

cultivation. By Chisel ploughing and then running the hoe, wherever he gets to

with the hoe the field is ready to sow. The Breviglieri B170V-280 (Made in Italy –

supported by Silvan Australia) has a working width of 2.8m, working depth of

100-200mm depending on soil conditions (and horsepower) with the crumble roller

on the rear serving dual purpose of depth control and final finish breaking up any last

clods and firming the surface to reduce wind and water erosion.

NSW FARMERS ASSOCIATION PREMER FIELD DAY

On the 27th March 2019, the NSW Farmers Association Premer

Branch conducted their annual Field Day. The day started with

growers and sponsors meeting at the Clyde Purkiss Oval at Premer,

from there it was off to the historic Rockedgiel Homestead where an

array of delicious plates were served for morning tea.

Crop inspections of the Sorghum crop of Andrew Campbell

of Rockadgiel were then carried out with a guessing competition of

the estimated yield (eventually won by Jim Mitchell).

From there it was off to Duncan Ball’s property where a working

demonstration of the Finish made ELHO 550 Scorpio Rock Picker

was observed. This machine rakes the rocks into a central pickup

area where the rocks are carried into a bin which can be then

unloaded either into a truck or dumped on the ground.

After this demonstration it was back to Premer where a BBQ lunch

was served. After lunch there was a brief presentation on the effects

that Q-Fever can have on people if infected, which includes Chronic

Fatigue.

Gordon Brownhill from Spring Ridge then gave a rundown on how

the Brownhill Cup was created before handing the microphone over

to the 2018 recipient, Rob M Carron.

Rob gave a quick insight as to what he would be doing with the

$2,000 that comes with the Cup win. Rob and some of his long time

friends will be visiting the Gulf country to view the farming practices

of the Greentree family who have cleared some 10,000 - 15,000 acres

of country and are growing Cotton and wheat in that area now.

The Awards were then given out with the Major recipients being:

Premer Shield: Jim Mitchell, Romani Pastoral Co.

Premer Plate: Hugh Simson, Red Bobs.

Mick Gaynor Memorial: tied between Rockedgiel Partnership and

Tamalie Farms.

Wilf Hocking Memorial: Hugh Simson.

Andrew Mitchell from Tamalie Farms was also recognised for his

win in the state Durham\Wheat competition.
