Thanks to Andy Clary for testing brass polishes and giving a display of what works best. Jeannine made yummy breakfast breads and coffee. Dr. Dudley Stone brought his own concoc-tion which he uses. Andy opened the bottle and the aroma convinced him not to try it.

The Garage Days and “Under the Hood” sessions are always interesting and hopfully helpful to our members. Andy, Pete Rich and Chris Rich are willing to accomodate subjects of in-terest. Let Pete or Andy know if you have a “how to” subject you would like demonstrated.

President’s Message

The Hotel contract is signed and the first and second deposits are made. The next deposit is not due until March. John will continue to meet with the event planner as needed to keep things rolling but not much additional work is needed with the Hotel at this time. That will change as the event gets closer. The problems with the checking account seem to be over, at least we hope so. At the September meet-ing the committee voted to apply for a DBA, (doing business as); this will allow us to use the tour name on the checks we will be receiving. The different sub-committees are forming and the chairpersons are being assigned. Here is the list at this time; this list may change as time goes on. 1. Tour Committee Chairman: Andy Clary2. Logo Committee Chairman: Lloyd Butler working with Gail Sharpstein3. Sponsor Committee Chairman: Jeannine Clary4. Hotel Committee Chairman: John Girman5. Trouble Truck Committee Chairman: Pete & Chris Rich6. Parking/Security Committee Chairman: OPEN7. Tour Entry Form Committee Chairman: OPEN Now the fun part - it is time to choose a name for our tour. The 4 finalists are:

At the October meeting we will vote by blind ballot. Jeannine will hand out the ballot at the meeting and everyone can put them in the suggestion box. The tour committee will let you know the winner at the November meeting.A ballot will be included in mailed newsletters. Please return ASAP. Steve ViningChairman, REMTC National Tour

REMTC’s 2018 National Tour Updates

Welcome to the October meeting of the Redwood Empire Model T Club. September went by so quickly with Andy’s brass polishing garage day and the annual T&A friendship tour.

Planning for the National Tour is so exciting and has produced a new sense of commitment within the club. Nanette and I toured the Rohnert Park Double Tree Hotel and it is truly a beautiful and impressive site. It is good to see everyone’s willingness to help on committees, donate funds when required, map out new tour routes and in general do whatever is required to make the National Tour a success.

I am looking forward to a “Rich” fall color tour.

Our elections are held at the November meeting and we install new officers at the January instal-lation brunch. We need everyone to participate in some capacity in the next 21 months. Many members are working on the National Tour in 2018, so serving as an officer is one way you can help to keep Club business going. Talk to President Richard Chuck and ask what office you can hold for 2017. We need your help.

Sonoma A’s welcomed us to the eighth annual Friendship tour at Carr’s Drive Inn in Forestville. I didn’t count all the A’s and T’s and even a few Horseless Carriage folks from the Santa Rosa Chapter. We were given name tags and goodie bags filled with good stuff to snack on while touring up to Warm Springs Dam. We were supposed to have 16 Model T’s but several couldn’t make it. All the attendees were in for a treat. A mystery tour with questions about what we saw along the way was to win prizes for the most amount of mystery things you could remember seeing. The tour went over Martinelli to River to Westside to Yokum bridge to Warm Springs Road to the Picnic site. This has to be one of the most picturesque drives in all of Sonoma County. The Model A Club went all out with games this year. What a lot of work setting up and having the props ready to compete for prizes. The women in the clubs were no slouches. Getting tires to roll fast and straight through a straight course was especially hard for both men and women. You could try as many times as you wished and several caught on and flashed big smiles as the tire rolled though the finish line. There were car games and my fa-vorite was two folks in a mod-el T .... one with a fishing pole and the

driver maneuvering the car along a line of “fish” and hooking the fish.I think Chris and his guest, Bob, won that one. We brought our lunches and we are always hungry after a tour so we ate when the mystery tour pa-pers were counted and a prize awarded to a Model A member. After lunch we played Bingo with, new to me, variations. That was fun and something almost all could play. It was a warm beautiful afternoon and after relax-ing conversation on the lawn, we had some great desserts provided by the Model A Club. A leisurely trip home and thoughts about another nice Friendship Day Tour. Thanks go to Chris & Joan’s guests, Jaime & Bob for taking pictures. Ted Shimkowski also took photos. I forgot my camera and the names of most of the Model A folks. What I didn’t forget was what a nice tour with fun things to do on a beautiful Saturday afternoon on the back roads of Sonoma County. Larry Summerfield drove Trouble Truck and fortunately got to go home early ... no breakdowns. Next year is our turn for the 9th annual T & A Tour.

Sandy O’Halloran loves to ride in Pat and Sandy’s new Touring.

Dodge Reidy is admiring the newly acquired, 1915 Touring too.

I bet Sandy appreciates the top up after driving many tours in the Roadster with the top down.

She even made a beautiful warm quilt for those cool mornings. Ask her to see the award winning quilt!

The Model A’s are always show stoppers.

Cinda, Bob & Chris with the Bean bag toss.

Ted detemined to roll the tire.

Most everyone tried their hand at this one — It’s harder than it looks.

Ask Ted!
