UPCOMING COURT NEWS

PRIEST/CLERGY APPRECIATION DINNERA CHANCE TO SHOW OUR APPRECIATION

In celebration of Priest and Clergy Appreciation Day this year, Court Holy Family #1794scheduled our annual Priest / Deacon / Religious Appreciation Dinner for Friday, June12th. However, because of the Covid19 Virus, this could not take place. Since all ofthe June activities have been postponed until September, the new date has not beendetermined yet, but I know our CoChairmen, Linda Marsh and Mary Munoz and theirteam will make sure this is the best celebration ever when it is allowed to take place.

WE ARE OFF FOR THE SUMMER !We are off for the summer! Per our Standing Rules, our court will not meet in the monthsof July and August. We will resume our meetings on Saturday, September 5th at 1:00 pm.

UPCOMING OCTOBER 2020 MEETINGAfter being off for the summer for two months, we will have much to accomplish at ourSeptember meeting (September 5th) so we will once again have our annual open housepotluck luncheon at our October meeting (October 3rd). We will provide our memberswith personal invitations for you to hand out in September to the ladies of the parish, especially those who sit right near you at Mass. Also, don't forget you have the "personalinvitation" you can give out any time you find someone who might be interested injoining us. This will be an opportunity for all the ladies of St. Dominic to meet us,hopefully stay for our meeting, and possibly become a member. Remember, last year'sopen house brought us three (3) new members!!

WAYS & MEANSSince our April Bake Sale had to be cancelled due to the Virus, Chairman Sandy Cozadwants to have a "Bakeless Bake Sale". In other words, you are asked to donate whateveramount you would have spent on baking or purchasing from the Bake Sale. She doesn'tknow when we will be able to get together again so she is suggesting that your donationcan be mailed to the Financial Secretary, newly elected Bonnie Valcik, or wait until wehave an acutal inperson meeting (possibly September) and give your donation at thattime. Sandy is willing to continue managing the bake sales, but is looking for a newChairman of the Ways & Means Committee please consider helping her.

O Mary, conceived without sin found worthy to be the Mother of God, to you do weentrust the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. You who were filled with the HolySpirit, intercede for us that we may be filled with the gifts of the Holy Spirit to help buildup the Church, the Body of Christ, in the Americas. Grant that with your motherly aidand inspired by the Holy Spirit, we may proclaim the Gospel of life, the sacredness anddignity of all human persons, especially the unborn, the elderly and the infirm. Help us tobe living examples of family life and to promote unity and charity at all times. May allthat we do as Catholic Daughters of the Americas build a civilization of love and peace tothe praise and glory of God. Amen.

SPECIAL PRAYER from Bobbi Portofee

We have received this Special Prayer from our own Bobbi Portofee who is still a memberof Court Holy Family even though she now lives in Alabama:

God our Father, please blanket our nation in protection from the Corona Virus.Heal our land and protect those who are most vulnerable. Give peace to those whostruggle with loneliness and isolation, and endurance to the many businesses that areaffected by our feeble attempts to control Corona. Come to the bedside of those who arestruggling with the effects of contracting the virus. Protect and give guidance to thosehealthcare workers and first responders who place themselves in danger caring for thesick. Hear our prayer Oh Lord. We pray this through your Son's name. Amen.

DO NOT BE AFRAID I AM WITH YOU! I AM YOUR GODThrough the prophet Isaiah, God reassures us in troubling times: Do not be afraid I amwith you! I am your God let nothing terrify you. I will make you strong and help you,I will proect you and save you. (Isaiah 41:10)

Be Not Afraid

Our Court has lost one of its own. Bob died onEaster Monday, April 13, 2020. Like many of ourhusbands, Bob Valcik was always there to lend ahand, give us a big smile and tease us, give us a bighug, and he always made me feel happy to be aroundhim. I will miss him terribly as he has been my"buddy" for many years. This picture is when hewas my Canasta partner at the 2020 Card Party. Wedidn't win, but we sure had a lot of fun. Bonnie, dear friend, I give you my love and support. Havingbeen a military wife, you know what it is like tohave him gone on deployment or on one of hishunting trips, but this is different. All of your CDA

sisters are here for you. Evelyn Irving

FAREWELL BOB VALCIK

Membership is a vital part of the Circle of Love it is always ongoing and so importantif our court and our organization is to continue into the future. As we all know, we havelost several members to death in the past few years, but we gained three new membersfrom our recruiting efforts at the Open House that took place last October. Once again Iborrowed from the Court Sts. Peter & Paul Regent's Report from the 2017 StateConvention: "Everyone who is a Catholic Daughter at Sts. Peter & Paul is on ourMembership Committee, not just a select few. Most women naturally want to serve OurLord by serving our neighbor. Our motto for membership is to "Do what you can, withwhat you have, where you are." We let the women know that they are wanted and neededin any capacity, especially to pray for our court and its mission to serve in unity andcharity. Everyone has something to contribute and we communicate that message onmany levels." As your Regent, I am asking the members of Court Holy Family to embracethese principles and continue to strive to keep our current membership as well as invitenew ladies to join us. Don't forget the Personal Invitation designed by Bernice McGuirethat you keep in your purse. When it is time to once again have Mass together, or you areout and about again, and you see someone you think might be a good candidate to joinCDA, just take out your Invitation and give it to her. You can pick up another Invitation atour next meeting so you will always be prepared to invite someone to join us.

National Has a New Website

I am excited to inform you that CDA has a new website! Tom Panas, the executive board, and ECatholic have been hard at work for the last few months designing a whole new look for the CDAwebsite. We are extremely grateful to the innovators especially Shirley and Daniel Seyfried, whodesigned our first website. It served us well for many years, and we are grateful to them forbringing us into the 21st century. Now, as with all things, it was time for an update. I hope youwill check it out. We were going to do a "soft" launch in order to make sure we could work outany "bugs." However, more people than we thought are finding the new website, so I thought I'dlet everyone know. The new Tools of the Trade will be added to the new website shortly. Whatis on now are the current Tools, and they are still in effect. Our address is the samewww.catholicdaughters.org. Check it out, and let us know what you think. If you have anysuggestions, we would be glad to hear them. Thank you Tom and the Executive Board for all yourhard work!! Olga Samaniego, National Regent

Tribute to Fathers' Day

Happy Father’s DayDads turn out all right … in time

Dads go through man stages in the eyes of their children:

Age 4: “My Daddy can do anything.”

Age 7: “My Dad knows a lot, a whole lot.”

Age 12: “Dad doesn’t know quite everything.”

Age 15: “Oh well, naturally Dad doesn’t understand.”

Age 21: “My father? Hopelessly oldfashioned and out of date.”

Age 25: “He has a good idea now and then,”

Age 35: “I must find out what Dad thinks about this.”

Age 50: “I wish I could talk it over with Dad once more.”

God, bless all the fathers in the world. Guide them to be good role models andloving to all their children. Help them to be a father like You are. Give themgrace and patience to handle situations in a loving way. Amen.
