PRINCIPAL’S NEWS PRESENTAITON EVENING One of the most important events of the school calendar occurs next Thursday, 13th December at 7pm at the Wentworth Tennis Club. This is our presentation evening, where we come together to share and celebrate the achievements of our students throughout the year. We expect all students to attend. All of our Kindergarten students receive a presentation and many students from each class receive special acknowledgement for achievement and improvement in their school work and citizenship. We also announce our 2019 school leaders and the P&C acknowledge the efforts of families who will be leaving the school community at the end of this year. This year, we will be joined by our local state Member of Parliament, Mr Austin Evans, and our Director, Educational Leadership, Mr Peter Macbeth. They will join with other invited guests in assisting in the presentation of awards. To ensure all children are in school uniform on the night, they are able to wear casual dress to school on the Thursday. All students need to be at the Tennis Club by 6:45pm. Please join us for this special occasion. PROGRESS REPORTS AND SCHOOL MAGAZINES Student reports will be distributed on Monday, 17th December. Each family will receive a copy of our school magazine as well. We hope you enjoy this special record of our school year and I thank the P&C for their support in making this happen. INFLATABLE WORLD ACKNOWLEDGEMENT EXCURSION The whole school have been given the opportunity to participate in an Acknowledgment Excursion to be held at Inflatable World Mildura. The event will take place on Monday 10th December 2018. The cost of the excursion is $5. If you have any difficulty in paying this, please let the school know, as we do not want any children missing out. You should have received a permission note regarding this event. Cath Eddie Principal

K/1 Hello Everyone, We have begun writing letters in preparation for writing that all important letter to Santa. Students have their own mailbox in the classroom and enjoy writing and receiving letters from each other. On Thursday 13th December, K/1 and 1/2 will enjoy another Kitchen and Garden session. We are in need of helpers for the Kitchen starting from at 9.30am. If you are free we would love some help and for you to stay and enjoy our shared lunch. Have a great week. Leanne Byrnes YEAR 1/2 As we draw this term to a close, we will be having our final Kitchen Garden session for the year. On Thursday 13th at 9:30-11:50am we will be in the garden to begin with, before we go to the Kitchen to cook up a storm. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if you can attend. This week we have written a letter to Santa. These letters need to be signed and returned to school ASAP. Also, school library books, readers or class library books home, need to be returned next week. Over the next 2 weeks we will be working collaboratively with Year 3 and 4 to solve STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematical) challenges. For these challenges we need donations of old Christmas decorations (ornaments, tinsel etc) and craft items (bells, sequins, glitter etc). Don’t forget your note for the excursion to Inflatable World on Monday 10th Decemeber. Keep smiling, Yvette Pomroy YEAR 3/4 A note has gone home this week about a class Kris Kringle that we are doing. Everyone has randomly selected a student in the class to buy or make a gift for. I have asked that the value of the gift be no more than $10. Each student who participates in the Kris Kringle will receive a gift. I ask that the gifts be placed under the class Christmas tree with the recipient’s name on the wrapping by the 14th of December. This way I can ensure that no one misses out. If you have any questions about the gift exchange, please see me. As part of our Christmas activities, we have been participating in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) challenges with the 1/2 class. This has been a great opportunity for our classes to problem solve, think laterally and be creative in the last weeks of the year. Cheers Mr Gray

YEAR 4/5 Firstly I would like to thank everyone who has been able to assist the class at some stage throughout the year. It was and is very much appreciated. Well done to the students for coming together day in, day out and supporting one another. Only one and a half weeks to go before our long break. The Year 5’s are very excited about the announcement of the 2019 school leaders at our special Presentation Evening which is being held at the Wentworth Tennis and Bowling Club Rooms commencing at 6:45pm on Thursday 13th December. The class is buzzing with the thought of our Kris Kringle (Secret Santa). Participating students now have their secret name and gifts are beginning to be sent into school already. It’s important that all gifts are under the classes Christmas tree by no later than next Wednesday morning (12th December), ready for the students to be able to open their gifts. A reminder of the guidelines:

• The gift can be either handmade or purchased to the value of $10 and no more. • The name of the recipient is to be clearly labelled on the wrapped gift. • No one is to mention who they have.

Reminders: • If your child/children have any school library books, readers or class library books home, could these please be sent in next week? • Updated diaries due next Friday – last collection for the year. • Fruit donations for daily Crunch & Sip. • Inflatable World Excursion – next Monday 10th December.

Wishing everyone a safe holiday period, Sandra Marziano YEAR 5/6 Welcome to our final Year 6 newsletter item for 2018. We have had a solid year of experiences, learning and fun.
