“My aspiration is to have my own radio program at 3FM”
Find out who is manager of the week!
Christmas Market 11th December at
HESTIA
My name is Eric Kuizenga, I am a third year MEM student. I’m honoured to have
been elected: Manager of the week. As for my ambitions , I am trying to become an event manager in the field of theatre and theatre events.
I am currently working at a company called ‘Our cup of Tea’, which is a theatre happen-ing company specialised in providing theatre boosts to other companies by offering theatre as promotion, we also organise 5 course dinners with an evening of entertainment on a ship. The other occupation i’m really passionate
about is Artbasement. This is a art festival in multiple cities in The Netherlands. I work on the annual edition in Groningen which is the closing event of the Lets Gro festival.
When I am done with Stenden I hope to work in the cultural sector of Groningen to give that city the cultural position it deserves within my country.
Love, Eric

Who are you?
I’m Gijs Hakkert, eighteen years old and I’m in the first
year of Media & Entertainment Management, and
working in the learning company this module.
How did it all start?
For the sector print, our whole group needed to make a
new, not existing magazine as an individual assignment.
I’m a big fan of the Dutch radio station ‘3FM’, with in
particular the radio DJ ‘Gerard Ekdom’ and his radio
program ‘Effe Ekdom’. That’s why I made an magazine
about him and his radio program.
What happened next?
After I made my magazine, I put it with a picture on
twitter and mentioned Gerard Ekdom himself. He
retweeted my tweet, commended ‘VET!’ and I got
many reactions from 3FM listeners where they can buy
or download the magazine!
What is in your opinion unique about the
magazine?
The radio program that Gerard Ekdom is making is on
the radio between 12 and 2 in the afternoon, also called
‘the lunch-show’. Most of the listeners are lunching
during the broadcast, and that’s why Gerard Ekdom is
combining two specific things in his show: music and
Interview with Gijs food. The magazine does the same: it combines the interests of the
3FM listener: good music and good food, and I’ve added some gad-
getnews in the magazine, because the target group of 3FM is having a
higher salary than the average in the Netherlands.
Why did it become popular?
I think because 3FM and in particular Gerard Ekdom has a lot of fans,
and they are all loving everything about 3FM, also when it isn’t radio
related. This magazine is 3FM and ‘Effe Ekdom’ related, and that’s
why many listeners want to have it.
Where do you see yourself in the Future?
I’ve always said my ‘end target’ is an own radio program at 3FM, but
when I’m honest, the sector AV is getting more and more interesting,
so who knows!
