RECORDER PERFORMANCE

The legendary recorder students will be performing

for you next Wednesday, 27th March in the

Multipurpose room at 2.55pm.

SCHOOL COMMUNITY ART PROJECT

Please get involved in a Community Arts Project!

We have been invited to decorate a bike with threads

and textiles to be displayed in Warragul as part of

the Gippsland Arts Festival in May.

If you have any pieces of knitting, weaving or

sewing which you could spare to decorate our bike,

they would be appreciated. If you come across

knitted socks, gloves, scarves or other suitable items

in the Op Shop they would be great. Perhaps you

could spend some time during the holidays making

pom poms, tassels, rope or finger knitting.

Drouin West School Fair- Congratulations to all

those involved!

The Fair was by all accounts, an amazing success on

Sunday. This is not a surprise given a year of planning

and the many voluntary hours from an amazing team of

parents at Drouin West. My heartfelt thanks to those

who contributed in any way to making this event a

success.

I was so very proud of everyone’s efforts leading up to

and during this major school event. The positive culture

of our school reflected in our 4 B’s continues to be

positive and is reflected in the comments and feedback

from the hundreds of visitors to our school during the

fair.

It is important for those who were involved in the

organisation to reflect on how things transpired so we

can celebrate the successes and refine the things that

could be improved should there be any future events.

All those involved, who are able to attend a debriefing

meeting, are invited to come to the Multi Purpose

Room on Friday April 19 at 9.00am for morning tea.

Active After School Communities

Students who have been involved in the

Martial Arts sessions each Tuesday are

reminded that the final session

(Tuesday March 26) will be held in

Warragul from 4.30-5.30pm at Factory

4, 133 North Road. (This is near Chilli

Cycles) Parents will be responsible for

arranging their own transport to the venue.

Plans for term two have been finalised and parents are

welcome to contact the office to have their child

participate. All new students participating in AASC

programs need to be registered. Registration forms are

available from Ann in the office.

Students are provided with a healthy snack and are

asked to bring along a drink bottle each week. End of term 1 arrangements next week Thursday 28th March is the last day of Term 1. Assembly will start at 2.15pm Students will be dismissed at 2.30 pm.

Science News Next week in science all grades will have the opportunity

to build something using the various items in the science

room.

It would be fantastic if all children could bring two or

three items from home which they could use for this activ-

ity.

Some suggestions for items which would be useful are

cardboard boxes (any size), polystyrene, bottle tops (any

size, plastic and metal), egg cartons, corks, bubble wrap

and cardboard tubes (not toilet rolls).

Grade 4 upwards could bring scraps of timber. We have

hammers and nails for the children to use.

Thank you to all the families who have been sending

items along this term. Please keep sending these as they

are greatly appreciated.

Income and invoices are

still being processed.

Please watch this notice

for the final profit from

the Fair. Estimated to be

between $5,000 and

$6,000

It turned over a new leaf.

Wanted Dear Parents / Guardians,

We are desperately in need of art smocks. If you have old shirts or old tops that you no

longer need, please donate them to the art room.

As we are turning the tops into art smocks, please

ensure there are no holes and that the tops are

clean. Please deliver them to Mrs Cope or leave them at

the office.

Thank you,

Mrs Cope

Chaplain’s News

Hi everyone! Thank-you to all of the amazing school community who helped out at the Fair on Sunday. To the very hard working

fete committee, the sponsors, the people who helped advertise, cook, collect tickets, donate goods and to those who

brought family and friends along, thank-you. We were blessed with great weather. It always takes hours of work to run

an event like this and that old saying of many hands make light work really did apply. It was a lovely day.

I hope you enjoy this poignant little story and funny quote which I found on the website, “energize especially for

leaders of volunteers” which really does celebrate our wonderful

volunteers.

One day an elephant saw a hummingbird lying on its back with its

tiny feet up in the air.

"What are you doing?" asked the elephant. The hummingbird replied,

"I heard that the sky might fall today, and so I am ready to help hold

it up, should it fall."

The elephant laughed cruelly. "Do you really

think, that those tiny feet could help hold up the

sky?"

The hummingbird kept his feet up in the air, intent

on his purpose, as he replied, "Not alone. But each

must do what he can. And this is what I can do."

--Chinese Parable

Here is a very funny quote...

“Noah's Ark was built by volunteers; the Titanic was built by professionals.” Submitted on 8 September 2004 by Dave Gynn, Coleman Professional Services, Ohio.

Take Care everyone!
