Merry Christmas! Matthew White
Christmas is almost upon us and with that, we have been busy with lots of events! On 5th November 2015, we
decorated the youth centre with our Christmas decorations, to get into the festive season (pictures below).
On Friday 11th December, after our AGM, members of the Management Committee had a Christmas meal with our
young people. We all sat round our table and some food, pulled crackers and every young person was given a gift
from the Youth Project. Many thanks to Mia and Georgie for your efforts in the Kitchen!
Next Friday will see us venture out to St Austell, where we head to the Eden Project, continuing an annual tradition to
go Ice Skating! We are leaving Launceston College 4.30 and will arrive back by 9.30pm. The deadline to book onto
this trip has now surpassed. Please remember that the youth centre will be closed on Friday.

Art Attack! Over the past few months, we have been spending a lot of time in the Art Room. Some of our young people have
been spending their time; researching, designing and creating masks. Richard, spent a lot of time creating his mask,
testing techniques and experimenting with different materials to create a truly original mask.
Harry and Merryn have also been busy researching and creating their version of a Banksy piece. It is currently in the
‘preparation’ stage as they worked hard to prepare the piece for spray painting. Matthew White
Building leaders At Launceston Youth Project, we aim to inspire all young people to dream big and achieve their goals. But, we also
take the time to help each young people become active and responsible citizens. Last month, we begun a new
initiative the ‘building leaders programme’. This programme selects some of young people to become ‘Mentors’ in
our youth project.
They spend their time welcoming new members and helping them to settle in. They act as role models to other young
people and provide them with a voice. Over the course of their time with us, they will begin to develop the ability to
lead team activities and be active citizens.
As each young person takes on their mentor role, they become ‘mini volunteers’ with us, and for that, we register
them with Vinspired.com (a national volunteering programme). This allows them to log their hours and gain
certificates as recognition for their hard work and dedication.
Our current Mentors are: Nicole, Katie, Harry and Aaron.

Congratulations! The Leadership Team and Management Committee would like to congratulate Kenzie for achieving his Bronze
Certificate on the Youth Achievement Awards! Well done!
Have a wonderful Christmas and a great New Year
from everyone at Launceston Youth Project!
