One of the key priorities of the newly appointed president is supporting applied

scientific research that leads to commercial outcomes which benefit the research-

ers, the university and the community at large. Knowing the university capacities ,

his vision towards a world class university to be in the top 500 international uni-

versities by the year 2012 is achievable. Prof. Malkawi believes that commerciali-

zation of the research products should be one of the strategic goals of JUST. Thus,

a technology transfer office has been established at JUST to promote technology

transfer and registering of patents. Recently, the university initiated establishing

spin-off companies as products from the research activities conducted at JUST.

Prof. Malkawi realizes that these achievements and the progress in the research

field need collaboration and good connections with regional and international bod-

ies working collaboratively for the benefit of all involved parties. Connections with

well-established research funds are on the way to secure external funds to JUST

researchers. Several agreements have been signed between the university, repre-

sented by the Deanship of Research and support funds at national and interna-

tional levels. Strengthening these relations is another strategic goal to JUST. Qual-

ity world class research will have a priority as well as large projects that benefit

the nation and the researchers at the same time. Finally, Prof. Malkawi wishes all

researchers at JUST the best of luck and he promises a full support to all of them.
