What is AIR-Flow jet polishing? AIR-FLOW treatment is a hygienist procedure which uses air and water pressure to deliver a controlled stream of specially processed sodium bicarbonate or glycine powders in a slurry through the hand piece nozzle to remove stain, pellicle and biofilm from tooth surfaces . How does the AIR-Flow treatment work? Fine particles of powders are propelled by compressed air in a warm spray and directed onto the surfaces of the teeth. This pressurized jet of air, water and powder removes surface stains, plaque and other soft deposits such as food particles trapped in very hard places to clean, especially in between the teeth, leaving you feeling refreshed. AIR-Flow treatment is seen as the next level of cleaning over a usual scale and polish, and has been proven to really tackle those stubborn stains. What are the advantages of AIR-Flow treatment? Removes dental plaque and hence helps preventing periodontal diseases such as gingivitis or periodontitis Removes teeth stains and disinfect mouth Helps maintain implants Cleans prior to whitening treatment and used for whitening maintenance Cleans prior to bonding orthodontic brackets and used for maintenance during treatment. Effective infant oral care When should I take my child to the dentist? It is recommended that children should go to the dentist with their parents as soon as possible. This will let them get used to the noises, smells and surroundings and prepare them for future visits. The earlier these visits start, the more relaxed the children will be.

How should I clean my child’s teeth?Cleaning your child’s teeth should be part of their daily hygiene routine.

•When the fi rst teeth start to appear, try using a toothbrush designed for children, with a small smear of fl uoride toothpaste.

•It is important to supervise your child’s brushing until they are at least seven.

•Once all the teeth have appeared, use a toothbrush with a small head and soft bristles in small, circular movements and try to concentrate on one section at a time.

•Don’t forget to brush gently behind the teeth and onto the gums.

•If possible, make brushing a routine - just before your child goes to bed and at least one other time during the day.

•Remember to encourage your child, as praise will often get results!

How can I prevent tooth decay in my child? The main cause of tooth decay is not the amount of sugar or acid in the diet, but the frequency of eating or drinking them. The more often the child has sugary or acidic foods or drinks, the more likely they are to have decay. It is important to have sugary and acidic foods just at mealtimes. If you want to give your child a snack, try to stick to cheese, vegetables and a limited portion of fruit. Try to limit the amount of dried fruit you give them as it is high in sugar. Don’t give them drinks containing sugars, including fruit juices, between meals. Give them water or milk instead. For babies, don’t add sugar to their drinks, or to foods when you introduce them to solids.

Bottle Opener Tooth ImplantHockey and rugby players are known for their uncanny ability to knock out their teeth. Salta Beer, an Argentinian beer company noticed and decided to turn it into a promotional opportunity. They created a dental implant that is shaped like a bottle opener, and with the help of a local dentist, offered it to athletes who had lost a tooth.

Festival of the Sacred Tooth Each year in Sri Lanka, they hold a celebration to honour Buddha’s tooth. The tooth itself is housed inside the Temple of the Sacred Tooth (Sri Dalada Maligawa) in Kandy. It is tucked inside seven golden caskets that are shaped like stupas and adorned in gemstones. The resident monks perform daily rituals, and wash the tooth in scented water and fl owers each Wednesday.

Brace yourself! In Asian countries like Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia, braces are considered super cool. In cities like Bangkok braces can run up to $1,200, which is too expensive for most Thai kids. However, like everything else owned by the rich and powerful, braces suddenly have an air of wealth and status about them. That’s where fashion braces, or kawat gigi untuk gaya, come in. Running about $100, these braces are sold in markets, beauty salons, and online, and can be customized in all sorts of styles like Mickey Mouse and Hello Kitty.
