ECHOSEC The Pro version of Echosec has recently changed its look and introduced more functionality. The new GUI is easier to operate and provides geolocation returns for Twitter, YouTube, FourSquare, Sina Weibo, VKontakte (VK), Instagram, Reddit, Flickr, Ships & Periscope. The link to the free version has been replaced with a sign up for a Free Account. The free version provides access to Flickr geolocation; however, if you click on the links for Echosec from our uk-osint.net website (on the Twitter & Photos pages), you will go to https://app.echosec.net/ and if you Login with your Twitter account, then you will get Twitter & Flickr. Here is a video explanation

Facebook Account ID Numbers

As you will remember from the training courses, to get the most out of Facebook and using the search boxes on the Facebook page of our uk-osint.net website, once you have located a Facebook account, you should obtain the Facebook Account ID Number. There are a number of useful links on our Facebook page of our website, where you can post the URL from someone’s Facebook Timeline, which will turn this into a Facebook Account ID Number. Now there is a quick & easy way to determine the Facebook Account ID Number of any Facebook account you are viewing. The Favorites or Bookmarks feature was developed by Michael Bazzell (@IntelTechniques). It allows you to create a link to your Favorites or Bookmarks Bar. Just right click on the FB Account ID, then select on "Add To Favorites" in Internet Explorer or "Bookmark This Link" in Firefox. In any browser, you can left click on the FB Account ID link and then drag to your Favorites bar. This will give you the Facebook Account ID Number of any Facebook account you are

viewing.

Qwarie Training Developments: Specialised Courses & Modules

Qwarie continues to develop the range and content of its training courses, whilst remaining true to our core of, “everything OSINT”. The content of our OSINT, Internet Investigation and Social Media Research courses has been updated. Significantly, we have created new OSINT research courses specialising in Brand Protection, Trading Standards, Financial & Legal Services, Human Resources, Public Services and Insurance Fraud. All the components of our Advanced Course have been separated into Modules (https://www.qwarie.com/training-modules) and we have added a few more, as both OSINT and Qwarie responds to a deeper and wider research environment. Where a client might not want a standard course, simply select modules from the list, or ask us for assistance in the selection process and tailor the precise course you require.

Qwarie Dark Web Training

We are excited to announce that we are going to run a series of 1 day Dark Web training sessions. These will provide the opportunity to go in to the Dark Web and explore it, distinguishing between the junk and the juice, in a safe & secure environment, on our computers. If you have read the hype about the Dark Web, or heard talks about it, but now you want to get real, and experience it for yourself, then email us at [email protected] and we will come back to you with dates & locations.

Qwarie – Carrying Out Your Instructions At Qwarie, we have a team of in-house researchers. We perform a wide range of OSINT enquiries for our clients. Predominantly, our clients are based in the EU. Sometimes, they ask us about jurisdictions and licensing matter. In the UK, the Security Industry Authority (https://www.sia.homeoffice.gov.uk/) licenses and oversees the Security Industry. The Private Security Industry Act 2001 provides the SIA with authority over Private Investigators, but the legislating does not require that PIs are licensed and there are no plans on the horizon to introduce licences. In addition, the SIA has informed Qwarie that because we perform research using information in the public domain (OSINT), there would never be any licensing requirement as our work falls outside of the scope and remit of the SIA. In Ireland, the Private Security Authority (https://www.psa.gov.ie/) licenses and oversees Private Investigators. The PSA has confirmed to Qwarie that our services do not require an investigator license as, "those whose activities relate only to accessing publicly available information" do not require a license. You can rely on Qwarie reports to provide safe and compliant evidential reports. Internally, we are conducting a detailed GDPR implementation, in preparation for May 2018. More on that in a later newsletter.

The UK Insolvency Service Database The Insolvency Service in the UK runs a useful free searchable database at https://www.insolvencydirect.bis.gov.uk/eiir/. This is listed on the Favorites page of our uk-osint.net website, under the Credit Reference Agencies / Information heading). The database is named the Individual Insolvency Register (IIR). It is an amalgamation of three registers. The individual insolvency, bankruptcy restrictions and debt relief restrictions registers. It is maintained by the Insolvency Service, which is required by statute, to maintain the registers, keeping them up to date and making them available for public inspection. The type of information shown includes the subject’s name (including any other known names), their occupation and trading details, their date of birth, their last known address, their gender and the details & relevant dates of the insolvency. The following is an example picked at random.

This is a really useful free database,

with no data protection or footprint concerns.
