We had the area reservedfrom 10 am to 2 pm but noone else had made areservation for this park areaso we were in no rush to leave.Ken Brownell, TommyDorsey, Phil Page, AliciaMendoza, Sharon Breaux,Ray Oviatt and several otherswere busy at the bbq pitsgrilling hamburgers, hot dogs, steaks, turkey legs andchicken. Along with thateveryone brought somethingas a side order.

    J. J. Johnson madehis famous RCPTCCC

oatmeal cookies and passedthem out to everyone. Thesecookies are in a class bythemselves - they aredelicious. There were twogames we brought along forthe event. A bean bag toss anda game called golf where the

player tosses two balls thatare attached to each other bya string. The string if thrownaccurately wraps around athree tier stand and the playerwins if he gets the most points. So needless to say we did have5 winners and they allreceived a prize. The prizesthat were won were broughtfor the games by several ofthe club members.

As the day at thepark came to a close some ofthe club members talkedabout another picnic. This issomething good to hearbecause it gives us all a greatsatisfied feeling ofaccomplishment and theenergy to make arrangementsfor another picnic. AWESOME!

    NEWSLETTER - ISSUE # 33

    INLAND EMPIRE - SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

CRUISIN CLUB PICNICOn this day the membership cametogether and spent the day at thepark. During the course of theyear Rancho Cruisin Club makes

a courtesy call to remind themembership about the upcomingevent or cruise and sometimeswell actually most of the time wedo not know which members willshow up. This is okay because themembership knows that they can

pick and choose from the clubscruise event schedule.I began preparing for

the picnic early on in the year byreserving the park site withRancho Cucamonga City on April1 2009 and along with the site wasincluded a baseball diamond forus to use. Having cruises going onthroughout the year makes themonths seem like weeks going by.I have to keep tabs on the

calendar and dates for our nextcruise or event because time suredoes fly when you least expect it.

But on this day eventhough the weather man said itwould be pretty hot most of theday, we manage to stay coolbecause of the location we had. This park has two shelters andwith each shelter comes threeoversize picnic cement tableswhich we used to the max., andalso 2 more tables next to theshelter which we covered with twoEZ-Ups for shade. A stand alonebarbeque pit is located next toeach individual table at this parkwhich makes it very easy toprepare the food. I arrived atabout 9:30 am and themembership began dropping inabout 10 am which was the timethat was set for the event.CONT. ->

BRONCO BILLYThe film revolves around "Bronco Billy's Wild West Show", a run-down traveling

circus, the star of which is Bronco Billy McCoy (Clint Eastwood), the "fastest gun

in the West." For the show's finale, a blindfolded Bronco Billy shoots balloons

around a female assistant on a revolving wooden disk, and for the last balloon, he

throws a knife. However, the assistant's leg is nicked, so she quits. The show is

not making any money, and nobody has been paid for months.

The show moves on to a new town and Bronco Billy goes to city hall to get a

permit. While there, he bumps into Antoinette Lilly (Sondra Locke) and JohnArlington (Geoffrey Lewis), who are there to be married. Antoinette despises her

future husband, but has to marry before she is thirty in order to inherit a large

fortune. Afterwards, their car breaks down at the motel opposite the Wild West

Show. The next morning, Arlington steals all her money and their repaired car.

She is left to fend for herself.

Bronco Billy eventually talks Antoinette into becoming his new assistant, "Miss

Lilly", though she only agrees to do one show. The show of her first performance

is unusually successful, although Miss Lilly irritates Billy by not sticking to the

    script.

Leaving the show, Antoinette discovers that Arlington has been arrested for her

murder (framed by Antoinette's stepmother and her scheming lawyer friend, who

stand to gain her inheritance). Seizing the chance to get even with Arlington,

Antoinette rejoins the Wild West Show.

She discovers that none of the performers are real cowboys: they are mostly ex-

convicts or alcoholics (or both). Bronco Billy was a shoe salesman who shot his

wife for sleeping with his best friend. Nevertheless, Miss Lilly begins to warm to

    the troupe.

Two of the show's performers announce that they are going to have a baby. The

crew goes to a bar to celebrate. One of them gets himself arrested by police who

discover that he is a deserter from the army. Bronco Billy uses the show's meager

savings to bribe the sheriff into letting the man go, swallowing his pride and

enduring the sheriff's verbal humiliations for his friend's sake. Then the circus tent

burns down. Everyone blames Miss Lilly for their bad luck, but Bronco Billy

defends her and proposes that they rob a train. They try to do this in the standard

Western way (riding alongside and jumping on), but a modern train proves to be

resistant to such an approach and they give up.

Next, the troupe travels to a mental institution at which they have previously

performedpro bono. The head of the institution, who is obsessed with the Wild

West, agrees to provide them with accommodation and to supply a new tent, andthe inmates sew one out of American flags. Miss Lilly and Bronco Billy spend the

night together. By chance, one of the inmates turns out to be Arlington (he had

been paid by the crooked lawyer to confess to being mentally disturbed when he

"murdered" Antoinette). When he sees her, he raises a fuss and gets himself

released. Bronco Billy and the show depart without Miss Lilly. Antoinette returns

to a luxurious lifestyle, but she is bored and misses Billy, who drowns his

loneliness with alcohol. The two reunite when MissLilly returns to the circus.

Sunday July 12 2009March Field Air Museum Cruise

We have been to this location before in the past andeach time including this one visit has been great, otherthan the hot weather this is a place to cruise to andenjoy with many friends who love aircrafts. We met atKrispy Kremes for this cruise, and even though we allgot there on time, I just knew that the traffic was goingto be code congested on the 10 freeway. Well wearrived there safe and sound and parked all of thecruisers together. We always park together butsometimes its easier for anyone who is Handicapped topark closest to the front entranced.

Even so, the main entrance is kind of far away andwe had no choice but to walk. The March Air BaseMuseum is located off of Van Buren and across the 215freeway from the Riverside National Cemetery. The daywas exceptionally hot and upon entering the buildingwe made it a point to stay a little while indoors andexplore the building with all of its historical mementosand traditional artifacts. March Air Museum is wellequipped to handle or store many airplanes with theirhistory from wars or conflicts this country has beeninvolved in.

A large percentage of our club members are new to

being in a car club so here at Rancho Cruisin Club wetry to give everyone a little variety and encourage themembership to come fly with us to any one of thecruises during the year and same goes for next yearand the year after that and the gratification continuesas long as we strive to be creative on whatever we do.

As always any club would be happy having a lot ofcruisers show up for an event or a scheduled cruise, buthere not only are we pleased regarding that, we alsohave a chance to meet up with different members eachtime.

The schedule for next year 2010 is being formed andthere are many places to cruise and not just the sameones that we have gone to this year. The particulars onthe cruise places, events, occasions and location, time, and what to bring along for the day will be on the clubs

web site along with courtesy reminders before each andevery cruise that we will go on.

RCPTCCC membership decides on what cruises theywant to go to, and it does appear that nearly everyoneof the club members who are going are showing upeach and every time we have a cruise, which is good!Because it makes the sensation of having a car club andbelonging to this car club all worth the endeavor we allput forth every month. Until then take care and besafe.

OUR NEXT CRUISE WILL BE ON SUNDAY AUGUST 9TO THE L. A. COUNTY ARBORETUM

Saturday July 04 2009Annual 4th of July Country Village Parade Cruise

For this parade we decorated our PT Cruisers withpatriotic streamers and joined other car clubs as well asmany happy and cheering Independence Day revelerscelebrating the Fourth of July celebration holiday. Thisparade was something that was thought of several yearsago by the residents at this Country Village complex. Theparade entries follow the route in and around the entirecomplex. It takes about 30 to 40 minutes to completethe parade course.

The excitement grew as the parade began with manydiverse entries of an assortment of groups who signed upto be in this parade. I was amazed at how many peopleturned out for this small township parade, and all werevery sociable. I have never been to a parade such as thisone and have so many people smile, wave, salute, andsay hello to the participants in any parade I have beento. From the very beginning as we arrived we noticedthat there were many people from all age groupsinvolved with the festivities. When our cruisin clubsigns up to be in a parade we kind of have the feelingabout the parade whether we will enjoy or find itunsatisfactory.

This annual parade these folks put out is something of

a great celebration where everyone gets involved. Afterthe parade we parked our Cruisers by the restaurant andstayed and talked for some time. The managementwanted our club to have a full blown out car show but Ifound it too late in time to be able to get everythingorganized to have a first-rate car show. Also, after the

parade finished we headed out to the grassy area of thetown complex which is like a large park like setting andvisited many of the vendors and enjoyed the festivities. At one site there was a group of people cooking on a verylarge grill and passing out as many hot dogs and wateror a drink that anyone wanted for free.

We did stay about 3 hours and then left for homewhich I didnt have to cruise to far because of the closeproximity to my home. Thank you for those that cameout and joined us on this cruise.

THANKS TO ALL OF THE RCPTCCCMEMBERSHIP THAT CAMETO THIS GREAT FAMILY EVENT AND SPENTTHE DAY HERE AT THIS FUN COMPLEX Page Three
