The New Beginnings Net-work Event was a one-day event, which took place on 17th October 2007 at The City of Manchester Sta-dium. The main presenter for the event was Profes-sor Bob Garvey who was awarded a Chair in Mentor-ing and Coaching at Shef-field Hallam University (SHU) for an outstanding national and international contribution to the further-ance of knowledge in the field. The day consisted of a mentoring master class, which gave delegates an excellent opportunity to feedback on future men-toring developments and network with other men-tors and mentees. Profes-sor Garvey’s mentoring master class received fantastic feedback from everyone who attended and the day was a huge

success and enjoyed by all. The next learning event will be taking place on Wednesday 23rd January 2008 at the Red Rose Hub Conference Centre in Preston and the theme of the day will be Devel-opments in Mentoring.

Seasons greetings to everyone

Welcome to the North West Mentoring Scheme December Newsletter. The aim of this newsletter is to inform all members of the scheme on the develop-ments and updates that have been taking place within mentoring.

It has been a busy 3 months at the North West Mentoring office. The scheme is now being hosted at Bolton, Sal-ford and Trafford Mental Health Trust after they won the bid when it was put out to tender. A new team has also been appointed: - Becci Martin - Project Man-ager Advita Patel - Scheme Support Officer Emma Porter - Scheme Administrator

We would like to take this op-portunity and thank everyone for their continued support through this transition period we look forward in seeing you all in 2008.

We are currently in the process of planning further men-tor training days around the North West region. There will also be an opportunity for current mentors to attend refresher days which will also be held around the differ-ent regions of the North West.
