Thank you all for your support at the MacMillan Coffee

Morning on Friday 2nd October. The children were fan-

tastically behaved and really enjoyed sharing their new

school with all of the parents. A special thank you to all

that donated cakes and to all the secondary phase stu-

dents who sold our treats.

We raised an amazing £257 this year which will be

matched by a generous company to take our total to

£514! Well done every one at TGS for supporting Mac-

Millan Cancer Support.

Head of School Update DATES FOR THE DIARY

You may have heard from national news items that the pro-

posed National Schools Funding Formula, due to be introduced

in 2018, is a reassessed fairer way of funding schools. West

Sussex has been one of the lowest funded county authorities

and while the new funding formula will help address this differ-

ence, many Heads believe the additional staffing cost will

counteract many of the benefits.

The Crawley Headteacher’s are meeting with Henry Smith MP

to discuss the financial implications to schools from the fund-

ing formula. I will report back any significant discussion points.

The 5-O St Catherine’s charity disco we held with the Friends of the Gatwick School last week was a huge success. Around 35 students enjoyed their favourite pizza with unlimited drinks and danced the evening away to the playlist produced by our very own resident DJ, Tobi in year 9. What better way to end the evening, than, a little bit of Karaoke! Huge thanks to FOGS and the 5-0 team for their hard work and of course to Miss Gradziel and Mr Whiffin for supervising the evening. Thanks once again to Mr Shah.

Last Friday Primary classes had a special drama lesson with West End in

Schools. The drama and dance teacher taught the children about expression and retelling story through

movement and facial expressions. Reception told Tiddler and KS1 were dancing through the Lorax.

St Patrick’s Day in Year One

On Friday 17th March Year one took part in exciting activities to celebrate St Patrick’s Day. They were looking for gold to create sentences and made

rainbows with pots of gold and shamrocks for good luck!

On Monday, Foxes class shared their 4x tables song with us in Music assembly. They all knew their tables and sang well in time with each other! A real

class achievement. Songs are a great way to learn times tables, KS1 use times tables songs to practice.
