Hello family and friends
The end of Term 1 is here! It has been a
wonderful start to the 2017 year, with all our
new students settling into HRCS life. All
students have made some outstanding progress
this semester and I look forward to seeing
that continued development in Term 2!
Easter Celebrations:
It was wonderful to host our annual Easter
Celebrations on Tuesday. Our Primary students
all looked amazing parading in their decorated
hats and chairs. Congratulations to all the very
crafty mums, dads, carers and friends who did
such a wonderful job!
The Art Competition was a bright and colourful
display and it was extremely difficult to award
the prizes. Well done everyone!
Thank you to all of the parents, grandparents
and friends who came along to join in the
festivities. It is always wonderful to share
these special occasions with members of our
school community.
The Easter Raffle was once again hugely
successful and as a result of everyone’s
generosity, 18 beautiful hampers were the
prizes. Congratulations to all those lucky
winners! Thank you for your continued support
of our P&C programs!
Gorilla Pit:
Last Saturday, April 1, the Gorilla Pit Gym in
Newcastle held a charity boot camp on behalf of
HRCS. Incredibly, over $1000 was raised as
participants made their way through a variety of
gruelling challenges. I would like to sincerely
thank Corey and the Gorilla Pit team for their
continued support of our school, and extend my
gratitude to Michael Peate for coordinating the
event. Well done everyone!
Star Struck tickets:
The magic of Star Struck is nearly here! Tickets
went on sale on April 6 and can be purchased
through Ticketek. Last year’s performances
were outstanding and I hope you can join us for
the 25th Anniversary extravaganza!
Immunisations:
Hunter Health will be on site on Monday May 1
for the next round of vaccinations. Year 11 & 12
students will also be eligible for the
meningococcal injection at this time. Letters and
permission cards for the new immunisation
schedule have been sent home to those
identified students. It would be appreciated if
all cards were returned to school by April 28. If
you have any queries, please do not hesitate to
contact the school.
Anzac Day Ceremony:
Our 2017 Anzac Day Ceremony will be held on
Friday April 28. Parents and friends are invited
2
to come along to our whole school assembly and
participate in the activities. If you would like
for your child to lay a “family” wreath during the
assembly, please do not hesitate to send one in
on the day.
Guessing Competition:
The lolly guessing competition was extremely
well supported! Staff, students, families and
friends all enjoyed estimating how many little
lollies had been placed in the jar.
Congratulations to Sharon from the Singleton
Run who was the closest guess at 310: there
were 311 in the jar. Well done!
Autism Awareness Day
Thank you everyone for supporting Autism
Awareness day last Friday the 31st of March.
With your help we raised $146.15 to support
this worthy cause.
Entertainment Books:
The 2017/18 Entertainment Books are on sale!
These books are always wonderful value and can
be used in hundreds of venues around the local
area. If you would like to purchase a book,
please contact Barry in the front office! Thank
you for your continued support!
Holidays:
Term 2 will commence for staff on Monday April
24th and for students on Wednesday 26th April.
I hope that everyone has a safe and enjoyable
Easter and break.
Thank you for your support of our programs and
students during Term 1
Kind Regards
Tracey
