There were six staff members from GHLS that were able to go to Colorado for the Annual Green

House Conference. Standing left to right are: Michelle, Finance and QA Mgr., Lynnea, Guide,

Skye, Terri and LaShena, Shahbazim, and Andrea, RN. They stayed at the beautiful Omni

Interlocken Resort in Broomfield for a 3 day event of learning more about the Green House

model and how to take even better care of our elders. They plan to take what they learned to

continue to implement a real home environment, empower staff, and create an even more

meaningful life for each of our elders. Thank you ladies for taking personal time out of your busy

lives to learn more about how to care for our elders the Green House way!

Dear Friends and Family of Green House Living for Sheridan,

Happy New Year! Winter has finally come, and we’re sure feeling the effects after such a long beautiful fall!

It’s been another busy season of holiday activities for our elders, and they are very happy to share their

experiences. We truly were blessed to have such an outpouring of gift giving to our elders for Christmas. Holy

Name Catholic Church has given gifts for the past three years to all of our elders, and it was so appreciated!

We also had a special donation of gifts from Marilyne Quenneville and Crystal Terry for our ladies.

We’ve also had a lot of changes within our board ending in 2015 due to term limits and resignations. Please

see Les Engelter’s letter below (he was our past board president), as well as the updated board information and

membership on page 6. Jack Tarter is now our new board president, and we are happy that he’s agreed to step

up to the presidency for 2016. His many years of experience in long term care for the State of Wyoming

Veterans will definitely be of help to us as we continue to develop and grow, forging new trails in providing

for our elders.

Sincerely,

Chris Szymanski, Administrator

It is with mixed emotions that I am officially "retiring" from the Green House Living for Sheridan board. But

first I must share with everyone what a wonderful experience service on this board has been from the very

early discussions about the Green House concept to eventual organizational planning, to bringing hosts of

volunteers on board to assist with the project, and to the days when our wonderful donors helped us to realize

our dream. From the groundbreaking to all the exciting accomplishment in opening the first cottage, and,

finally, to experiencing a full complement of 48 elders calling Shirley Cove their new home, it has been a

rewarding experience!

So, is there a good time to step away from the project? Without a doubt, the Green House board remains

committed and excited about future plans that will benefit elders and staff with the overall goal of impacting

elder care in Sheridan and Wyoming.

Sincerely,

Les Engelter, Board President

Les Engelter (above), past president of

the GHLS board, passing the torch on to

the new president, Jack Tarter

(on right) in December.

This year was the year of changes for the GHLS board

of directors. You’ll notice (below) that our officer

lineup and Board members have changed due to

board terms expiring and resignations.

Les Engelter served on the board for the past nine

years and has experienced a multitude of changes

throughout this time. He was one of the original

founders with a vision to create the GHLS

community and has been steadfast in his support.

Jack Tarter has served as Vice President since 2014

and comes to GHLS with over 30 years’ experience as

the Director of the State Veterans home in

Buffalo. Kay Wallick, also a long-time member,

moved from her officer position as Secretary to Vice

President, and Barbara Walter is now the new

Secretary. Past member, Wendy Ostlind, resigned

and Cathy Bealer, Director of Professional Services at

Sheridan Memorial Hospital, was just voted in as a

new member. Whether new to the board or an

original pioneer, the GHLS volunteer board of

directors is committed to providing innovative and

quality elder care here in Sheridan!

Dementia-Friendly Communities

There is something we can do!

We are so happy that this initiative has become a reality in our community, thanks to the support

of the Center for a Vital Community (CVC)! It was a result of our strategic planning goal to create a

community that focuses on person-centered care for those living with dementia and supports those

who care about them through education and advocacy.

Please go to www.sheridancvc.org/dementia-friendly-communities to learn more about

how you can be part of the five initiatives currently in process, or call 674-6446, ext. 4203
