Equilibrium First News letterTRANSCRIPT

The events surrounding Equilibrium have
a lot in Common with Acts 3 where Peter
and John were helping a beggar.
My wife Meagan and I, just returned
from a Five year stay in the UK, where
we served as missionaries under Sport-
ing Marvels in the Rhondda Valley —
South Of Wales. We were based in Be-
thel Baptist Church in Ferndale. My work
sees me assisting the Physical Educa-
tion Department. We run a program,
selecting potential student leaders, who
influence their peers , called the All Star
Leadership Academy.
Apart from that, we made regular visits
to a nearby primary school to support
other workers. The climax of the work
are the youth clubs which I, along with
other missionaries and members of the
church run at Bethel.
The seed that led to Equilibrium‘s birth,
dates back to 2000, whilst on my way to
a prayer meeting. A man in rags begged
me for money. He was in such a poor
state, that his image never left me, even
today. At that stage, it was evident that
whatever help I could provide, would not
aid him much. Yet, my inner voice persis-
tently asked me ‘ What CAN and WILL
you do?‘
In July 2003 I attended a workshop led
by Professional sports coaches; Commu-
nity Development Officers and Pastors.
They collaborated and created a pro-
gram assisting elite sportsmen and
women, in becoming whole, and well
balanced individuals. Rev. Carstens
posed a significant question: ‗How can
WE help elite sports people become
whole and balanced?’ I felt God asking
me ‗How can you help the communi-
ties and the underprivileged be-
come whole and well balanced individu-
als?’ I felt enough was enough! Since
that day, I worked on the vision.......
This Vision is purely motivated by the
love commands. Matt 22v37 –39—
‘ Love the Lord your God with all your
Heart, Soul and Mind and Love your
neighbour like you love yourself‘.
UBUNTHU is a zulu word meaning
“I am because you are “ what I am
today is because of what you invested
in my life. Just think about it, we‘ve
got the power to change people lives
radically. The part that makes me ex-
ited about this vision is that we‘ve got
the greatest opportunity ever, to im-
pact the lives of so many.
In one of my favourite movies
‗Gladiators‘, - the General of the Ro-
man army said to his soldiers before
going in to battle,: ‗WHAT YOU WILL
DO TODAY WILL ECHO INTO
ETERNITY’.
I believe what we are doing everyday
will echo into an eternity and we will
not stand down or give in to the en-
emy in Jesus name!
Let‘s Remodel a Generation for Eter-
nity.

We have our first full time worker!
Deon Pietersen who have commenced in
August, and although the task at hand is
huge, we believe in ‗one person, at a time‘.
Deon is ‗born and bread‘ in Cape Town,
and an outstanding young man who we
believe is perfect for this position. We can-
not wait for him to start!
We are not the only people who are
excited. Listen to what the Educationalist
say:
The return to SA was anything but a slow
and leisurely start. The first few weeks filled
with numerous appointments, assemblies,
and meetings!
Its exciting times we‘re in!
A fantastic door opened at our first partner
school, - The Range Secondary school,
with the first part time worker Benita
Duckitt. The second partner school Good-
wood College came on stream in April
2009, when another volunteer worker
Heather began her post as a counsellor.
As at the moment we have 2 part time
workers in our 2 partner schools.
Just recently 3 schools joined the Equilib-
rium family-one of them is a primary school.
The schools are Vahalla, West High and
Norwood Primary school.
It‘s really amazing how, in such a short
time span, the news of Equilibrium spread
to such an extent, that we are being ap-
proached by schools to partner with us.
How exciting!
So, you ask...’What exactly is all the fuss
about?’
Well, Equilibrium is a need sufficient pro-
ject— We provide physical training (PT)
arts, life skills coaching and counselling to
our schools and communities, which are
obvious and desperate needs.

weeks. After a year the players would have gone through 60 sessions
of leadership and life skills coaching, in addition to soccer coaching.
Ubabalo eAfrica is a 4-year program.
As the world is being treated to a
spectacular festival of soccer in
2010, the dream is to see a conti-
nent celebrating a renaissance of
leadership – 1.3 million dynamic
future leaders.
June 2010, the eyes of millions
of visitors and billions of TV
viewers will be fixed on the
southern tip of Africa. South Af-
rica will host the FIFA Football
World Cup, the first time the
world's premier sporting event
will be held on African soil.
The fever has already begun in
South Africa. Equilibrium aims to
ride on this fever and bring soc-
cer coaching opportunities to
African youth but work with.
One of our objective is to trans-
form African youth through
whole life coaching. Aspiring
young adults will be identified
and trained to coach soccer
skills. Equilibrium in partnership
with Ubabalo eAfrica will incor-
porate life skills into these soc-
cer skills. This is the key to
―paradigm shift‖ soccer coaching
into whole life coaching.
We have a comprehensive cur-
riculum that will facilitate
coaches and players to develop
sound values. The curriculum
will capture every aspect of
one‘s being. We want to present
a holistic coaching experience,
both for the coach and his play-
ers.Ubabalo eAfrica starts now.
