As higher education is rapidly evolving, Graphic Era is at the cutting edge of the movement. We are competing boldly and taking new paths - yet staying grounded to our mission of delivering quality education, building teaching excellence, introducing innovative study programs, customizing and updating our course content to match the industry requirements and setting records in placement, research and consultancy. Amidst all the academic fervour and cultural vibration with the beginning of one more enthusiastic step, I welcome all the readers to the second edition of ABHIVYKTI. It is an effort of the department to make its stakeholders aware of its achievements and activities. The department welcomed new batch of young and enthusiastic students. ABHIVYKTI cherishes those moments of fun and frenzy, love and laughter, interaction and integration along with academic vivacity inform of different activities. Being a medium to acknowledge the efforts of different people at different levels, I express my gratitude to them all. It was a great learning opportunity for faculty members, research scholars and industry experts to get a comprehensive understanding of research methodology and statistical tools. Over 60 participants from various institutions were benefited with the knowledge and experience of experts during the workshop.

Department of Management Studies, Graphic Era Deemed to be University conducted a 3 days Faculty Development Program on Research Methods and Data Analysis (FRMDA,2019) using IBM SPSS from 11-13 July 2019.

While inaugurating the workshop the Chancellor, Graphic Era University, Prof. (Dr.) RC Joshi emphasized upon the need of understanding new dimensions of research. Prov Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr.) HN Nagraja appealed the

Three week induction programme

A three week induction programme was organized by the Department of Management Studies with a view to orient new entrants to the academic environment and culture of the University. Learners come with diverse thoughts, backgrounds & perceptions. Hence it becomes important to help them adjust to the new environment & inculcate the ethos of the University with a sense of larger purpose.

The induction programme is normally organized keeping in view three major phases i.e. Welcome Phase, Training Phase, and Concluding Phase. The induction is a harbinger of various in-campus & off-campus activities specially designed for new entrants. It helps the students to feel comfortable in new environment, to open up, set a healthy daily routine, create bonding in the batch as well as between faculty and students, develop awareness,

Cross-Cultural Event

GEU celebrated a Cross-Cultural Event, “Universal Hues”, wherein the students of 14 different countries (United Kingdom, France, Brazil, Serbia, Ukraine, Yemen, Liberia, Egypt, Angola, Malawi, Liberia, Ghana, Nigeria, Taiwan) participated. The event witnessed the confluence

PADMA SHRI ANIL JOSHI SENSITIZED STUDENTS ON ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND LIMITED USE OF RESOURCES

Department of Management studies conducted a seminar on Environmental Protection and use of resources: Padmshri Dr. Anil Prakash Joshi enlightened the students on the significance of the environment. In his address to the students, he focused on areas such as the local needs be met through locally available resources, air pollution, agriculture (including soil contamination), water issues, etc. He invited the students to visit the Himalayan Environmental Studies and Conservation Organization (HESCO). Padmshri laurite Dr. Anil Prakash Joshi is known as the mountain man and is one among the great green activists of the country. Hon'ble Chancellor Prof. Dr. RC Joshi, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor of GEHU Prof. Dr. Sanjay Jasola, HOD, DOMS Prof. Dr. Navneet Rawat, Dr. Neeraj Sharma including all faculty members and students of Department of Management studies were present on the

.The rally was held under the banner of “Unnat Bharat Abhiyan”. Apart from numerous students of the University participating in the rally, residents of nearby areas were visited and sensitized on these burning issues.

The rally also saw a cleanliness drive and public awareness posters being pasted in relevant places. Dr. A.S.Shukla (NSS Officer), Dr. Anzar Ahmad and Dr. Pradeep Juneja led the contingent as mentors.

Graphic Era Deemed to be University hosts UK Universities Education Fair 2019, wherein top most British Universities like University of Bristol, University of Essex, University of Surrey, Queen's University Belfast, Swansea University, Manchester Metropolitan University and Robert Gordon University participated.

Students interacted with the representatives of these universities and were provided with the scholarship opportunities for different courses, and various higher education opportunities.

Industrial Visit - MBA Ist Semester

Industrial Visit to Patanjali Food and Herbal Park, Haridwar, was organized by the Department of Management Studies for the 1st year students of MBA.The aim of the visit was to provide industrial exposure to the students and to make them aware of the organizational culture and organizational practices of a company.

A Visit to Apna Ghar (An orphanage)

Department of Management Studies organized A Visit to Apna Ghar (an orphanage) for the students of BBA studying Social welfare and services.

The aim of the visit was to sensitize the students towards social issues and in the process provide some aid to the inmates of Apna Ghar.

During the visit, the students shared some light moments with the children of Apna Ghar.

GBKC Fashions is a manufacturing unit of readymade garments particularly shirts for top Indian brands like Blackberry, Raymonds, Aditya Birla, and Future group.

Heritage Trip MBA Students

Department of Management Studies organized a trip for MBA - III semester students to Pathaal Badasi focusing on Uttarakhand Heritage and Culture.

Carpe diem is a word used to urge someone to make most of the present and give a little thought to the future.

When this particular idea merged with the thought of gaining experiential learning in the minds of our organizer then CARPE DIEM 2k19 was planned.

Finance and Investment Cell of the Department of Commerce collaborated with Tally Software and conducted Tally Commerce Aptitude Test (TCAT) in which more than 150 students participated actively. It was indeed a privilege for the department to organize the event.

Two days Intra-Department Quiz Competition

The event was managed by the MBA 1st Semester students who are part of this club. Following was the schedule:

Day 2: Consisted of questions based upon tagline, logos, business leaders, current affairs, etc. There was an audiovisual rapid-fire round too, in which students had to identify the famous personalities by looking at their photos and hearing their voices. The event was concluded with the address by Dr. Navneet Rawat Sir (H.O.D, Department of Management Studies). He motivated students to organize such events on a regular basis so that more students get a chance and be a part of this fun learning activity.

Quiz club (Department of Management Studies), Graphic Era Deemed to be University organized two days Intra-Department Quiz Competition.

Day 1: A written MCQ quiz was held, in which 160 students participated and competed for qualifying for the main event on the next day. Top 20 students were selected for the main event.

Product Launch 2019

The objective of the event was to unravel the lateral thinking, brainstorm and make the students cross the boundaries of their creativity with a touch of Corporate structure.

Department of Management Studies, Graphic Era Deemed to be University organized “Product Launch 2019” a three-day event for the students of MBA 1st Year.

During this event, the students were expected to form a company and showcase a hypothetical product and eventually launch it. Students were motivated to think out of the box and beyond their imagination but with some realism.

Students worked as a team and presented their ideas not only in the form of presentation but also with skits, handmade models, etc.

Information Seminar for the students

Graphic Era Deemed to be University empowered by #QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) organized an Information Seminar for the students of #GraphicEra regarding Higher Education Opportunities at topmost US Universities.

Representatives of the University of Southern California, USA (#129 QS World Ranking), Indiana University, USA (#312 QS World Ranking), University of South Florida, USA (#601-650 QS World Ranking) had a meeting with Graphic Era officials and delivered the seminar to the students.

On the auspicious occasion of 150 Years of Celebrating Mahatma Gandhi, Graphic Era organised a mega-cycle rally spanning 22 KMs to-and-fro from Graphic Era (Deemed to be University) to Gandhi Park. The rally ran on the theme of “Pedal Against Plastic” giving support and promoting the #NoSingleUsePlastic movement launched by Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. The event saw over 1000 students and faculty members actively participating. Here are some pics to display the fantastic energy experienced there, while having a look at the colourful T-shirts as well!

150 Years of Celebrating Mahatma Gandhi

Industrial Visit is tactically, one of the most hands-on methods of teaching. The primary reason behind this tag is that it lets students know things practically through interaction, working methods and employment practices. Students from the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering visited the premises of BHEL, Haridwar and #DEAL (DRDO), Dehradun, learning and being informed about the background of the companies and their current position in the global business scenario. The department also organized a talk around the topics aforementioned by Mr. Vikas Bhatia, Scientist-F, SCSG, DEAL(DRDO), Dehradun.

The students and faculty attended 3 sessions and had the opportunity to interact with a couple of the eminent speakers, Ms Shailja Brijnath, Ms Jo Chopra and Mr G K Swamy, speaking on the importance of impacting lives of social workers in Uttarakhand, Mr Manish Sisodia, orating his views on the new age of education, with his speech titled "Shiksha ka NayaDaur", and Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore, discussing the expectations of the youth, in his speech titled, "Youth and Expectations". The students have taken back a world of new ideas and philosophies, and are looking forward to attending the next fest for the same.

That's the beauty of books... They let you travel the entire world without even slightly moving your feet.

Literature is one of the most fascinating, interesting, and significant expressions of humanity. Around 150 1st Semester students from the Department of Management Studies participated in the annual Dehradun Literature Fest 2019 conducted at Doon International School, Dehradun.

The session covered the broader aspect of financial planning where the importance of technical analysis and fundamental analysis was brought into the limelight.

Mr. Yogendra Nigam, Certified Financial Planner, having expertise in the financial planning sector, enlightened the students with the technical aspect of the financial industry. He taught us how to execute plan related time value and money on the excel, however he also guided us to perform personal wealth management for our future endeavors. He provided brief exposure to the students about various retirement plans along with the Risk associated with them.

Graphic Era covered the longest area of Human Chain

A number of students and teachers from Graphic Era were involved in making human series. The responsibility of creating a human chain from Mohkampur flyover to Aragar chowk was entrusted to Graphic Era Deemed University and Graphic Era Hill University. Students and the teachers of Graphic Era reached in the morning to form a human chain in this 50km long area. During this, the students took out small rallies and also gave the message of polythene-free green doon to the people. Chairman Graphic Era Group, Prof. Dr. Kamal Ghanshala said that this largest educational group in Uttarakhand had raised a 22km long cycle rally on 2nd october to awaken people regarding polythene-free, clean and green doon. Everyday students are participating in this campaign by organizing a rally in clement town.

This year's tournament had the spectators at the edge of their seats in anticipation and excitement to see their department defeat all the others, and take the trophy home.

The Department of Computer Applications won the victory over in the final match opposite the Department of Computer Science. It was a nail-biting finish to an exhilarating match.

Department of Management Studies (DoMS), Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), Dehradun signs Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Youth Outreach, The Akshay Patra Foundation, Dehradun.

The purpose of the MoU is to extend a platform to students to become better aware about self and society, facilitating better management of self and thereby contribute to the societal betterment. It also envisages grooming students for facing challenges of life and social challenges in industrial exposures. Through the MoU, the students shall also be extended an opportunity for industrial visits to the Akshaya Patra Foundation, field visits in Government Schools and various campus internships such as FLIGHT, Youth Empowerment Training etc. Further collaboration in areas of mutual interest and synergy shall also be explored in future.
