Mr. Amien Rais, former leader of Muhammadiyah, one of the two biggest Muslim organizations in Indonesia and Chairman of Indonesian Parliament (People's Consultative Assembly, MPR) from 1999 to 2004 visited Pakistan Embassy on 30th September 2015, for a meeting with Ambassador Muhammad Aqil Nadeem.

Ambassador Aqil Nadeem called on Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Gen (R) Luhut Pandjaitan on 21 September 2015 to discuss matters of mutual interest.

50th Years Commemoration of Defence Day Held in Pakistan Embassy, Jakarta

As part of commemoration of 50th anniversary of 1965 war imposed on Pakistan, the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan organized a Seminar and a Photo Exhibition on 20th September 2015 at the premises of Embassy of Pakistan, Jakarta. The guest speakers included Dr. Zahir Khan, the Chairman, Kashmir Solidarity Forum, Dr. I. Gede Wahyu Wicaksana from Department of International Relations, University of Airlangga, Surabaya and Dr. Firman Wijaya of International Law highlighted various aspects of 1965’s war between India and Pakistan, especially the support of Indonesian government under President Soekarno and the people of Indonesia. The Ambassador of Pakistan, Mr. Mohammad Aqil Nadeem paid tributes to Pakistan Armed Forces and the people of Pakistan for defending the country.

He also thanked Indonesian people for standing by Pakistan and the moral, diplomatic and logistic support provided during and after the war. A large number of Pakistani and Indonesian nationals attended the event and took keen interest in the Photo Exhibition depicting various events of 1965 war and media coverage of the war by the Indonesian newspapers.

Photo Exhibition in Commemorating Pakistan 50th years of Defence Day

Pakistan Armed Forces Day Golf-2015 To commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Defence Day, a Golf Tournament was organised by the Embassy of Pakistan, Jakarta on 29 September 2015 in Bogor Raya Golf Course. Over 50 players participated in the event.

Eid Milan Dinner

Ambassador of Pakistan Aqil Nadeem hosted Eid Milan Dinner for Pakistani community in the Embassy on 24th September 2015.

Halal Food Seminar The Policy Analysis and Development Agency, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Indonesia organized the Foreign Policy Forum to formulate policy recommendations for promotion of halal industry in Indonesia on 31st August 2015. It was an interactive discussion attended by around 150 participants from Indonesian companies, chambers of commerce and government officials from different Ministries and Agencies. The Commercial Secretary participated on behalf of Embassy of Pakistan, Jakarta and gave presentation on Pakistan’s Experience—Development, Implementation and Promotion of Halal Industry”.

Pakistan Participating in Davis Cup 2015

The Tie started on 14 July with both singles being bagged by Pakistani players Aqeel Khan and Samir Iftikhar, in four and five set matches, respectively, against the top notch Indonesian players.Team Pakistan comprised Aqeel Khan, Samir Iftikhar and Muhammad Abid Ali Akbar, with veteran Davis Cupper Hameed-ul-Haq as the non-playing Captain.

The final day of the Tie, saw young Abid Ali Akbar grab victory in four sets with a score-card that reads 6-0, 7-6, 0-6, 6-2. With the win, Pakistan clinched the Tie 3 – 1.Being the Semi-Final of the Asia-Oceania Zone, the win was a very significant one for Pakistan.

Media Engagements

Ambassador Mohammad Aqil Nadeem has joined Pakistan Embassy in Jakarta as new Ambassador of Pakistan to Indonesia. His first interview was to Radio Republika Indonesia on 10th August 2015. On 14th August 2015, in commemoration of Independence Day of Pakistan, he was interviewed by daily Rakyat Merdeka.

Pakistan Robotic Delegates to Indonesia

Students of Centre for Advance Studies in Engineering (CASE) came to Yogyakarta, Indonesia, on 23 August 2015, to participate in ROBOCON 2015, Asia Pacific Robot Contest. CASE team also visited Pakistan Embassy in Jakarta on 24th August 2015.

Pakistan Builds World’s Largest Solar Park

The Quaid-e-Azam Solar Power Park (QASP) in Cholistan Desert, Punjab, having 400,000 solar panels, spread over 200 hectares of flat desert, is the world’s largest Solar Park. The 100MW photovoltaic cells (PV) solar farm was built by Chinese company Xinjiang SunOasis in just three months, and started selling electricity to the national grid in August 2013. This is the first energy project under the $46 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a key part of China’s ‘new silk road’, linking the port at Gwadar in southern Pakistan with Kashgar in China’s western region of Xinjiang.

Visit of Sharia Banking Delegates to Jakarta

Mr. Mehmood Arshad, Chairman FPCCI Committee on Banking & Finance (CEO of TAWUN) visited Indonesia second time on 3rd September 2015. Earlier, he visited Jakarta in April 2015 to explore possibilities of cooperation between Pakistan and Indonesia in Islamic Banking. We had a follow up meeting with officials of Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK) at Bank Indonesia headquarters on 3rd September 2015.
