    Our Centre’s 25th Anniversary Celebrations

On Friday 17th July our centre celebrated it’s 25th anniversary where we served over 100 guests a turkey dinner with all the trimmings, a homemade trifle and cake. We were privileged to receive a visit from the Mayor and Mayoress of Kensington and Chelsea along with the MP of Kensington, Victoria Borwick and a number of local councillors. We have been receiving some great feedback from our clients and representatives from local businesses and organisations who attended on the day. St Cuthbert’s Centre is delighted that this day turned out to be a huge success, but we couldn’t have achieved this without the support and dedication from many organisations and individuals who provided donations and volunteered their time on the day. We would like to take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Waitrose, and Tesco for their generosity in providing much of the food and flowers for the event and to Peter Jones and Harrods for providing the stunning celebratory cakes, but of course, also for coming to support us on the day itself.

    Knitting Group Jumble Sale

We are happy to see that jumble sale of the hand-made items crafted from our knitting group on our open day was a success, we will be planning to organise another in October just before the run up to this year’s winter initiative.

Since the success of last year’s winter initiative, we are delighted to see that our knitting group remains popular and that the participants are enjoining themselves. If you are interested in joining or learning how to knit or crochet, just pull up a chair - Moved back to Tuesdays 1pm - 3pm.

    Funding for Photography Group

We have been chosen as one of the Charities of the month by Peter Jones. The funds raised from this will be used to buy cameras, tripods and photographic paper.

We will keep you updated nearer the launch of this group, which will hopefully be during the Autumn period.

Summer Outing - 5th August We have raised the funding to organise a summer outing this year. As usual we have asked our clients to cast their votes on where they would like to go this year. Our winning destination this year is Eastbourne.

If you would like to go on the outing, please speak to a member of staff and they will put your name down on the list.

We only have a limited number of spaces so for this reason, only regular clients can be put on the list. Unfortunately we cannot reserve places for client’s friends or family members.

The coach will arrive at the bus stop on Warwick Road and leave at 8:45am. We cannot wait for latecomers so please make sure that you are get there on time!

Applying to volunteer at St Cuthbert’s Centre

St Cuthbert’s Centre would not be able to provide our services without the aid of our dedicated volunteers and we are always interested in expanding our team.

If you are interested in applying for the position of a General Day Centre Volunteer or if you would like to discuss setting up a group, please contact us and we will arrange an informal meeting.

Kensington & Chelsea Volunteer Centre Awards 2015

The Kensington & Chelsea Volunteer Centre, who have been supporting our Centre for many years now, has awarded several of our volunteers with a certificate to commemorate 100hrs of voluntary work within the Kensington & Chelsea area.

St Cuthbert’s Centre is lucky to have so many dedicated volunteers who have given so much of their time to helping us provide our much needed work within the community.

St Cuthbert’s Centre has also been developing a stronger working relationship with the Hammersmith & Fulham Volunteer Centre. We were pleased to see a representative at our open day on 17th July and look forward to forging a closer working relationship in the future.

We want to know what you think…

Your feedback about our Centre is invaluable, whether it’s positive or negative, it could be used to improve the services that we provide.

If you are a client at St Cuthbert’s Centre and you have something you want to share with us; a suggestion, a poem, a recipe, a joke or some art work. Please see a member of staff or submit a note in the suggestions and complaints box and we can have your work published in the next edition of our newsletter.

    Client Feedback

We have the results in from the Annual Client Satisfaction Survey.

When asked if you have an interest or activity that you would like to see on offer or a need that you would like us to meet? Here is some of the feedback we received:

More literature available in library, exercise classes, a debate group, creative writing classes and performing arts activities.

St Cuthbert’s Centre has received much positive feedback, particularly the home made lunches served by our amazing cook Nassim.

As well as the great feedback about our general services and facilities, we are also happy to have had so many positive comments about the atmosphere of the Centre, as well as it being a good place to socialise and relax.

    Some of our client’s comments:

‘It’s so friendly and has a social ethos which is good!’

‘Peace, perfect peace. No drinking, aggro, profanity etc. Shower, laundry, good, cheap food.’

As a means of improvement, St Cuthbert’s Centre is in the process of securing funding to refurbish the shower room as well as seeking to procure funds to refurbish the hall in general.

(we will be distributing a more detailed breakdown of our client satisfaction survey results)
