It’s hard to believe how quickly this year has gone by and how much we have accomplished and experienced over the past 12 months. Thank you to all parents, family and community members who attended our end of year Presentations this week; your support is greatly appreciated! The wide range of academic, cultural, sporting and leadership awards that were presented to students from Kindergarten to Year 6 was astounding! Performances from the school band, the Schools Spectacular dancers, Eliza’s public speaking speech and the school choir were first class and really highlighted the well-rounded education all students receive at Cowra Public School. A special thank you to the teachers and Year 6 leaders for their efforts in ensuring each Presentation ceremony ran so smoothly. With class parties being held today, I’m sure students AND teachers enjoyed the opportunity to let their hair down, relax and have fun with their friends! This week I am pleased to announce that Mrs Tracey McFarland has been appointed, through the merit selection process as our newest permanent teacher at Cowra Public School. Tracey has been a familiar face at CPS for many years and I am thrilled that she now joins the staff in a per- manent capacity, and will be with us for many more years to come. We were also very excited to receive the news that Aunty Esther Cutmore and Year 6 student Tahlee-Pearl Beckett were deserving winners at the recent Wudhagaragarra Awards held in Dub- bo. Aunty Esther received the “Award for Outstanding Contribution to Educational Achievement” by an elder and Tahlee- Pearl was awarded the “Encouragement Award for a Stage 3 Student” following her recent win in the State NAIDOC Public Speaking Awards. We are very proud of both Tahlee-Pearl and Aunty Esther and congratulate them on this wonderful achievement. Yesterday our community and parent helpers were invited to attend a special morning tea as a token of thanks, on behalf of all the students and staff at Cowra Public School. We are very grateful for the ongoing support we receive from our fabulous school community. Students also had the chance to celebrate their excellent behaviour at our PBL Acknowledgement Water Fun Day! There were slip’n’slides, sprinklers, water pistols and lots of fun and laughter coming from all areas of the playground, and was a perfect way to cool down amidst the very hot weather! Last night our Year 6 students celebrated the end of their primary school years with the Year 6 farewell taking place in the school hall. Thank you to the Stage 3 teachers who organised this special event. I hope that all students enjoyed their special night and the opportunity to spend time with their classmates and teachers during their last few days as Primary School students. Tomorrow is the last day of Term for all students and our Year 6 Graduation Ceremony will be held at 2:40pm in the auditorium. I would like to wish our outgoing Year 6 students all the very best as they embark on the next phase of their educational journey. I’m sure the grounding they have received whilst at CPS will serve them very well as they begin their secondary education. We are very proud of all of you! A reminder that school resumes for students in Years 1-6 on Tuesday 30 th January 2018. Our new Kindergarten children will receive a letter next week advising each family of their child’s Best Start Assessment times – these assessments will be held on Tuesday 30 th , Wednesday 31 st and Thursday 1 st February with all Kindergarten children attending school on Friday 2 nd February. On behalf of all the staff I would like to wish all families a very Merry Christmas and a safe and relax- ing holiday! Until next year… Jenny Lewis Principal

***KC & KM VISIT THE NEIGHBOURHOOD CENTRE FOR CHRISTMAS***

On Friday KM & KC visited the neighbourhood Centre to perform at their community morning tea! Our Kinder students sang the “Reindeer Holey Pokey” and each Kinder student made a gift which they presented to a member of the audience. KM made reindeers from recycled materials and twigs. KC made pine cones decorated with glitter and paint. Merry Christmas to all our CINC friends…..we look forward to continuing our fortnightly visits in 2018!
