EDITORIAL Time is important to most of us ,it governs much of our lives. Scholars

think the ancient Sumerians and Babylonians divided the day into 24

hours, the hour into sixty minutes and the minute into sixty seconds.

They divided the year into 365 days, about the time it takes the Earth to

circumnavigate the Sun. There is a small hitch, the Earth takes nearer 365

days and 6 hours to complete its journey round the Sun. To stop the

calendar drifting through the seasons an extra day is added every 4 years.

Leap year does not seem to attract much celebration. Perhaps Morval

could have a time day !

PARISH NEWS Hello Everybody At its meeting held in January, Cornwall Councillor Candy reported that

the planning application for a Gypsy and Traveller camp to be located at

South Treviddo Farm, near the Lean Quarry exit off of the A38, was

approved at the appeal stage. Morval Parish Council did comment on this

application when it was first received by stating that it was unable to

support it. Please accept this as an open invitation for all people of the parish to

come to the Annual Parish Meeting which will be held at the Reading

Room, Widegates on the 6th April, 2016. As in previous years, there will

be an opportunity for the people of the parish to meet councillors before

the meeting begins. Any organisation wishing to give a brief update or

information about itself should contact the clerk so that this can be

arranged. The "meet and greet" session will begin at 6.30 pm whilst the

actual meeting will start at 7.00 pm. Light refreshments will be available

between 6.30 and 7.00 pm. The monthly council meeting will begin at

7.30 pm and all members of the public are very welcome to stay for it if

they wish to. Grants requests will be considered by the Parish Council during its April

meeting. Any organisation requiring a grant application form and copy of

the grants policy should contact the clerk. The clerk is on annual leave from Saturday the 20th February until the 1st

March. Regards Lynnette Sutton

WIT & WISDOM “I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that

is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the

time that is given us.” J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

“It has been said, 'time heals all wounds.' I do not agree. The wounds

remain. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity, covers them with scar

tissue and the pain lessens. But it is never gone.” Rose Kennedy “For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be

whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want.

You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can

make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I

hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt

before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you

live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the

courage to start all over again.” Eric Roth, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button Screenplay

“It has been said, 'time heals all wounds.' I do not agree. The wounds

remain. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity, covers them with scar

tissue and the pain lessens. But it is never gone.” Rose Kennedy

POEM OF THE MONTH

A Leaf from the Spiral of Trees

Rowan: The Lady of the Mountains

Slowly now the sap it rises,

Quickens life divine;

Inspiration fires visions,

Mysteries most fine.

Fire of faith and human kindness,

Shake off winter cold;

Waking spirit, truthsense seeker,

Grow now strong and bold.

Eye’s delight and berried beauty,

Darkness charmed to bright;

Spinning wheels of time perpetual,

Blossom sacred light.

Levow Kesson Harmonious Voices We re-started rehearsals in January having made the decision to become a

mixed-voice choir, and what a good decision it has proved to be! With

our tenor and bass voices we are now able to take on a broader range of

music and we're all enjoying the rich harmony we make together.

There will be more news about our first gig together - the St Piran's Day

Concert in St Martin's Church, Liskeard - in the next issue of Outlook, so,

if you're free on a Tuesday evening at 7.30pm, come along to the

Liskerrett Centre in Liskeard (Doniert Room) to enjoy two hours of

singing, good company and refreshments. All welcome! (Free parking in

the Cattle Market Car Park). Look forward to seeing you!

See www.levowkesson.weebly.com for more information.

On Sunday April 24th Churchtown Gardens, The walled Garden and the

Old Vicarage Garden will all be open to raise money for St Luke's

Hospice. Refreshments will be available in St Wenna's church.

TRENODE C OF E VA SCHOOL We were all saddened by the sudden death of one of our dear governors

Mrs Nichola Southwell towards the end of January. Nichola had been a

member of staff here at Trenode a number of years ago and then more

recently had joined us again as a Governor. She was a very committed,

knowledgeable and enthusiastic member of the Governing Body who was

always keen to help and support us whenever she could. We will miss her

greatly. Our thoughts and prayers are with Nichola’s family at this very

sad time. This term some of the older children entered the Rotary International

Youth Speaks Competition once again. We were delighted that the team

did so well that they were selected to represent our area at the District

Semi Finals. Congratulations to Ellen Marsh, Lily Priestley and Bethany

Plane on their success. We wish them well in the next round. The whole school visited View Pan Asia in Plymouth to celebrate

Chinese New Year at the beginning of February. We had a brilliant time

sampling all sorts of delicious Chinese and Asian food. We will be participating in Fair Trade Fortnight with our Annual Fair

Trade Cafe on Friday 11th March at 2.30pm. Please come along and hear

the children talk about Fair Trade. The talk will be followed by the Fair

Trade Cafe organised by Mrs Willmott. Please come and support this

worthy cause. All welcome! We are collecting Sainsbury’s Active Vouchers, which we can convert

into sports and healthy lifestyle equipment. Please pop any that you have

to spare into the School Office. As we enter the second half of term we have much to look forward to

including, World Book Day, Red Nose Day, National Science Week,

Messy Church and at the end of term Easter celebrations. To find out more about what is happening at school go online and find us

at: www.trenode.cornwall.sch.uk.

CHURCHES TOGETHER (Looe &District - Morval) There was a record turn out for the Christian Unity Prayer Service at

Sclerder Abbey at the end of January. Over 70 prayers for unity were

collected from the member churches from Pelynt to Polperro and all in

between! The prayer bunting has been displayed at Morval and other

churches for everyone to enjoy - some truly beautiful prayers. There is a

Women's World Day of Prayer service at 2.30pm Friday 4th March and a

Tenebrae Service at 7pm on the 24th March, both at Riverside Church,

West Looe. Tenebrae is Latin for darkness or shadows and is a very

moving service which recreates the emotions of the passion story with

much symbolism within the service of diminishing light as we approach

the darkness of Jesus' death. If you are interested in learning more about the work of Churches

Together and sharing in great work and ideas then please

visit www.churchestogetherincornwall.org.uk for more info or

alternatively please contact Helen Priestley Tel 241188

MESSY CHURCH Messy Church continues to be well supported by many local families with

a regular group of 20 or so children and parents gathering together for

fun, crafting and learning about God. The next Messy Church is on

Friday 22nd April 3.30-5pm. Messy Church is free and great creative fun

for everyone whether you want to get stuck in and make yourself or

watch others enjoying themselves while having a cup of tea and a

biscuit. For further details regarding Messy Church please contact Helen

on 01503 241188 or email [email protected]
