Flood Remediation Update!

Our Flood Remediation is moving forward. As of July 1, the asbestos tile in West basement has been abated. Next steps will include refinishing and sealing the floor and painting. In late July, we will begin doing the same in Hanover Hall.

There is lots to do before August, including declutter, choose colors and selecting landscape options. We are in need of additional help, particularly on the landscape committee. If you feel called to help, please contact Rev. Hollie.

The remediation plan is extensive and includes abating the asbestos, refinishing the floor, painting, and sorting some drainage issues. The work will total almost $115,000 and Seventh Street has raised or pledged $107,000 to date. CONGRATULATIONS! Should you feel called to give, you can mail a check or donate online with the memo: Flood Remediation.

This remediation work will put Seventh Street on the right path to help mitigate water damage, allowing us to continue our ministry with the community that uses our space and maintain a hospitable space for everyone. Join Rev. Hollie throughout the summer to discuss the convergence of our faith, current events and real life!

We will try a different brewery each meeting from 6:30-8PM. Feel free to bring snacks (there are usually food trucks).

All locations are kid friendly. Our discussions will be too!

We'll try to sit outside so pups can join us!

Strategic Plan Memo

MEMORANDUM

To: Members of the Congregation– Seventh St. Christian Church

From: SSCC Strategic Planning Team: Bill Dickinson, Hollie Woodruff, Cheryl Lage, Steve Cheney

CC: Terri Cheney, Board Chair

Date: June 26, 2019

Subject: Strategic Plan for SSCC - Year 1: July 1, 2019 - June 30, 2020

Ladies and Gentlemen –

With this memo, we are transmitting a proposed draft of a plan for Year 1 of a multi-year plan for the ministry of Seventh Street Christian Church. After almost a year discussing the ideas you all brought forth in our luncheon meeting last June, we came to several conclusions:

• the strategies you proposed for future ministries at Seventh Street showed considerable energy, interest and enthusiasm for growing the Church’s efforts in the coming years;

• several of the strategies generated at that session are already in progress but those efforts were not being effectively communicated to the congregation;

• our ability to implement some of the good ideas generated will depend on the willingness of members to become “champions” of those ideas and to lead in implementing them and

• a few of the ideas advanced in the luncheon session - in our opinion - were good ideas whose time has not yet come for Seventh Street.

In the attached plan, which has been approved by the Board, you’ll find not only the ongoing ministries of the Church but also a listing of good ideas needing a “champion” as well as those ideas whose time, in our opinion, has not yet come at Seventh Street.

Before introducing the plan itself, two further clarifications are necessary. First, this is not a long-term strategic plan for the Church but a plan for the coming year only. We intend to monitor our progress in carrying out these strategies for this upcoming year and gradually extend the planning time frame over the coming years. And secondly, we have set the planning time period from July 1 to June 30 to avoid having to update or rework the plan just as new Church leadership is installed at the beginning of a calendar year.

We will review this document briefly following the Worship Service on Sunday, July 7, and will welcome your suggestions for change and your ultimate adoption of this plan (with revisions, where necessary) for the ministry of Seventh Street Christian Church over the coming year.
