WHAT ISTHE POP UPBUSINESS SCHOOL?
I know what: let's force all new business start-ups to go straight into debt. No wonder so many new businesses fail if they start in debt!
Most businesses expect you to pay up front before they give you the product. So why do most start-ups do the work first then ask to be paid?
3
Scare people off with a cash-flow forecast and a list ofthe possible start-up costs.
The quickest way to start a business is to sell something to someone. Don't waste time making it first; go and talk to potential customers.
2
This is the process that all traditional business support companies teach. It actually slows most new businesses down and scares a lot of businesses out of ever starting

The PopUp Business School approach to starting a business
The PopUp Business School Approach
This can be a daunting prospect for some people who just aren't that literate. It slows most new businesses down and scares off potential
entrepreneurs.
Start by helping people see it is possible and then believe that they can do it. Everything starts with self-belief and confidence.

How do we know what a customer actually wants before we ask them? In most traditional business plans product comes before
sales; why?
If you sell first & take the money up front you are in profit from day one. You never have to go into debt and the energy that 1st sale gives you will drive the business forward.
The only way to know if a customers is actually interested is to ask them to buy; not to interview them. What you have sold; exceed expectations and delight the customer.
Why do we wait months to start selling? The easiest way to get your 2nd customer is to get another one just like your 1st. So if your 1st sale was to a hotel; go and pitch to every other hotel in the area!
It seems that common business sense is that you won't make money in your first year. No wonder so many businesses fail if
you have to wait that long to make a profit!
Business should be fun, if you don't enjoy it then you aren't going to keep doing it. So let's find a way to have fun and make money at the same time.

MESSAGESFOR PARTNERS
I am extremely grateful to all the partners in having the vision to invest in local people and small businesses by supporting the event. I thought the opportunity to test trade was really relevant and perhaps test trading days can be run more regularly. It was a shame to see the beautiful top floor of the market vacant, it has the potential to be a wonderful creative. The location of the event was great in that it had plenty of space but it was extremely cold for the time of year so perhaps this can have further consideration for future events.
I believe that this has helped many prospective business minded people to get together and gain contacts and information. It also showed Newport council that there are people that want to invest in Newport if they are given the chance.
Very GRATEFUL - thank you. I feel this course is really important for Newport and the surrounding area. A lot of happy motivated people left at the end of the course. Better room for doing the course in- one that is warm and quiet. Thanks for tea and biscuits.
Thank you very much for making this popup business school happen at the time that I needed to know on my next career change in my life as that I needed to know the next things to do in trying to run a very hopeful business. This school has helped me a lot of knowledge that I needed I just hope that I can fulfill my dreams in this next chapter in my life.
Please keep running this event. It would be great if a similar course for 1 week was run as a follow up and spend a couple of days completely on websites.Really enjoyed the event, Newport needs to encourage and help young people interested in starting a business. As it is our younger generation who are the future.
For myself this has been the best business startup course I have ever done, and I've done a few! I feel now feel equipped both practically (marketing, website etc.) and mentally (confidence, mindset etc. ) to start my business which I've never done before. Even if I encounter any problems the course has given me the skills and confidence to get over anything. I just wish I did the first 5 days (I had childcare issues). Thank you so much for inviting them to Newport.
Thank you for supporting the event and please continue so that others can benefit from the drive, enthusiasm and encouragement of the PopUp team.
Continued support for this event by local councils etc. is needed. Important for local economy as new business may offer employment, solutions to problems in the area, and help build a positive reputation in areas like Newport attracting other opportunities.
