2013 Newmarket River Cruises

Welcome to our latest brochure of cruises aboard warm and welcoming MS Olympia, covering voyages on Europe’s most beautiful rivers, including the mighty Rhine, the meandering Moselle and – by popular demand in 2013 – the glorious ‘Blue’ Danube. With some wonderful festive cruises to Germany’s famous Christmas Markets, and springtime sailings to the colourful Dutch waterways and incomparable bulbfields, this is a marvellous collection that is sure to prove popular with regular customers and those joining Olympia for the first time.

2013 will be the 5th year that Newmarket has been associated with Olympia, and the feedback from our passengers about the ship’s friendly crew and on-board Cruise Managers gets better and better! We challenge you to find the same levels of friendly service, good food, evening entertainment, relaxing home comforts and enthralling itineraries at such great value anywhere else.

Part of Olympia’s charm is the fact she carries less than 100 passengers each sailing, which means our most popular itineraries sell out quickly every year. Book now to secure your cabin selection on the cruise of your choice today!

We look forward to the pleasure of your company!

“I’m looking forward to welcoming you aboard Newmarket’s excellent cruise programme for 2013. I never get tired of the stunning scenery, picturesque villages and fairytale castles we pass as we sail to our next destination.

I’m delighted to take Olympia back to the Danube in 2013. We’ll call at some of Central Europe’s most beautiful cities including Vienna and Budapest – what better way can there be to discover these “must-see” destinations?

As always my crew and I will do everything we can to make sure your time on board is an enjoyable one. I’m sure we’ll recognise many familiar faces, and we look forward to meeting new passengers on board our very friendly ship!”

The Lounge & BarMuch of the day, when you’re on board ship, might be spent relaxing in a seat in the comfortable lounge, enjoying the passing scenery, curled up with a good book, chatting to fellow passengers or even joining in a friendly game of cards – a river cruise holiday doesn’t have to be all about sightseeing or shopping! Enjoy a mid-morning coffee or afternoon tea, or a drink from the adjacent bar – before heading downstairs to the dining room.

In the evenings, the lounge and bar put on a different cloak, as the on-board pianist and the ship’s crew put on some light-hearted entertainment and there’s even the opportunity on occasions to take to the dance floor.

Top Deck ViewsOn fine days there’s nowhere better to take in the passing scenery as Olympia glides on her way than from the ship’s Top Deck, which serves as an observation platform for keen sightseers and perfect hideaway for sun-worshippers and lovers of the open-air. Equipped with sun-loungers and outdoor chairs, the Top Deck offers the very best of life on the river.

6

Life on Board – your Olympia dayFrom beginning to end of each wonderful day on board MS Olympia, you’ll enjoy a memorable holiday experience.

Whether you awaken as the ship continues on her gentle way, or to greet a new port of call, you’ll leave your cabin to enjoy a full breakfast in the dining room, or to take the air on top deck.

The day’s programme will be organised by our on-board Cruise Manager, and it might be time to step ashore to enjoy an included or optional excursion.

The Olympia Dining ExperienceOne of the undoubted highlights of your Olympia river cruise holiday will be the full-board dining arrangement in the ship’s delightful lower-deck restaurant. Crisp linen tablecloths, attentive waiting staff and sumptuous fare – a mix of regional specialities, international dishes and meals tailored to British palates, all prepared by the on-board chefs – served in comfortable, relaxed surroundings add up to a wonderful experience three times each day.

A well-stocked breakfast buffet, including hot dishes, sets you up for the day ahead, while lunch generally includes a salad buffet and lighter main dish. In the evening, when the atmosphere is generally more ‘smart casual’ than ‘formal’ – although gentlemen may like to don a jacket

for the special Captain’s Welcome and Farewell nights (available on longer duration cruises only) – a delicious four-course meal is served.

As Olympia sails through regions famed for their love of good food, expect to taste some local dishes, and don’t miss the opportunity to sample the wines for which the Rhine and Moselle are celebrated. In Cologne, it’s the local Kölsch beer that takes pride of place, while in Rüdesheim, another regular port of call, you might try the local Asbach brandy.

Olympia sails overnight, slipping away from Cologne to begin her journey up-river.

Day Two ~ CochemAwake as Olympia makes her way into the meanders of the River Moselle, its twists and turns taking it beneath hillsides overflowing with vines and topped by historic castles. Pretty villages dot the banks, each more beautiful than the last.

By early afternoon, Olympia will have arrived in the prettiest town of all, half-timbered Cochem, nestled beneath the fairytale turrets of the Reichsburg castle, which can be explored on this afternoon’s optional excursion.

This evening, before dinner on board, take a stroll through Cochem’s delightful streets, and enjoy an optional wine-tasting in one of this famous wine-town’s many weinstüben.

This afternoon, Olympia turns to make her scenic way downstream to her overnight mooring in Alken.

Day Five ~ Rüdesheim & the Rhine in FlamesAn unforgettable day awaits, as early this morning Olympia slips her moorings to leave Alken behind and sail into the picturesque heart of the Middle Rhine, heading through the narrow gorge beneath the fabled Lorelei, the legendary rock where sirens were said to have lured sailors to their fate.

Step ashore to explore this delightful, year-round holiday haven, with its narrow streets – the most celebrated of which, the Drosselgasse, is lined with bars and weinstüben.

Join our optional excursion to see the quirky wonders of Siegfried’s Musikkabinett, and this evening, enjoy the highlight of the cruise, as you watch a procession of illuminated craft take to the water, and the night sky explodes in a dazzling burst of ‘fiery magic’ that is the unique experience of the famous ‘Rhine in Flames’ – one of Europe’s most colourful celebrations.

Day Six ~ Cruise to BoppardThis morning Olympia sails back through the breath-taking Gorge and on to the picture-book wine town of Boppard, known as the

Day Two ~ CochemOlympia sails early this morning from Andernach, heading upstream into the Middle Rhine to Koblenz and the mighty Ehrenbreitstein castle, then into the scenic twists and turns of the River Moselle, arriving by lunchtime in pretty half-timbered Cochem, nestled beneath fairy-tale Reichsburg Castle. heading through the narrow gorge beneath the fabled Lorelei, the legendary rock where sirens were said to have lured sailors to their fates.

This afternoon, Olympia ties up in Rüdesheim, the most celebrated of the Rhineland wine towns. Step ashore to explore this delightful, year-round holiday haven, with its narrow streets – the most celebrated of which, the Drosselgasse, is lined with bars and weinstuben. Join our optional excursion to see the quirky wonders of Siegfried’s Musikal Kabinett.

Day Five ~ Mannheim and MainzHaving sailed south during the night, Olympia arrives early this morning in stylish Mannheim, at the confluence of the Rhine and the River Neckar. Join the optional excursion to beautiful Heidelberg, the ‘Student Prince’ city set beneath an imposing castle – one of Germany’s ‘must-see’ destinations. You’ll return to Olympia in time to sail on to the great city of Mainz, capital of the Rhineland-Palatinate and famous as the hometown of Johannes Gutenburg, the father of the printing press. Enjoy dinner on board, and step ashore to explore.

Day Six ~ Cruise to FrankfurtEnjoy an included walking tour of Mainz, a formerly hugely powerful city, with its six-towered cathedral, Gutenberg Museum and delightful Altstadt of half-timbered houses, before returning to Olympia for this afternoon’s sailing into the River Main, passing through an exquisite vineyard-clad landscape, and heading east towards the contrast of the soaring ‘Mainhattan’ skyline of Frankfurt, where you’ll arrive after dinner this evening.

Day Seven ~ FrankfurtAn optional guided tour this morning will bring to life Germany’s fifth-largest city. North of the river is the historic Altstadt, centred on the rebuilt central square,

the Römerberg, and surrounded by the remnants of ancient fortifications. Close by, the towering façade of the Kaiserdom church dominates the eastern end of the Altstadt, dwarfed in turn by the sky-piercing buildings of the Financial District to the west. South of the river, the delightful lanes of Sachsenhausen are home to countless cafés and bars served traditional Ebbelwoi or Apfelwein cider.

The rest of the day is free – perhaps to visit one of the city’s many outstanding museums, to take a ride up the vertiginous Maintower for the stunning views, or to rest and relax on board Olympia. This evening, the Captain hosts a Farewell Dinner, with chance to swap memories of the past wonderful few days with fellow passengers.

Day Eight ~ Disembark in FrankfurtBid “Auf wiedersehen” to Olympia and her crew this morning, and begin your return journey back to the UK.

Please Note: The 4th & 5th October cruises operate a reverse itinerary sailing from Frankfurt to Andernach. All included calls and highlights remain the same although the days will change. On these dates Olympia will overnight in Alken on 10th October following time in Cochem. All pricing and optional excursions remain the same.

Travel by CoachConvenient, free local pick-upsOur Newmarket coaches will collect you at a pick-up point convenient to you and take you to your chosen ferry port. In addition to crossings to Calais, if you are starting your journey from the north of England or Scotland, we offer departures from Hull and Newcastle ferry ports on a wide selection of our cruises. Sailing with P&O or DFDS, your cruising holiday will begin from the moment you board for your overnight crossings. On board you can enjoy the ship’s bars and restaurants, evening entertainment including live music, or even browse in the shops before retiring to your cabin to arrive on the continent completely refreshed.

Meet at PortMore dates to choose fromMany clients like to drive themselves to the ferry port, taking advantage of a wider range of dates on which a local pick-up point isn’t available in their area. We’ll provide an exact meeting point and time with the holiday Joining Instructions, and should you choose to leave a car at the port, we offer secure parking at Dover’s Eastern Docks for just £10.00 per day (pre-bookable), or at either Newcastle or Hull for approximately £6.00 per day – payable directly at the ports on arrival or departure (not pre-bookable).

With an onward ferry crossing and comfortable coach travel to join Olympia, our ‘Meet at the Port’ arrangements really do give added flexibility on these wonderful river cruise holidays.

Rail InclusiveTravel by Rail to join MS OlympiaEnjoy a relaxing journey by rail departing from either London St. Pancras or Ebbsfleet Station to Brussels in a reserved seat with Eurostar™. You will then travel onwards via the excellent regional rail system to Amsterdam for our Amsterdam and Bulbfields Spectacular cruise and Best of Springtime Holland, or to Cologne for Rhine and Moselle cruises. Return transfers from your destination rail station to MS Olympia are included in the price. Please note: The rail travel option is subject to availability.

Pre-Cruise Overnight Accommodation – including Car ParkingHoliday Inn Ashford North, KentIf you are travelling from some distance away, and you’d like to join MS Olympia on a date on which a local pick-up point isn’t available, or even if you’d simply like to begin your holiday in style, the delightful Holiday Inn, in its rural setting close to Dover, provides an ideal pre-departure overnight stay, as well as free-parking for your car for the duration of your holiday. Choose this option, and our coach will call to collect you on the morning of your departure, taking you to the port, and on to join Olympia. Available on Dover departures only, the ‘Overnight Stay’ arrangement brings yet more flexibility and enjoyment to your chosen Olympia cruise.

Joining Your Olympia CruiseOur Flexible Travel Options give you the choice of several ways to join MS Olympia for your cruise holiday, ensuring maximum convenience and pleasure – as well as prices to suit most pockets.

Channel crossings to Calais, or overnight sailings from Newcastle or HullAll our coach-inclusive holidays include the pleasures of either daytime Channel crossings to Calais, or where shown on the holiday information panel, return overnight North Sea sailings between Newcastle and Amsterdam, or Hull and Rotterdam or Zeebrugge. Your coach will travel with you throughout the journey.

All the vessels used offer a wide range of on-board amenities, including restaurant, bar and shopping facilities, and on the overnight DFDS and P&O sailings from Newcastle and Hull respectively, guests enjoy the added bonus of accommodation in a comfortable two-berth (one upper and one lower bed) inside cabin with private facilities, as well as many on-board diversions and entertainments. Please note that accommodation in two lower beds is available at a supplement of £24 per person.

With the two additional nights spent aboard a luxurious ‘cruise-ferry’, and by avoiding several hundred miles’ driving down to Dover and back, journeys to and from MS Olympia are even more relaxed and leisurely.

You’ll find further information on the departure dates and supplement prices for a Ferry Crossing from Hull or Newcastle in the information panel on the page of your chosen River Cruise.

Important note about Coach TimingsPlease note that departure times from local pick-up points for the Dover or Ashford to Calais-inclusive holidays tend to be early in the morning, with the overnight sailing-inclusive holidays departing later in the day. Exact timings are always issued with Joining Instructions approximately seven days prior to the holiday. ‘Meet at Port’ arrangements are available on all coach-inclusive holidays.

“Very well organised and smoothly run itinerary.

Peace of MindTravel insurance can play an essential part in ensuring you are able to enjoy every moment of your time on holiday, without worrying what might happen should bad luck befall you. Hence, we insist that everyone travelling abroad with Newmarket has travel insurance. This must be either the Newmarket Travel Insurance policy underwritten by Mondial Assistance Europe NV and administered in the UK by Mondial Assistance (UK) Ltd, or an alternative travel insurance policy. The Newmarket travel insurance policy is only available to UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man residents and English law will apply.

The Cover – Main Features; Limits/Excesses applicable

The policy provides cover for:

• Personal Accident – up to £15,000

•  Overseas Emergency Medical and  Associated Expenses – up to £5 million  (less £70 excess) where applicable

•  Cancellation or Curtailment Charges – up to the cost of the holiday (less maximum excess of £70)

•  Abandonment of the holiday – up to the cost of the holiday (less £70 excess)

•  Personal Possessions – up to £1,000 in total (less £70 excess) including up to £500 for valuables

•  Delayed Personal Possessions – up to £75

•  Personal Money – up to £250  (less £70 excess)

•  Loss of Passport – up to £250•  Missed Departure – up to £800

•  Personal Liability – up to £1 million

•  Legal Expenses – up to £10,000

The Cover – Significant Health Exclusions; Health Declaration

The policy does not cover any claim arising from a medical condition for which, at the time of taking out the policy, an insured person:• Is being prescribed regular medication; or• Has received treatment for or had a consultation

with a doctor or hospital specialist in the past 12 months; or

• Is being referred to, treated by or under the care of a doctor or a hospital specialist; or

• Is awaiting treatment or the results of any tests or investigations; or

• Has been diagnosed with or treated for cancer in the last 5 years unless the condition(s) has (have) been declared, and accepted in writing.

Please call the confidential medical line on 0845 618 0344 if you need to declare a medical condition, if you develop a medical condition after the policy was issued, if your existing medical condition changes after the policy was issued or if you are unsure whether a medical condition needs to be declared or not. This helpline will be able to tell you whether or not cover can be provided for your medical condition(s). You do not have to declare minor ailments e.g. hay fever, colds/flu, ear infections, dental treatment if you have had no further problems since or if you have been advised by your doctor that it is safe to travel. An additional premium may be payable.

The Policy Document This will be sent to you with your confirmation of reservation. It is the full terms and conditions of the policy.

Excess Waiver InsuranceIf an excess applies, you can avoid this being deducted from a successful claim by taking out optional Excess Waiver Insurance in addition to the policy.

The PremiumThe cost of the policy is £16.00 (2-4 days), £25.00 (5-9 days), £30.00 (10-15 days). The cost of Excess Waiver Insurance is £6.00 for each person aged 2 or over at the date of travel. All premiums are inclusive of Insurance Premium Tax at the current rate. You must pay all applicable premiums at the time of booking and cover starts from the moment we receive these monies. If you are travelling abroad with us, we will automatically add the cost of the policy to your invoice if, at the time of booking, you do not provide us with the required information about an alternative policy.

Cancellation RightsIf your cover does not meet your requirements, please return the documentation within 14 days of receipt and your premium will be refunded in full unless you have travelled made a claim or intend to make a claim.

Making a complaintThe policy contains a complaints procedure which tells you what steps you can take if you wish to make a complaint.

Travel Insurance

Your Financial ProtectionYour holiday and your money are fully protected when you book with Newmarket Holidays. In line with the EC Directive on Package Travel, Newmarket Holidays, part of Newmarket Promotions Limited, offers complete financial protection for all customers through our ABTA and ATOL bonds.

Travel InsuranceAppropriate cover is a requirement on a Newmarket Holiday abroad. You don’t need to purchase your travel insurance from us but if you would like further information on Newmarket Holiday’s insurance policy, please see the information below.

Customers with Health ConcernsSo that we can advise you of any accessibility issues, it is essential that you let us have details of any special requests you may have at the time of booking. MS Olympia does not have a lift and has approximately 12 steps leading down to the restaurant and approximately 12 steps leading up to the sun deck. Therefore this holiday is unsuitable for passengers who are totally confined to a wheelchair, but is suitable for passengers with limited mobility, as long as they are accompanied by an able-bodied fellow passenger. The promenade deck cabins would be most suitable for passengers with mobility problems. Collapsible wheelchairs are most suitable. If you have suffered from a serious medial condition recently, then you should consult with your Doctor about your fitness to travel.

Optional Shore ExcursionsOptional shore excursions are available on all of our cruises. We recommend that you book in advance

to ensure good availability on your chosen excursion. Please note, all our optional excursions are subject to a minimum number of participants and in the unlikely event that minimum numbers are not reached and the tour is cancelled, your payment will be returned in full.

CurrencyAlthough there is nowhere to exchange currency on board there is an on board credit card system that enables you to charge drinks and sundries (including optional excursions) to your account. The currency is the Euro, and your final bill is payable by credit/debit card (American Express is not accepted) or cash at the end of the cruise. All countries visited use the Euro with the exception of Switzerland which uses the Swiss Franc. However many shops and restaurants do also accept the Euro.

TippingTipping is not compulsory and is of course at your discretion. From our experience we know that many of you do wish to leave gratuities for the crew on board, and for this purpose an envelope will be left in your cabin. Please note, if you do wish to tip your Cruise Manager or coach drivers, then this should be organised separately. As a rough guide, most passengers tip approximately 6 Euros per person per day for service on board.

LanguageThe main language spoken on board will be English, and in addition to English-speaking crew on board, there is also a dedicated Newmarket Cruise Manager to help with any queries and who will provide on board commentary in English.

Dress CodeThe dress code on board and ashore is casual, although of course you can dress as smartly as you like in the evening, especially for the Captain’s Dinner!

We recommend you dress comfortably during the day.

LuggagePlease note that non-rigid suitcases are easier to store within your cabin space.

Your ItineraryWe endeavour to follow the itinerary advertised in the brochure although please note, as mentioned on each relevant cruise page, some itineraries will operate in reverse. In addition, due to water levels on the river and circumstances beyond our control we may need to change the order in which the itinerary is operated, our ports of call, or our day to day activities. On the rare occasion this happens, our Cruise Manager will keep you fully informed.

Brochure DetailsAll information in this brochure was correct at the time of going to print and any errors are unintentional. The availability of some services, facilities and attractions may vary due to circumstances outside of our control such as poor weather conditions and a change in water levels on the river, lack of demand and breakdowns. We cannot predict these occurrences in advance and do not accept liability if attractions are not open or available, although we will do our best to provide alternatives.

SmokingMS Olympia is strictly non-smoking although smoking is permitted on a limited section of the sun deck.

VoltageMS Olympia has an electrical current of 220v. A two-pin European adaptor will be required.

Newmarket Holidays Booking Conditions

Important Information

Please read carefully

We want you to enjoy every minute of your Cruise with us, and we’ll do our very best to try to ensure that it lives up to your expectations of it. We believe that our 30 years of tour operating experience, together with the reputation we have for quality and value, should give you the confidence to book with us. To give you further peace of mind, we accept your booking on the basis of our Terms and Conditions, which are designed to clarify the contractual obligations between us. Please spend some time reading them carefully, and please feel free contact us should anything be unclear.

Your contract with us1 YOUR BOOKINGYour booking, once accepted and confirmed in writing to you, represents a contract between all persons named on the Booking Form and/or on the Confirmation of Reservation, and Newmarket Promotions Ltd (The Company). The contract is based on the information given in the holiday brochure, and the terms laid out in the following Booking Conditions. If you made a credit card booking over the telephone, and are seeing these Conditions for the first time, you may cancel your reservation in writing up to seven days from the date of receipt of your Confirmation of Reservation. This agreement is governed by English Law and jurisdiction is conferred on the English courts but not exclusively, so if you live elsewhere in the UK, when the courts of Scotland and Northern Ireland also have jurisdiction.

2 YOUR PAYMENTYour Confirmation of Reservation includes an invoice showing the deposit paid and the final balance due. The outstanding amount must be paid by the due date. Should we not receive payment by this date we reserve the right to treat your booking as cancelled, in which case you could be liable to pay cancellation charges according to the scale set out in paragraph 4 below. Please note that a 1.5% per transaction charge will be made for any final balances paid by credit card. IMPORTANT NOTE: The person signing the Booking Form does so on behalf of all persons named on it, and he/she becomes directly responsible to the Company for the payment of the total holiday price and if applicable, and where appropriate, for the cancellation charges and disbursements of any funds.

3 YOUR ALTERATIONSIf you want to change any of the details of your booking, we will always do our best to help. We will however make an amendment charge of £110 per person as a contribution to our administrative expenses. All amendments must be notified to us in writing by the person who made the original booking.NB If an amendment involves a change of name, insurance premiums are not transferable. We reserve the right to make additional charges to cover in full any additional costs imposed on us by our suppliers.

4 YOUR CANCELLATIONYou or any member of your party may cancel your booking or part of it once it has been confirmed but the cancellation will only be valid if made in writing direct to the Company. If the cancellation results in a person travelling alone, a single room supplement is payable. The amount payable on cancellation depends upon when we receive your written instructions – the more notice you give, the less we will charge. Period before departure date within which written instructions are received by Newmarket Promotions Ltd. and amount of cancellation charge (shown as a percentage of the total holiday price excluding insurance premium which is not refundable) are as follows:

Charge prior to “Balance Due” date* Deposit only“Balance Due” date* - 29 days 50% or deposit if greater28 - 15 days 75% or deposit if greater14 - 7 days 90%less than 7 days prior/after departure 100%

Notes: If the reason for cancellation is covered under the terms of an insurance policy, you may be able to reclaim these charges.* The “Balance Due” date is printed/shown on your “Confirmation of Booking & Invoice”.

5 YOUR COMPLAINTSIn the unlikely event that you have problems whilst on holiday, you MUST report the matter to the on-board Passenger Services Officer IMMEDIATELY during your holiday. If the matter is not then satisfactorily resolved, you must complete a written report (form available). You must then follow up any complaint in writing within fourteen days of your return, including a copy of the original report form. We operate a strict code of conduct which also conforms to European regulations on package travel and take any complaints received seriously. However, in order to be fair to all concerned, complaints will be considered only where the above procedure has been followed.

6 YOUR TRAVELLING CONDITIONSWhere as part of the holiday you have booked your travel by air, land or sea, such travel will be subject to the terms and conditions of carriage of the airline, shipping, rail or coach company providing the transport. In most cases, the conditions will limit the carrier’s liability to you in accordance with international law. Should anyone be refused admission to the coach or ship, or to the destination country by the transport or government authority, then we are powerless to assist and cannot be held responsible. This includes any passenger who fails to advise us of any medical condition or disability. If you are prevented from travelling as

a result, our responsibility for your holiday thereupon ceases. Full cancellation charges will apply and we will be under no obligation whatsoever for any refund, compensation or loss you may incur. Copies of the relevant parts of the Terms and Conditions are available on request.

Our contract with you1 OUR CONFIRMATION OF RESERVATIONWhen we have received your booking form and deposit we will send you a Confirmation of Reservation which details exactly what is booked for you. From this moment Newmarket Promotions Ltd., has accepted your booking on the terms set out in this Contract.

2 THE CRUISE PRICEChanges in transportation costs, including the cost of fuel, duties, taxes or fees chargeable for services and exchange rates, mean that the price of your travel arrangements may change after you have booked. However there will be no change within 30 days of your departure. We will absorb and you will not be charged for any increase equivalent to 2% of the price of your travel arrangements, which excludes insurance premiums and any amendment charges. You will be charged for the amount over and above that. If this means that you have to pay an increase of more than 10% of the price of your travel arrangements, you will have the option of accepting a change to another holiday if we are able to offer one (if this is of equivalent or higher quality you will not have to pay more but if it is of lower quality you will be refunded the difference in price), or cancelling and receiving a full refund of all monies paid, except for any amendment charges. Should the price of your holiday go down due to the changes mentioned above, by more than 2% of your holiday cost, then any refund due will be paid to you. However, please note that travel arrangements are not always purchased in local currency and some apparent changes have no impact on the price of your travel due to contractual and other protection in place. The price of your holiday was calculated using exchange rates quoted in the Financial Times Guide to World Currencies 31 July 2012.

3 OUR ALTERATIONSIt is unlikely that we will have to make any changes to your holiday but we do plan your holiday arrangements many months in advance. Occasionally changes may be made, which we reserve the right to do so at any time. Most of these changes are minor and we will advise you at the earliest possible date. If a major change becomes necessary we will inform you as soon as is reasonably possible if there is time before your departure. A major change is one that we make to your holiday arrangements before departure that involves, for example, changing your resort area, or time of departure or return by more than twelve hours, or offering accommodation with a lower official classification than that advertised (except the latter in the case of en route tour hotels). When a major change occurs, you will have the choice of either accepting the change of arrangements, purchasing another available holiday from us, (we will refund any price difference if alternative is of lower value) or cancelling your holiday and receiving a full refund of all monies paid, except where the major change arises due to force majeure (see below), we will pay compensation as detailed below:

15 - 28 days £100 - 14 days £25

IMPORTANT NOTE : We will not pay you compensation if we have to cancel or change your travel arrangements in any way because of unusual or unforeseeable circumstances beyond our control. These can include, for example, war, riot, industrial dispute, terrorist activity and its consequences, natural or nuclear disaster, fire, adverse weather conditions, epidemics and pandemics, unavoidable technical problems with transport.

4 OUR CANCELLATIONSWe reserve the right in any circumstances (including failure to reach sufficient numbers) to cancel your holiday and in this event we will return to you all money you have paid to us or will offer you an alternative, available holiday to purchase of comparable standard. In no case, except for reasons of war etc, (see Important Note above) will your holiday be cancelled after the date when your final balance becomes due.

5 OUR COMPLAINTS PROCEDURENewmarket Promotions Ltd is a Member of ABTA with membership number V787X. ABTA Members help holidaymakers to get the most from their travel and assist them when things do not go according to plan. We are obliged to maintain a high standard of service to you by ABTA’s Code of Conduct. For further information about ABTA, the Code of Conduct and the arbitration scheme available to you if you have a complaint, contact ABTA, 30 Park Street, London SE1 9EQ Tel: 0901 201 5050 or www.abta.com. We can normally agree an amicable settlement of the few complaints we receive. However, if we cannot agree, disputes arising out of, or in connection with this Contract may (if the customer so wishes) be referred to arbitration under a special Scheme which, though devised by arrangement with the Association of British Travel Agents, is administered quite independently by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. The Scheme (details of which will be supplied on request) provides for a simple and inexpensive method of arbitration on documents alone with restricted liability on the customer in respect of costs. The Scheme does not apply to claims for an amount greater than £5,000 per person. There is also a limit of £25,000 per booking form. Neither does it apply to claims which are solely or mainly in respect of physical injury or illness or the consequences of such injury

or illness. Redress under this Scheme requires written notice requesting arbitration to be made within nine months of scheduled date of return from the holiday.

6 OUR RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR HOLIDAY (a) Although we have no direct control over services provided to you by independent suppliers we accept responsibility for the reasonable standard of the holiday which you book. If any part is not provided as promised, we will pay you appropriate compensation if this has affected the enjoyment of your holiday, except where the failure is unforeseeable or unavoidable.

(b) We accept responsibility if you or any person named on the booking form suffers bodily injury, illness or death due to the negligent acts and/or omissions of:

(i) our employees or agents; or

(ii) our suppliers or sub-contractors, servants or agents whilst acting within the scope or in the course of their employment to provide any service or arrangement forming part of the holiday that you have booked with us save that we do not accept responsibility for any air or sea carriers whose liabilities are limited by the relevant International Conventions. Provided that any such claims will be subject to and dealt within accordance with English Law and will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

(c) We shall give you assistance in the event that you suffer illness, personal injury or death during the period of your holiday overseas arising out of an activity which does not form part either of the holiday arrangement with us or an excursion offered through us. This assistance will include advice and guidance and, at our discretion and where appropriate, financial assistance subject to our spending a maximum amount in this regard on behalf of yourself and any other person named in the booking form of £5,000 in total.

(d) In the event of a claim under this clause six against us by you or any person named on the booking form we reserve the right to claim in your place against the person or corporation responsible for the act, default or omission giving rise to the claim and you hereby agree to assign to us all your rights under this clause six and we will be subrogated to those rights and you hereby agree to assist us fully in the event that we enforce the rights which have been assigned to us or to which we are subrogated.

(e) We take the safety and security of our clients extremely seriously. If a Foreign Office advises that people should not visit a particular country, then we would act on this. However, we are sure you appreciate from press and television coverage that the political, economic and social conditions in many countries are not as stable as we are used to. Sadly crimes against both people and their property are a fact of life the world over, and when in a foreign country it is very important to be extra vigilant and avoid drawing attention to yourself by wearing expensive jewellery, carrying expensive camera equipment etc. Travellers have the same responsibility for their personal safety and that of their possessions, as they do at home. As situations in countries can change rapidly, we would suggest you may wish to contact the Foreign Office Travel Advice unit on 0845 850 2829 for up to date information and advice regarding safety BEFORE BOOKING YOUR HOLIDAY. Newmarket Promotions Ltd., operate to many parts of the world, some of which do not conform to British health and safety standards. We request that all our hotels comply with the local regulations applicable in their country for health and safety but we cannot guarantee that these meet British standards.

7 TRAVEL INSURANCEBecause of the importance of having adequate insurance cover we make it a condition of booking on all foreign holidays that you are covered by an insurance policy. If you elect not to take our insurance, you agree to indemnify Newmarket Promotions Ltd. for any costs that arise which would otherwise have been met had Newmarket Promotions Ltd insurance been taken. Should you fail to supply us with the name of your insurance company at the time of booking, our insurance premium will automatically be added to your invoice. Please note, if you take out our insurance, certain claims will be subject to an excess charge.

8 FINANCIAL PROTECTION & REPATRIATIONIn line with the EC Directive on package travel, Newmarket Promotions Ltd offers complete financial protection for all customers. Newmarket Promotions Ltd is a fully-bonded member of ABTA - The Association of British Travel Agents, ensuring both your financial protection and high standards of professionalism and reliability. Therefore you can book and travel with Newmarket Promotions Ltd in total confidence that your money and your holiday are safe. In the unlikely event of the company failing while you are abroad, the ABTA bond will be used to repatriate you.

When you buy an ATOL protected flight inclusive holiday from us you will receive an ATOL Certificate. This lists the flight, accommodation, car hire and/or other services that are financially protected, where you can get information on what this means for you and who to contact if things go wrong.

BOOKING It is extremely important that you provide clear, correct information when Booking, for it is from this information that we make your res er va tion and our contract with you. The person to whom all correspondence, in voic es and joining in struc tions are to be sent, should be en tered as the first name. It is also their address and telephone number(s) that should be given. Other names are required by air lines, insurance compa nies, ho tel iers etc., so please be accurate. For foreign holidays it is essential that these names match those on the pass ports. If any member of your party e.g. newly weds, changes their name between book ing this hol i day and travelling, it is impor tant to provide us with these details so that we can issue the tickets in the new name. If there is not time to amend the passport the marriage cer tifi cate should be carried in the passport. We need to know the number of children under 2, and those between the ages of 2 and 16 who may qualify for a 10% dis count if they are sharing a room with 2 adults where a specific child price is not shown. We do not accept bookings from any unaccompanied passengers under the age of 18.

YOUR JOURNEYThe Coach Companies we use have been selected to be relied upon to provide modern, comfortable coaches and careful, considerate drivers. On some holidays it may be that your journey commences on a feeder coach, before you join the main coach, and feeder coaches are often not of the same standard or size. Whilst the coaches on UK holidays will be of a high standard, they may not have all the facilities of a continental coach. We plan the seating arrangements

close to departure date to ensure that families, friends and groups are seated as close as possible. You retain these seats throughout the tour. Smoking and alcohol consumption is prohibited on all our coaches. Regular comfort stops are made. Where the brochure indicates that your Channel crossing will be by ferry, we reserve the right to substitute a crossing via the Eurotunnel and vice versa.

PICK-UP POINTS AND TIMESWhen completing the Booking Form you will have to select your pick-up point. We will show this on our Confirmation Invoice. Please check to ensure that it is correct. The time of pick-up will be advised approximately 7 days before departure. Should you need to change your pick-up point this must be notified to us prior to this. You must not assume that you can just go to another point, for the coach may not need to call at all points listed. Please be on time as we cannot be responsible or liable for any loss or expense suffered. On the return journey you will be disembarked at your original pick up point. Your Tour Manager will endeavour to give an estimated time of arrival at each point, prior to the last transit/comfort stop. This will enable you to telephone taxis or friends who may be meeting you. Our homebound drop offs are scheduled in reverse order of the pick ups. Because of the inconvenience and delays caused to other passengers our Tour Managers are unable to accept requests to be dropped off at additional points. In the extremely unlikely event of you not receiving final joining instructions detailing the exact time and place of your pick up, it is your responsibility to contact us prior to departure.

DELAYSOccasionally MS Olympia, ferries and coaches may be delayed due to circumstances be yond our control. In such cases we will do our utmost to help you and keep you fully informed. In the event of extended overnight delays, de pend ing upon circumstances, we will endeav our to provide ac com mo da tion. In the case of a major delay to your home ward journey, we shall en deav our to de lay the depar ture from your hotel.

SPECIAL REQUESTSWe endeavour to comply with any special request you may have by passing them through to the ship; however, we cannot guarantee that all such requests will be met, since they may be outside our control. Please note that we guarantee your cabin type as booked, and will do our best to accommodate cabin requests, but cannot guarantee a particular cabin.

ITINERARYYou will receive your final Itinerary and Journey Instructions approximately seven days prior to departure, provided all payments have been made.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR THOSE TRAVELLING BY COACH FROM YOUR LOCAL AREAPlease note that passengers using a coach pick-up from their local area should be aware that this may involve an early departure time, which on occasions could be the day before the date of arrival for those who live a long way from the port. All timings shown in this brochure are provisional and your exact time of pick-up will be confirmed approximately 7 days prior to departure.
