offer to the public the greatest successes of Frank

Sinatra, starting the evening with “Fly me to the moon” and concluding with

“New York, New York”. In this concert he momentarily abandons the great in-

ternational stages of the opera to pay homage to The Voice. He creates emotions

together with the Quintet of Claudio Chiara, one of the most refined Italian

jazzmen, to blend the preciousness of his voice with a swing full of freshness,

elegance and energy.

Italian baritone Lucio Gallo was born in Taranto and worked as a bass guitarist

before studying singing at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Turin with Elio

Battaglia. He has won many competitions and appeared at the world’s leading

concert halls and opera houses, including Teatro La Scala, Metropolitan Opera

New York, San Francisco Opera, Vienna State Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Ba-

varian State Opera, La Monnaie Brussels and festivals such as the Rossini Opera

Festival in Pesaro and the Salzburg Festival. His wide repertory ranges from Mo-

zart to Wagner, signature roles including Iago, Klingsor (Parisfal), Alfio (Cavalleria

rusticana), Tonio (Pagliacci), Jack Rance (La fanciulla del West), Scarpia, Dulca-

mara (L’elisir d’amore), Don Pizarro (Fidelio), the title role of Der fliegende Hol-

länder, Macbeth, Rigoletto and Giorgio Germont (La traviata). He has worked

with such conductors as Claudio Abbado, Daniel Barenboim, Riccardo Chailly,

Charles Davis, Bernard Haitink, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo

Muti, Seiji Ozawa, Antonio Pappano, Carlo Rizzi, Wolfgang Sawallisch and Jef-

frey Tate. He recorded for Deutsche Grammophon, Sony, Decca and Warner

Fonit Cetra.
