But with suites still for sale at James Cooper Mansion, developer Tridel knew that there was still opportunity to showcase its site. And so, several new model suites have been revealed. Since the building pairs an original 1882-built mansion with contempor- ary construction, in-house interior design manager Stella Salvador and her team wanted to showcase the same juxtaposition in the models, which they did in the 840-square-foot two-bedroom unit. “We wanted to inject some traditional and merge it with the contemporary,” the interior designer says. “To have something ultra-slick beside something really traditional.” The model plays on contrasts in more ways than one. Feminine is mixed with masculine (a glass-enclosed chandelier sharing space with a tufted tailored sofa). And light is contrasted with dark (sand-toned floors juxtapose against espresso- hued kitchen cabinetry). The result is eclectic. Perfect, Ms. Salvador says, for “someone who appreci- ates living downtown.” Suites at James Cooper Mansion range in size from 760 to 2,515 sq. ft. and in price from $420,000 to $2.2-million. It also doesn’t take up too much space, which is ideal in a condo. 2 There’s something about a mirrored surface that makes a room feel twice as special. This two-tiered coffee table from Shelter does more than just that. “Whenever you use mirror, it livens up a space and expands it, making it feel bigger,” Ms. Salva- dor explains. 3 Sourced from Royal Light- ing, this contemporary chan- delier adds sparkle and shine. While it’s a defining feature in the space, it doesn’t call too much attention to itself. “It gives a lightness but there’s not much colour to it,” Ms. Salvador says. 4 Upholstered in a men’s grey suiting fabric, the tuxedo- style sofa from Stylegarage is sleek and contemporary. The gap between the sofa and the floor keeps the space looking airy and the couch from appear- ing heavy, the designer says. 5 Chrome-and-wood nest- ing tables from Elte combine the traditional and contemporary elements found throughout the suite. They are particularly con- venient during parties. “Nesting tables are great — the extra table stores nicely underneath, but can be pulled out when you need it,” Ms. Salvador says. 6 Sporting sturdy tulip bases, table lamps from Elte flank the sofa and are a counter- point to the fragile and feminine chandelier. The ribbing on the shades adds texture to the room. POST HOMES
