Marina a journalist based in Rome. She worked with the daily newspaper “il manifesto” for 30 years, including asthe Foreign Editor. As a Foreign Correspondent she traveled extensively in Iran, South Asia, and South East Asia.She also runs the environmental column “TerraTerra” (“Earth to Earth”). Her book “La signora di Narmada”(Feltrinelli 2004) was awarded the Elsa Morante Prize for Communication. She wrote “Il cuore di tenebradell'India” (Bruno Mondadori 2012) on the social conflicts in rural India. Her latest book is “Malaterra. Come hannoavvelenato l'Italia” (Laterza, 2018). She contributes regularly to Internazionale.it.

Firoze Manji has more than 40 years’ experience in international development, health, human rights, and politicalorganizing. He is the publisher of Daraja Press, and founder and former editor-in-chief of the pan African socialjustice newsletter and website Pambazuka News and Pambazuka Press, and founder and former executivedirector (1997-2010) of Fahamu – Networks for Social Justice (www.fahamu.org). In September 2018 to August2019, he is based in Berlin as Richard von Weizsäcker Fellow at the Robert Bosch Academy. He was a VisitingFellow at Kellogg College, University of Oxford (2001-2016), and is currently Associate Fellow of the Institute forPolicy Studies. He has previously worked as Director of Pan-African Baraza, an initiative of ThoughtWorks Inc; atthe Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA) as head of the Centre forDocumentation, Information and Communications; as Africa Programme Director for Amnesty International. Hehas published widely on health, social policy, human rights, and political sciences, and authored and edited a widerange of books on social justice in Africa, including on women’s rights, trade justice, China’s role in Africa, and onthe recent uprisings in Africa. He has been a member of the International Advisory Board of the Centre for theStudy of Global Media and Democracy, Goldsmiths College, University of London, and currently serves on theeditorial advisory board of AwaaZ Magazine. He is a member of the board of Greenpeace Africa since 2018. Heholds a Ph.D. and MSc from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of London, and BDS from the University ofNewcastle-upon-Tyne.

Teresa Almeida Cravo is an Assistant Professor in International Relations at the Faculty of Economics of theUniversity of Coimbra and a Researcher at the Centre for Social Studies. She is currently co-coordinator of thePhD Programme Democracy in the XXIst Century at the University of Coimbra and a Visiting Fellow at theAfrican Studies Centre of the University of Oxford. She holds a PhD from the Department of Politics andInternational Studies of the University of Cambridge. In the last years, Teresa has been a Visiting Fellow at theUniversity of Westminster, in the UK, at the University of Monash, in Australia, and a Predoctoral Fellow andlater an Associate at the Belfer Centre for Science and International Affairs, at the John F. Kennedy School ofGovernment at Harvard University. Her research interests include peace and conflict, security and development,interventionism, and foreign policy, particularly within the Lusophone context.

Donna is a researcher in Food Politics and Cultures Project at the University of the Western Cape,exploring the political and philosophical implications of food in the context of social subjects’ relations tonature. She was active on trade and trade-related issues in Southern Africa and worked for the JubileeSouth Debt Movement that initiated the International People’s Tribunal on Debt. She is an ecofeminist andtrained as a political economist. Her work focuses on capitalism and nature, specifically on land, mining,and fishing in post-apartheid South Africa. She has experience in women’s organizations and NGOs as wellas in academic institutions, where she taught political theory. She holds a BA and an Honours degree inPhilosophy (University of the Western Cape), an MA in Political Economy and Development (ISS, ErasmusUniversity) and a Ph.D. from the University of Cape Town.
