he industry has spoken and BOMAhas answered. The demand forpractical, core commercial real estate
management education for entry-level andup-and-coming property professionals ishotter than ever. BOMA International ismeeting this demand with thedelivery of Foundations of RealEstate Management, acomprehensive introductioncourse to commercial realestate. The program coverstopics in the areas ofadministration andmanagement, building systemsand operations, accountingand reporting, and contractadministration.
Most new propertyprofessionals do not have realestate degrees, and there is a significantlearning curve for understanding thebasics of commercial real estatemanagement. Also, on-the-job training isoften inconsistent and sporadic.Foundations of Real Estate Managementresponds to these challenges by offering acurriculum that brings students up tospeed quickly, supplements on-the-jobtraining, and connects students to avaluable peer network.
The course is ideal for all propertymanagement professionals with less thanfive years experience, such as junior andassistant property managers andadministrative personnel. Buildingengineers and supplier members can also
benefit from the course andgain a better understanding ofreal estate managementfunctions and issues. Thecourse seamlessly integrates thebroad range of topics that areessential for all propertymanagers. For this reason, seasoned real estateprofessionals have also foundthe program to be a helpfulrefresher.
The program was originallydeveloped and for the past 3-4
years successfully delivered byBOMA/Atlanta to address the shortage ofnew, young talent in the real estateindustry. BOMA International agreed torevise, update, and repackage thecurriculum for national distribution. The28-hour curriculum is divided into thefollowing five modules:
• Real Estate Administration• The Well-Versed Real Estate Manager• Building Operations I
