Polish up your interviewing skills – we can offer you help and advice about how best to present yourself at interviews. We can arrange a ‘mock’ practice interview and give you some feedback about your strengths and identify areas you could improve. Strengthen your CV. There are lots of opportunities to get experience and skills whilst searching for the right opportunity. Come and talk to us about short programmes, voluntary work and work experience, which can make you more attractive to future employers. Make sure you know where to look for opportunities and vacancies. Register with sites like the Apprenticeship website. Let us know what you are looking for and a Personal Adviser can email you vacancies and opportunities relating to your job interests. Youth Promise Plus is a new project for unemployed young people living in Birmingham and Solihull which is funded by the European Social Fund and Youth Employment Initiative. Birmingham Careers Service offers support to unemployed young people as part of Youth Promise Plus. When you first see an Adviser they will register you on the Youth Promise Plus project which will give you access to support from other providers on the project and benefits such as free travel to interviews and free travel when you start a job or training. Your adviser will need to take a copy of one form of ID (passport, birth certificate or national insurance issue letter) so please bring this with you on your first visit.
