Virtual Attendance ✘ In both face-to-face or online learning environments,
there is no factor more important to a student’s academic progress in school than regular and punctual attendance.
✘ For the 2020-2021 school year, PGA along with MDCPSwill continue to follow established district attendance protocols and procedures as defined in School Board policy, 5200 – Attendance.

Virtual Attendance ✘ SCHOOL ATTENDANCE:
✗ Daily school attendance will be taken every scheduled school day during all periods of the day, including Homeroom.
✗ Students are to be counted in attendance to school only if they attend the online classes.
✗ A student is considered tardy to school if the student is not present at the moment the attendance is taken for Homeroom.
✘ CLASS ATTENDANCE:✗ Students will be counted in attendance to class if they log into their
teacher’s live sessions.✗ At the elementary students will log into their teacher’s live session at the
beginning of each class period/block.

Virtual Attendance ✘ Procedures for Parents to Submit an Excused Admit/Note to School
✗ If a student’s excuse for being absent does not meet the criteria for excused absences set forth in the school board attendance policy for excused absences, or the parent(s) fails to report and explain the absence(s) within five days, the student’s absence will be considered unexcused.
✘ Absences shall be reported to the student’s enrolled school by the parent/legal guardian no later than five (5) days from the date of the absence.
✘ Parents will submit an admit VIA EMAIL to [email protected]. Parents can send an email stating the cause for the absence and attach documents. ✗ Include the
✗ Student’s Full Name and MDCPS Student Seven Digit Identification Number✗ Date of Absence and the Reason for the absence. ✗ The email subject line should read “Excused Admit”.
PGA Attendance PolicyExcessive Absences/Tardies/Early Dismissals Consequences:✘ A student who has five (5) or more cumulative absences, tardies and/or early dismissals will receive a call from the School
Counselor as a Warning Notice of Excessive absences, tardies, and/or early dismissals.
✘ A student who has ten (10) or more cumulative absences, tardies and/or early dismissals in an annual course or five (5) or more class absences in a designated semester course may have quarterly, semester and final grade(s) withheld. At this time, a Student Case Management Referral (SCM) indicating excessive absences, tardies and/or early dismissals will be issued. A meeting with the School’s Attendance Review Committee will be scheduled.
✘ A student who has ten (10) or more cumulative absences, tardies and/or early dismissals will not be allowed to participate in interscholastic competitions or performances for the remainder of the school year.
✘ As a reminder, school attendance has a direct impact on academic achievement. In order to make the most of educational opportunities, students must have consistent, punctual daily attendance. We are asking for your cooperation in making sure your child’s school attendance improves.

Lunch Applications✘ Students that are NEW to Pinecrest Glades will not have their lunch eligibility carry over with them.
✘ Applications will be sent by email to all PGA families.
✘ Instructions for submitting Lunch Applications will be sent by email.
✘ Please allow 5-10 days for your application to be processed.

Lunch Information
Meals during Remote Live Instruction✘ Curbside pickup will be from 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday at the flagpoles near the
PGA Main Office.
✘ Meals must be pre-ordered weekly through the Cafeteria page on our website. Orders must be submitted by 12pm on the Sunday before the week begins. (e.g., by 12pm on Sunday, August 23rd for the week of August 24th – 28th)
✘ Cost of meals will be based on student’s lunch eligibility.
✘ Due to physical distancing guidelines, walk-ups will not be allowed.
✘ Only meals for students enrolled at PGA can be picked up at PGA.
✘ You must be in attendance for the school day to claim meals. If not, you will be charged full price.
✘ If payment is required, please make payments online through www.SchoolsWallets.com
✘ The PGA Lunch Car Decal must be shown per student at time of service. It will be emailed to you after you submit your first pre-order. Print the decal and display it on your dashboard to pick up meals.

What is a PAL? Parents as Liaisons (PAL)✘ PGA’s PAL Association supports the faculty and administration in their
efforts to improve educational and extracurricular activities in the school.
✘ Class PALs will apply and will be selected in conjunction with the PAL Board and Administration.
✘ All parents and students are encouraged to become involved in our PALs organization.
