T H A N K Y O U to our wonderful Knights of Columbus for providing such a delicious pancake breakfast! We appreciate you and the work that goes into making this breakfast and community time special. T H A N K Y O U to all who attended as this breakfast event is not just a delicious meal and not just a wonderful time to gather as community, but is a fundraiser that the Knights of Columbus provide every month that there is a 5th Sunday. The funds raised at these wonderful events are then donated by the Knights of Columbus to help aide those in need here in our parish as well as support our parish programs.

This is the first Sunday of October which is observed as

Respect Life Sunday. As Catholics, we are called to cherish, defend, and protect those who are most

vulnerable, from the beginning of life to its end, and at every point in between. During the month of October, the Church asks us to reflect more deeply on the dignity

of every human life.

There are special collection envelopes in the pews, which you can add to our first (and only) collection

basket. Thank you for your generosity.

For further information or questions, please call Paula at (831) 920-2869

We hope to see you at the new Altar server training at 1:30pm in the

Church, this Sunday, October 6th

Have you ever thought about being an Altar Server? This wonderful ministry of adults and young people

who help around the Altar at our Masses, assisting the Pastor during Liturgies, might be waiting for

you to join!!!

Young people, adults, men and women who have received their first communion and are at least in the

fourth grade, are welcomed.

Please pray about joining our Altar Servers. Might God be calling you?

Thank you very much and know are needed!

IS GOD CALLING YOU TO ALTAR SERVER MINISTRY?

…...in joining others for a peaceful, candlelight vigil, please plan on attending Thursday evenings each week throughout the month of October, beginning at 7pm, at 625 Hilby Avenue, in Seaside. Questions? Contact David Brownfield Monterey Peninsula for Life (831) 521-6102

Saint Francis had a great love of all God’s creatures and all God’s creation. All over the world people celebrated October 4th, the Memorial of Saint Francis of Assisi. PLEASE NOTE:

PARISH OFFICE NEWS! Please note that this Sunday, October 6th, 2019, 9:00am to 1:30pm Jordan will be manning the office the best he can, as he moves between the parish office and the Church. We ask if you have parish business to please contact the office on Monday.

Our parish is home to a wonderful music ministry that enhances the prayerfulness of all our liturgies. Each weekend and every weekday, our communal prayer benefits from the talented vocalists, instrumentalists, and dedicated planning. Lana is looking for singers to fortify singing power during every Mass, with Choir at 10:00am Mass and worship teams at the other Masses. She is also looking for guitar players! She would love to hear from you. Lana can be found behind the piano at every Mass, or she can be contacted in the

parish office. Ph. 831.655.4160 ext. 26 E. [email protected]

Do you love to sing? Do you play an instrument? PLEASE CONSIDER SHARING YOUR TALENT(S)

Have you been thinking? I’d like to give back for all the blessings

received? Well, our St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store is looking for a few good people who can give a few hours a week helping us help others. It is a great feeling to know that you’re making a real difference in someone’s life. It is lite and fun work. Your volunteering helps us help others with their rent, utilities, food, tents, sleeping bags for the homeless, etc. If you might be interested in helping or have questions,

please contact Ron Schenk at 642-9387.

Our community is need of a few volunteers to join our Altar Care Team (Environment Team). This ministry keeps the church dusted, clean, organized and tidy in the sacristy, vestibule,

confessional, church, and children’s room. You would work in a team and if enough people sign up to help your team would work very few months out of the year. Please consider

helping in this very important ministry. If you might be interested in giving a little bit of your time and/or have questions, please call Irma Dalton, (831) 375-0607.

HELP IS STILL VERY MUCH NEEDED Won’t you consider helping in this important ministry

Mixed - Up Beatitudes! There’s something wrong with each of these beatitudes. Can you find the problems? Blessed are the poor in the desert, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they who mourn, for they will smile. Busy are the meek, for they will inherit the land. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will have cakes. Blessed are the beggars, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the clever, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called peacemakers. Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the land of plenty.

Here are the right answers to the mistakes. Can you fix them? be comforted have their fill children of God clean of heart Blessed the merciful poor in Spirit kingdom of heaven
