PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

As President of the Ontario Shuffleboard Association I am pleased to have

a dedicated board of directors. I thank George O’Reilly for his term of being

President and Patrick McGregor as 1st Vice President. With us all on the new board

working together we will have another successful year.

I personally want to thank Henry & Leny van Dorp for hosting the

Woodstock tournament for many years. We all have fond memories of them and the

many friends that we played shuffleboard with.

I’m happy to report that we will be having one more OSA tournament in

2013. Although we will no longer have Woodstock, we look forward to Kincardine

and Nobel hosting their first tournaments.

It is great to see the attendance growing at our tournaments and I thank all

of you who attend these fun events. I also appreciate and thank the Tournament

Directors for the work they do for the OSA.

I congratulate the Canada East Ladies team and the Canada East men’s

team for winning gold at the 2012 31st International Association World Team

Championship that was played in Seattle, Washington USA.

Sincerely,

Rendall Bilton

President Ontario Shuffleboard Association

OSA MEETINGS SUMMARY

The following summarizes proceedings of two meetings:

CNSA playing rules until AGM in July.

July 17 2012 in Woodstock, OSA AGM and elections:

All OSA Directors were present.

Minutes were read. Treasurer’s Report was accepted. (page-4)

Constitution and Bylaw recommendations deferred due to approval of changes

in playing rules (vs. CNSA rules). A show of hands in the room indicated

agreement and Lorraine can now finalize the bylaws for eastern Canada.

Many thanks to Dom Sports who will sponsor the Ontario Shuffler newsletter

and website once again.

Tournament Format to be reviewed by board to try to get more games played

by each competitor.

Use of large numbers on scoreboards was approved by a majority vote.

New Board members elected as listed - page-4. Past-president George O'Reilly

thanked the past board, especially Lorraine who received a standing ovation.

Board expressed thanks to Leny and Henry van Dorp for years of generously

sponsoring Woodstock tournaments.

INTERNATIONAL SHUFFLEBOARD NEWS

ISA GOLD For Two Canadian Teams

Outstanding Canadian results! Two of the Canadian teams brought

home gold medals from the International Shuffleboard Association

(ISA) World Championship held in Seattle this past August.

Both Canada East women and Canada East Men won GOLD! Ontarians can

be especially proud, because all except one of the Canada East team

members are from Ontario. On the Women's Team were Captain Myrna

Bilton, Lenore Holder, Maureen Bryan, Donna Blom, Linda McRae,and

Muriel Burnett. On the Men's team were Captain Henry Strong; Rendal

Bilton, Patrick McGregor, John Holder, Don Breau (NB) and Bill Bryan.

The full story is posted on the OSA website, ShuffleON.org

CNSA President's Remarks

Dear Ontario Shufflers

I want to publicly say a big "THANK YOU" to all the Canadian participants for

their part in the 31st International Shuffleboard Association (ISA) tournament held

in Seattle, Washington, August 6 to 10, 2012. It was an honour for me to have

been selected along with them to represent Canada, as we all did, on Canadian

and UN teams.

As well, on behalf of the Canadian National Shuffleboard Association, I am proud

to congratulate the Canada East Ladies and Canada East Men’s teams, for each

bringing home GOLD. I am also proud of the Canada West teams, as the women

finished in a very strong 4th out of 10 teams and the men a respectable 8th of

11.

We in Ontario can take special pride to have had so many from our province

participating in the Canada East Men's and Women's teams.

But no matter what the medal count or success on the courts, we are all winners

have been able to take part in such a world class event as an ISA tournament. As

participants, we have had the opportunity to represent our country, Canada, and

to make wonderful, lasting friendships.

Happy Shuffling

Myrna Bilton, CNSA President
