The Exalted Ruler’s Message

Happy Fall Everyone!

The summer flew by so fast I could not believe it! It hit home

when I went out to my car and there was actual frost on my

windshield yesterday. What a difference a week can make.

The Champlain Valley Fair has come and gone. Thank you all

who volunteered for a shift and especially those who worked double and triple shifts when we were short of manpower.

Thank you Gary Little, Dave Blankemeyer and Jim Procopio for being the spokes that

kept the wheel turning.

And the golf cart wheels were turning at the Herb Robair Memorial Golf Tournament

thanks to Randy Corey and his assistants at registration and at the “hospitality tent” Dave

Blankemeyer, Tom and Mary Tessier and Cookie Manning.

Thank you to all those who came out to man the grill at Make a Wish at Shelburne

Museum and the Soccer Shoot the following week. There have even been some new

volunteers at Steak Night and the first 325 received rave reviews! We are headed in the right direction folks and there is more to come.

I am very pleased to announce that our new Trustees have been installed and we are

committed as a team to move this Lodge forward and make it a place people want to stay

a while and socialize with their Elks family. Mike Evarts is the Trustee Chair, Gary

Poirier-Kitchen Trustee. Dr Jack Murray-Outside Trustee, Mike Devine-Inside Trustee

and Dot Lahue-Bar Trustee.

We now have an opening for a Lecturing Knight as Jon Bucci has resigned due to his

work hours at his new job. We wish him well and thank him for his service to the Lodge.

The opening is warned in this bulletin and we will begin accepting nominations at the

first meeting in October.

We close out the month with the kids Halloween Party on the 26th and the adult party on

the 31st with the Adams Band. Remember . . . the more you come out to functions and

support the Lodge, the more we can do in the months to come. See you at the Lodge!

Fraternally,

Pam Poirier, Exalted Ruler

SILVER TOWERS MOTORCYCLE BENEFIT RIDE 2014

The annual motorcycle/classic car benefit ride was once again a suc-

cess! We had a beautiful day for the ride. The campers were again hap-

py and excited to see us, and we were joined by the Freedom Riders

this year making a total of well over 60 bikes and four cars at the

camp.

I would like to thank Pam Poirier, Gary Poirier, Don Trombley for

getting everything from the lodge to the camp, and having everything

ready and cooked for us when we arrived. It could not have been done

without you. A special thank you to John Thomas, my lead motorcycle guy, who led the pack to the camp and did a fantastic job!

Our sponsors came through again for us this year with prizes for our

raffle, and a big thank you to: Land Air Honda, Roadside Motor

Sports, Bessery's Quality Market (thank you David Smail for assisting

us with this new sponsor), Merola's Market, Killington Classic 2014,

Gary Little (Hannafords) for donation of water. Sardine Silkscreen

donated all the T-shirts given to the campers again this year, and we

thank them so much for their continued support, and to Vinny Hayes,

who made this connection for us and continues to support us every

year. We appreciate everyone who was there for us for this successful

event!
